Pitre and the other operator of the two mule-drawn vehicles had been scheduled for retirement later this week. Pitre was found dead in the small pasture across the street from his home at 615 W. When she awoke at 7:25 a.m. she noticed that the wagon was still there and he was not in sight. A grandchild, Michael Pitre, 6, who lives with the couple, said he went to the nearby pasture where the mule is kept. He found the gate closed but could see his grandfather lying on the ground.
