Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Thursday, 16 July 1981:  Funeral services for Mr. Frank Pitre, 71, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, Opelousas, with burial in St. Ann cemetery in Swords.  Mr. Pitre, a retired carpenter, died at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday in Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge.  He is survived by four sons, Ellis and Morris, both of Opelousas, Carl of Ville Platte and Kenneth of Eunice; two daughters, Mrs. Barbara Michael of Baton Rouge and Mrs. Norma Wright of Ville Platte; two brothers, Clifford and Robert, both of Lawtell; one sister, Mrs. Virgie Bourgeois of Lawtell and 22 grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Freda Darbonne Pitre in March of 1971 and by his parents Lucien Pitre and Ann Moreau.  Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on N. Main is directing.

Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Monday, 15 March 1971: Swords - Funeral services for Mrs. Frank Pitre, 58, of Swords, are incomplete pending arrival of a son from the Phillipine Islands.  Mrs. Pitre died at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at a Lafayette Hospital.  She was the former Freda Darbonne. Surviving are her husband; four sons, Ellis, Morris and Carl Pitre, all of Opelousas, and Kenneth Pitre of Swords; and two daughters, Mrs. Harold Wright of Opelousas and Mrs. John R. Mitchell of Portsmouth, Va. Also surviving are one brother, Pierre Darbonne of Opelousas; five sisters, Mrs. Eldron Pitre and Mrs. Lillian Moreau, both of Opelousas, Mrs. Ludy Moreau of Ville Platte, Mrs. William Prudhomme of Swords and Mrs. Araste Dupre of Eunice; and 14 grandchildren.

Norma Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Wednesday, 18 September 1996:  Funeral services for Mrs. Norma P. Wright, 59, are incomplete at this time with burial in St. Ann Cemetery in Swords.  Mrs. Wright, a resident of Lawtell, died at 7:55 p.m. Tuesday, September 17, 1996, in Lafayette General Hospital.  Survivors include: a son, Kenneth Michael Wright of Lake Charles; two daughters, Mrs. Scott (Denise) McDaniel of Ville Platte and Mrs. Keith (Tina) LaFleur of Eunice; four brothers, Kenneth Pitre of Eunice, Carl Pitre of Ville Platte, Morris Pitre of Opelousas and Ellis Pitre of Swords; a sister, Mrs. Barbara Michael of Baton Rouge; and five grandchildren, Alexandra Smith, Sydia McDaniel, Haley Nunez, Cecily-Ann Wright and Derk Lafleur.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Bell Wright Jan. 1979 and her parents, Frank and Freda Darbonne Pitre.  Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on North Main in Opelousas is in charge of arrangements.

 

Ellis Pitre:  Eunice News (LA), Monday, 6 April 2020:  Ellis Pitre passed away on Friday, April 3, 2020 at the age of 80.  A Private Graveside Service will be held at Billeau Cemetery with Deacon Chuck Ortego officiating.  A Memorial Service will be planned at a later date.  Ellis is survived by two sons, Pat Pitre and wife Donna, Quinon Pitre; seven daughters, Kim Smith and husband Craig, Jo Lynn Vacarro and husband Dominic, Roxanne Venable, Rhonda Pitre, Misty Pitre and husband Kevin, LaRee Sanchez and husband Johnny, Tina Chovanetz and husband Kevin; two brothers, Morris Pitre and wife Janice, Kenneth Pitre; one sister, Barbara Michael, twenty grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Fredia Darbonne Pitre, one son, Shane Pitre; one brother, Carl Pitre; one sister, Norma Pitre.
