Bathurst - Macrina Blanchard, 78, widow of Philippe Blanchard,
1370 Narcisse Lane, died Thursday at Chaleur General Hospital. Born in
Rough Waters, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Godin)
Pitre. She and her husband operated a hotel on Bridge Street for
many years. She continued the business following his death in 1935.
For the past six years she has been residing at Foyer Notre Dame de Lourdes
and Foyer St. Camille. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs.
Theophile Dugas (Jeanne-Mance) of New Richmond, Que., Mrs. Armand
Godin (Demerise) of Bathurst and Mrs. Peter LaTulippe (Evelyn) of
Neguac; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Henry Godin (Evangeline) and Mrs. Alfred
Losier (Adrienne) of Bathurst; two sisters, Mrs. Allie Lavigne
(Maida) of Bathurst and Mrs. Joseph Aube (Gertrude) on Montreal;
three brothers, Rudolph Pitre of Bathurst, Clarence Pitre of

stepson, Gerard Blanchard, died about four years ago. The body
is at Elhatton's Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be celebrated

He had been ill for several years. Born in East Bathurst, he was a son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Godin) Pitre. Prior to his retirement 12 years ago, due to ill health, he had been a section man with the CNR and had been an employee with the railroad for 39 years. He was a member of the League of The Sacred Heart. He is survived by his wife, the former Meldone Couture; four sons, Alex and Doran of Bathurst and Leon and Alfred of Toronto; four daughters, Mrs. Joseph Duguay (Patricia), Mrs. Edgar Doucet (Mildred), Mrs. John Doucet (Marie) and Mrs. Leo Vienneau (Corinne), all of Bathurst; five brothers, Arthur, Philias, Aurele, Clarence and Rudolph, all of East Bathurst; five sisters, Mrs. MacRina Blanchard of East Bathurst, Mrs. Vincent Lavigne (Martina), Mrs. Allie Lavigne (Mayda), Mrs. Joseph Aubie (Gertrude), all of Bathurst and Irene of Montreal; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The body will rest at Elhatton's funeral home with funeral mass to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church Thursday at 4 p.m. Entombment will be in the Roman Catholic vault pending interment in the adjoining cemetery in the spring.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Claude Boucher (Marjorie) of Rough Waters with whom she resided since the death of her husband; Mrs. Frank Riordon (Dianne) of Pokeshaw and Theresa of Toronto; three sons, Vincent Jr. of Montreal; Burnel of Simcoe, Ont. and Kenneth of Toronto; three sisters, Mrs. Macrina Blanchard, Mrs. Allie Lavigne (Maida) and Mrs. Joseph Aubie (Gertrude), all of Bathurst; four brothers, Clarence, Rudolph, Aurele and Arthur Pitre, all of Bathurst, as well as 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was 54. Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Godin) Pitre. Prior to his illness he worked at Bathurst Power and Paper Company Ltds. as a Millwright. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Declimenti, four sons, Joseph, Dartmouth, N.S., Gerald and Kenneth, both of Fredericton, and Claude of Bathurst, a daughter, Demerise at home. Also surviving are four brothers, Arthur, Rudolph, Aurele and Clarence, all of Bathurst, four sisters, Mrs. Allan Lavigne (Maida), Mrs. Joseph Aubie (Gertrude), Mrs. Vincent Lavigne (Martina), and Mrs. Phillip Blanchard (Macrina), all of Bathurst and three grandchildren. The body is resting at Elhatton's funeral home, Bathurst. The funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at the St. Therese Roman Catholic Church in Bathurst. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
