Obituary:  The Times Transcript (Moncton, NB), Wednesday, 11 March 1970:  Bathurst - The death of Alexander Ernest Pitre of East Bathurst occurred Tuesday in hospital in Campbellton at the age of 65.  He had been ill for several years.  Born in East Bathurst, he was a son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Godin) Pitre.  Prior to his retirement 12 years ago, due to ill health, he had been a section man with the CNR and had been an employee with the railroad for 39 years.  He was a member of the League of The Sacred Heart.  He is survived by his wife, the former Meldone Couture; four sons, Alex and Doran of Bathurst and Leon and Alfred of Toronto; four daughters, Mrs. Joseph Duguay (Patricia), Mrs. Edgar Doucet (Mildred), Mrs. John Doucet (Marie) and Mrs. Leo Vienneau (Corinne), all of Bathurst; five brothers, Arthur, Philias, Aurele, Clarence and Rudolph, all of East Bathurst; five sisters, Mrs. MacRina Blanchard of East Bathurst, Mrs. Vincent Lavigne (Martina), Mrs. Allie Lavigne (Mayda), Mrs. Joseph Aubie (Gertrude), all of Bathurst and Irene of Montreal; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  The body will rest at Elhatton's funeral home with funeral mass to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church Thursday at 4 p.m.  Entombment will be in the Roman Catholic vault pending interment in the adjoining cemetery in the spring.

Obituary:  The Northern Light (NB), 4 September 1991:  Ernest Pitre (Mrs.) of Bathurst, died August 30, 1991 at 79, born Meldona in Bathurst to Charles Couture and Loretta Simons.  Four sons: Alex and Doran both of Bathurst, Alfred of Oshawa, Ont, Leo of Toronto; four daughters: Mrs. Corinne Vienneau of Edmonton, Alberta, Patricia (Jos Duguay), Mildred (Edgar Doucet) and Marie (John Doucet) all of Middle River.  Two brothers Lyman of Bathurst and Raymond of Edmundston, N.B., 21 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren.  Funeral in Bathurst East.

Alexander Ernest Joseph Pitre:  The Times Transcript (Moncton, NB), Saturday, 3 January 1998:  The death of Alexander Ernest Joseph Pitre of Young Street occurred Thursday, January 1, 1998 at the Regional Hospital Centre after a brave struggle with Lou Gehrig's disease (A.L.S.).  He was 67.  Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Ernest Pitre and Meldona Couture Pitre of East Bathurst.  Alex started in plumbing and heating in 1948 for Charles McArdle, Kents Plumbing and Heating and Bathurst Plumbing and Heating.  He also worked at the Bathurst Power and Paper Co. Ltd. and worked at the Pulp Mills in New Richmond, Que. and Nackawic, NB.  He also worked at General Electric (Bathurst) and at the Belledune Fertilizer for 11 years until his retirement due to a back injury.  He was an ardent curler for many years and loved to spend his time doing his favorite sport of trout fishing.  He was a life time honorary member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1935, a member of the United Association of 512 Plumbing and Pipefitting and a member of the Golden Age Club and the Maple Leaf Club.  He leaves to mourn his wife of 50 years, Pearl LaPointe Pitre, four sons, Gregg (Robyn) Dalhousie, Gordon (Jeannine) Bathurst, Gary (Doreen) St John, Darryl (Paula) Riverview and one daughter, Donna (Peter) Fort McMurray, Alberta; sixteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild; three brothers, Leon (Pat) Toronto, Alfred (Mary Anne) Courtice, Ont., Doran (Judy) Bathurst; four sisters, Mildred Doucet, Marie Doucet (John), Patricia Duguay (Joseph) all of Bathurst and Corrine Vienneau of Spruce Grove, Alberta.  The body is resting at the Elhatton's Funeral Home in Bathurst.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Theresa Church, South Bathurst on Sunday, January 4 at 2:00 p.m.  Donations to the A.L.S. (Lou Gehrig's) Society would be appreciated by the family.

 

Joseph Raphael 'Alfred' Pitre:  Uxbridge Chapel:  Alfred Pitre, 80, of Uxbridge, Ontario passed away on Tuesday, January 31st, 2017 after a long struggle with Parkinson's Disease.  Born in Bathurst, N.B., he was the son of the late Ernest and Meldona Pitre.  Alfred is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Mary Anne Pitre as well as his children; Alan, Rick (Colette), Debbie, Rob (Becky) and Lisa (David).  He was the proud Grandfather of 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.  Alfred also leaves behind his brother, Leon Pitre (Pat) and sisters; Mildred Doucet, Marie Doucet (John) and Corrine Prince (Brian).  Predeceased by brothers Alec Pitre, Doren Pitre and sister, Patsy.  A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 11:00a.m. at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Uxbridge.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Parkinson's Society of Canada.

 

Marie Patricia Pitre:  Joseph Duguay (Mrs.) of Bathurst died February 2, 2002 at age 61, born in Bathurst, Patricia Pitre (Ernest Pitre and Meldona Couture).  Widowed in 1998.  Three brothers: Leon Pitre (Patsy) of Toronto, Alfred Pitre (Mary Anne) of Middle River, and Doran Pitre (Julie) of Bathurst; three sisters: Mildred Doucet (Hilaire Poirier) of Big River, Rosemarie Doucet (John) of Middle River, and Corinne Pitre of Alberta.  Died a brother Alex Pitre (Pearl) in 1998. Funeral at St-Famille, Bathurst.

 

Marie Mildred Pitre:  The Northern Light (Bathurst, NB), Tuesday, 12 October 2021:  (photo)  Doucet, Mildred, 1946 - 2021.  It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of Mildred Doucet which occurred at the Foyer Notre Dame de Lourdes on Sunday, October 3rd, 2021, at the age of 75.  Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Madonna Pitre.  She leaves behind five children: one son, Michel (Debbie) Doucet of North Tetagouche; four daughters; Melinda Doucet of Quebec, Dianne (Jose) Arseneau of Beresford, Suzanne (Bruno) Vienneau of Bathurst and Denise (Marc) Robichaud of North Tetagouche.  Seven grandchildren: Jean-Francois, Frederick, Marilyn, Monica, Stephanie, Vanessa, Michelle and Jason.  Eight great-grandchildren.  One brother, Leandre Pitre of Ottawa.  Two sisters: Corinne Pitre of Alberta and Rose-Marie Doucet of Middle River, NB.  Several nieces and nephews.  There will be no visitation at the funeral home.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, October 13th, 2021 at 2 p.m. from Holy Rosary Church, Bathurst.  Masks will be mandatory and proof of double vaccination will be required.  Donations in memory of Mildred may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor's choice.  Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton's Funeral Home, Bathurst.

 

Rose Marie Pitre:  L'Acadie Nouvelle (Caraquet, NB), Friday, 26 September 2025:  Rose-Marie Doucet, 1949-2025, Middle River, NB.   It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mrs. Rose-Marie Doucet, surrounded by her family, wife of Jean Doucet, residing at Middle River, who passed away at Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at the age of 76 years.  Born at Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Pitre and the late Meldona Couture.  Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Monique Doucet (Armand Roy) of Nigadoo and her grandson Vincent Bertin (Sara Maude Frenette) also her great-granddaughter Clea.  One sister, Corinne Prince of Alberta.  Several nieces and nephews.  Besides her parents, she now rests with her brothers and sisters: Alexandre, Alfred, Leon, Doran, Patsy and Mildred.  There will be no visitation at the funeral home.  The funeral will take place Monday, September 29, 2025 at 2p.m. in the Notre Dame du Rosaire Church in Bathurst.  Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton Funeral Home, Bathurst.

 

Doran Pitre:  Elhatton’s Funeral Home (Bathurst, NB):  Doran Pitre (photo) 1952 - 2015:  Bathurst - Doran Pitre, 62, of Vanier Blvd., Bathurst, passed away Wednesday January 7, 2015, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a brief illness.  Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Ernest and Meldona (Couture) Pitre.  He was predeceased by his wife, Judy (Richard) Pitre.  He is survived by one daughter, Krystle Pitre (Patrick Guignard) of Bathurst.  One granddaughter, Layla Jade Duguay.  Three sisters: Mildred Pitre of Bathurst, Corinne Prince (Brian) of Edmonton, Alta. and Rosa Marie Pitre (John Doucet) of Middle River.  Two brothers: Alfred Pitre (Mary Anne) of Oshawa, Ont. and Leo Pitre (Patsy) of Ontario.  Several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.  There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at 2 p.m. from Holy Family Church, St. Peter Ave., Bathurst.  Donations in memory of Doran may be made to a charity of the donors choice.  Arrangements are care of Elhatton's Funeral Home, Bathurst.
