Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Thursday, 23 March 1961:  Ville Platte - Funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Ville Platte for Onezime Pitre, 76, of Ville Platte, who died at 7 p.m. Saturday at his home.  He is survived by five sons, Madison, Ezee, Aldes, Herbert and E.T. Pitre, all of Ville Platte; three daughters, Mrs. Lindsey Fontenot and Mrs. Horace Ardoin of Ville Platte, and Mrs. Marshall Soileau of Mamou; 26 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.  Burial was in the old cemetery, with Ardoin Funeral Home of Ville Platte in charge of arrangements.

Obituary:  The Town Talk (Alexandria, LA), Wednesday, 1 February 1961:  Ville Platte, La. - Funeral services were held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church here Tuesday for Mrs. Onezime Pitre, 73, who died at her home Monday after a cerebral hemorrhage.  Burial was in the Old Cemetery under direction of Ardoin Funeral Home.  Mrs. Pitre, the former Edmonie Pitre, is survived by her husband; five sons, Aldes Pitre, Madison Pitre, E.T. Pitre, Ezee Pitre and Herbert Pitre, all of Ville Platte; and three daughters, Mrs. Lindsey Fontenot, Mrs. Horace Ardoin and Mrs. Marshall Soileau, all of Ville Platte.

Joseph Herbert Pitre:  The Town Talk (Alexandria, LA), Thursday, 5 February 1981:  Ville Platte - Herbert "Black" Pitre, 75, of Ville Platte died at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Ville Platte General Hospital.  Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Ryder Pitre of Ville Platte; one son, Aswell Glenn Pitre of Ville Platte; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Albert Miller of Eunice and Mrs. Joseph Fontenot of Ville Platte; three brothers, E.T. Pitre, Madison Pitre and Easy Pitre, all of Ville Platte; two sisters, Mrs. Lindsey Fontenot and Mrs. Horace Ardoin, both of Ville Platte; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Our Lady Queen of All Saints.  Burial will be in Old Ville Platte Cemetery under direction of Ardoin.

Georgiana Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Tuesday, 24 March 1987:  Ville Platte - Funeral services for Mrs. Lindsey Fontenot, the former Georgiana Pitre, 80, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church here with burial in the old Ville Platte Cemetery.  Mrs. Fontenot, a resident of Ville Platte, died at 1:30 a.m. today in Maison de Sante Nursing Home after a short illness.  Survivors include three sons, Jessie Mae Fontenot and Ollie Mae Fontenot, both of Ville Platte, Roland Fontenot of Mamou; a daughter, Mrs. Florance (Versie) Thompson of Ville Platte; two brothers, Madison and E.T. Pitre, both of Ville Platte; a sister, Mrs. Golbert Ortego of Ville Platte; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  Visitation will be through 10 p.m. today and from 7 a.m. Wednesday to time of services in Ardoin Funeral Home of Ville Platte, which is in charge of arrangements.  A rosary will be recited at 7:30 a.m. today.

 

Alizzie Mary 'Mazie' Pitre:  The Ville Platte Gazette (Ville Platte, LA), Tuesday, 24 August 1971:  Chapel funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Sunday at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Mamou for Mrs. Marshall Soileau, 64, of Mamou, who died at 12:30 p.m. Friday at her residence following a brief illness.  Burial was in the new Catholic Cemetery.  She was the former Maisie Pitre.  Survivors include her husband; three sons, Larry Fontenot of Alexandria, Harris Soileau of Morgan City and Wayne Soileau of Easton; six daughters, Mrs. Elwood Bertrand of Krotz Springs, Mrs. Willis Fontenot of Port Arthur, Mrs. Charles Lejeune of Eunice, Mrs. Cecil Prejean of Mamou, Mrs. Frank Gaspard of Pasadena, Tex., and Mrs. Jeffery Reed of Morgan City.  Also surviving are four brothers, Madison Pitre, Ezary Pitre, Black Pitre and E. T. Pitre, all of Ville Platte; two sisters, Mrs. Lindsey Fontenot and Mrs. Horace Ardoin, both of Ville Platte; also, twenty-four grandchildren.

Fontenot Cemetery.  Mr. Pitre, a resident of Ville Platte, died at 2:20 a.m. Sunday in Savoy Medical Center in Mamou.  Survivors include: his wife, Elna Fontenot Pitre of Ville Platte; a daughter, Mrs. Rayford (Delores) Chapman of Ville Platte; a sister, Mary Lou Ortego of Ville Platte.  Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte was in charge of arrangements.

 

Mary Lou Pitre:  The Ville Platte Gazette (Ville Platte, LA), Sunday, 8 May 2005:  Mary Ortego, October 8, 1910 - May 4, 2005 - Funeral services were held for Mary Ortego, 94, of Ville Platte, at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Ville Platte at 10 a.m., Friday, May 6.  Burial followed in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery.  A retired seamstress, Ms. Ortego died at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at Opelousas General Hospital after a short illness.  Survivors include one daughter, Eula Mae Ardoin Kennerson of Lawtell; four step-sons, Percy Ortego of Carencro, Carol Ortego and Harold Ortego, both of Opelousas, and Hilliard Ortego of Eunice; three step-daughters, Ruby Ortego and Shirley Collier, both of Ville Platte, and Janell Lafleur of Grand Prairie; six grandchildren; 27 step-grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Ardoin; second husband, Golbert Ortego; and one son, Frenchi Ardoin.  Father Randy Moreau officiated.  Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte was in charge of arrangements.

 

Aldes Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Thursday, 23 July 1964:  Ville Platte - Funeral services were held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Tuesday for Aldes Pitre, 51, who died unexpectedly at 11 a.m. while at work at the Ville Platte Medical Center.  Pitre has been an orderly at the hospital for the past 16 years.  Surviving are his widow, the former Delia Fontenot; one daughter, Mrs. Floyd Richard, Ville Platte; four brothers, Madison, Herbert, Easay and E.T. Pitre, all of Ville Platte, three sisters, Mrs. Horace Ardoin and Mrs. Lindsey Fontenot of Ville Platte and Mrs. Marshall Soileau of Mamou, and four grandchildren.  Interment was in the old Ville Platte cemetery with Ardoin Funeral Home in charge.

 

Easy Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Monday, 15 August 1983:  Ville Platte - Funeral services for Mr. Easy Pitre, 68, were to be held at 2 p.m. today in Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church here with burial in Gates of Heaven Cemetery.  Mr. Pitre, a retired city employee of Ville Platte, died at 12:30 p.m. Sunday in Savoy Memorial Hospital of Mamou following a short illness.  Survivors include his wife, the former Euna Guillory of Ville Platte; a son, Gerald W. Pitre of Ville Platte; two brothers, Madison Pitre of Belaire Cove and E.T. Pitre of Ville Platte; two sisters, Mrs. Lindsey Fontenot and Mrs. Horace Ardoin, both of Ville Platte.  Ardoin Funeral Home of Ville Platte is directing.

 

E. T. Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Tuesday, 1 November 1988:  Ville Platte - Funeral services for Mr. E.T. "Pete" Pitre, 69, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church here with burial in Gates of Heaven Cemetery.  Mr. Pitre, a resident of Ville Platte, died at 11:02 p.m. Monday in Humana Hospital in Ville Platte.  Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Rose Thompson Pitre of Ville Platte; two sons, Waven Luke Pitre of St. Angelo, Texas, and Ricky Dwaine Pitre of Charleston, S.C.; three daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Drella Bee) Pitre of New Orleans, Mrs. Milton (Grace) Brown of Oakdale and Mrs. Paul (Cynthia) Barnaby of Mansfield; a brother, Madison Pitre of Ville Platte; a sister, Mrs. Golbert (Mary Lou) Ortego of Ville Platte; 13 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.  The funeral home will be open all night and a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.  Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte is in charge of arrangements.
