Obituary:  The Town Talk (Alexandria, LA), Thursday, 5 February 1981:  Ville Platte - Herbert "Black" Pitre, 75, of Ville Platte died at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Ville Platte General Hospital.  Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Ryder Pitre of Ville Platte; one son, Aswell Glenn Pitre of Ville Platte; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Albert Miller of Eunice and Mrs. Joseph Fontenot of Ville Platte; three brothers, E.T. Pitre, Madison Pitre and Easy Pitre, all of Ville Platte; two sisters, Mrs. Lindsey Fontenot and Mrs. Horace Ardoin, both of Ville Platte; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Our Lady Queen of All Saints.  Burial will be in Old Ville Platte Cemetery under direction of Ardoin.

Obituary:  The Eunice News (Eunice, LA), Thursday, 22 April 1993:  Ville Platte - Funeral services will be held at Our Lady Queen of All Saints in Ville Platte at 4 p.m., today, April 22, for Mrs. Evelyn Pitre, 79, with burial following in the old Ville Platte Cemetery.  Mrs. Pitre, a resident of Ville Platte, died at 6:45 a.m., Wednesday, April 21, 1993 at Lafayette General after a long illness.  Mrs. Pitre was a retired nurse's aide.  She was the former Evelyn Rider.  Survivors include her son, Aswell Glenn Pitre of Baytown, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Albert (Etheline) Miller of Eunice and Mrs. Joseph (Georgiana) Fontenot of Ville Platte; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.  Ardoin's of Ville Platte is in charge of arrangements.
