Obituary:  The Town Talk (Alexandria, LA), Wednesday, 11 November 1931:  Oberlin, La., Nov. 11 - (Special) - Lucius Pitre, aged 66 years, for many years a resident of this locality, died at the home of his son, Actor Pitre, about 3 o'clock Monday afternoon.  Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Catholic church here, with interment in the Durio cemetery, where he was laid to rest beside his wife who preceded him to the grave by two years.  While Mr. Pitre's health had been failing for some time, he was not considered in immediate danger, and his sudden death was a great shock to his many relatives and friends.  He was born in St. Landry parish, and was married and spent his early married life at Prairie Rhone, near Opelousas, removing to the neighborhood of Oberlin some twenty years ago.  He is survived by six sons and one daughter, being Actor, Remi, Marius, Euzebe, Araste and Noah Pitre, and Mrs. Albia Deshotels, all living near by except Remi who is at Mamou and Noah, who lives near Pitkin.  There are also several grandchildren, a brother, Theogene Pitre, of Prairie Rhone, in St. Landry parish, and a sister and other relatives.

Obituary:  Weekly Town Talk (Alexandria, LA), Saturday, 2 August 1930:  Oberlin, La., July 25 - (Special) - Mrs. Martha Fuselier Pitre, wife of Lucius Pitre, died at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Albia Deshotels, two miles northwest of Elizabeth, Wednesday evening about 9 o'clock, after a short illness.  Funeral services were held at the Catholic church in Oberlin Thursday afternoon, with interment at the Durio cemetery, three miles northeast of town, Rev. Father J.M. Bourgeois, of the Catholic church here, conducting the rites.  Mrs. Pitre was born in St. Landry parish, sixty-four years ago.  Some time after their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Pitre removed to this community and have since made their home here.  Besides her husband, she leaves six sons, Euzebe Pitre, of Iowa, La.; Actor Pitre, of Oberlin; Remi Pitre, of Jennings, Marius Pitre, of Ville Platte, Adreste Pitre, of Elizabeth and Noah Pitre, of Pitkin, and one daughter, Mrs. Albia Deshotels, of near Elizabeth.

Obituaries for the children:

Hector 'Actor' Pitre:  The Baytown Sun (Baytown, TX), Sunday, 22 December 1968:  Actor Pitre, 82, of 5433 Almeda-Genoa, Houston, died Friday morning in a Houston hospital.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 4577 and of the Holy Name Society.  Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Theodile L. Pitre; three sons, Howard L. Pitre and Herbert W. Pitre, both of Baytown, and John W. Pitre of Texas City; four daughters, Mrs. Lloyd Boudloche of Baytown, Mrs. Eric V. Moody, Mrs. Mary B. Miller and Mrs. Dan J. Weber, all of Houston; and one brother, Noah Pitre of Overland, La.  Seventeen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive him.  A Rosary was said at 8 p.m. Friday at the Earthman Gulf Freeway Chapel.  Funeral mass was said at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Saint Phillip Neri Catholic Church.  Interment was in Resurrection Cemetery.

 

Euzebe Pitre:  The Town Talk (Alexandria, LA), Wednesday, 9 January 1957:  Oberlin - Ezab Pitre, 67, died Tuesday at 11 a.m. in a Pineville hospital.  Services were to be held from the St. Joan of Arc Catholic church today at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Frederick LaBrake officiating.  Interment is to be in the Oberlin cemetery.

Alexandre Remi Pitre:  The Town Talk (Alexandria, LA), Wednesday, 3 January 1951:  Oakdale, La., Jan 3 - (Special) - Funeral services for Remi Pitre aged 59 were held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Oberlin Catholic church with Rev. Otto Judd officiating.  Mr. Pitre died Sunday in a clinic in Kinder.  Burial was in the Oberlin Catholic Cemetery under direction of Ardoin Funeral Home of Oakdale.  Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ledia Pitre; one daughter, Mrs. Ernestine LeDeaux of Eunice, five brothers, Actor Pitre of Oberlin; Araste, Noah and Morris all of Oberlin and Ezube of Reeves.  Also surviving are three grandchildren.

Isore Martha Pitre:  Weekly Town Talk (Alexandria, LA), Saturday, 9 December 1950:  Mrs. Ezora Deshotel, age 56, died at 8:45 a.m. Dec. 1 at the Oakdale Infirmary.  She was a nine year resident of Oberlin, La.  Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at the Oberlin Catholic church with Father Otto Judd officiating.  Burial was in the Oberlin Cemetery under direction of Ardoin Funeral Home of Oakdale.  Survivors include her husband; Mrs. Delma Sonnier of Oberlin; six brothers, A. Pitre, Morris, Renie, Noah and Actor all of Oberlin and Ezeb Pitre of Reeves.  Also surviving is one grandchild.

Noe 'Noah' Pitre:  The Town Talk (Alexandria, LA), Monday, 30 June 1975:  Oakdale, La. - Noah Pitre, 74, of Oakdale died at 4:15 a.m. Sunday in a Houma nursing home.  Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Ardoin Funeral Home with Rev. Rudolf Gordon officiating.  Burial will be in Pine Chapel Cemetery.

 

Marius 'Morris' Pitre:  The Town Talk (Alexandria, LA), Tuesday, 8 July 1958:  Oberlin, La. - Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m. today for Morris Pitre, 55, who died here Monday.  Services were held from the Joan of Arc Catholic church with burial in the Oberlin cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home.  Survivors include his widow; two sons, Lloyd Pitre of Lake Charles and Clint P. Pitre of Oberlin; one daughter, Mrs. Anthony Conberrel of Sherman, Texas; three brothers, Aras, Acton and Noah Pitre, and seven grandchildren.
