Obituary:  The Town Talk (Alexandria, LA), Wednesday, 3 January 1951:  Oakdale, La., Jan 3 - Funeral services for Remi Pitre aged 59 were held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Oberlin Catholic church with Rev. Otto Judd officiating.  Mr. Pitre died Sunday in a clinic in Kinder.  Burial was in the Oberlin Catholic Cemetery under direction of Ardoin Funeral Home of Oakdale.  Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ledia Pitre; one daughter, Mrs. Ernestine LeDeaux of Eunice, five brothers, Actor Pitre of Oberlin; Araste, Noah and Morris all of Oberlin and Ezube of Reeves.  Also surviving are three grandchildren.

- Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Thursday, 4 January 1951:  Reine Pitre, 59 years, of Oberlin, died Sunday at a Kinder hospital.  Services were held the following afternoon at the Oberlin Catholic church.  Surviving are his wife, the former Lisa Richard of Basile, two sons and two daughters, Bruce and Toot of Oberlin, Mrs. Ernest Ledoux of Eunice.

Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Thursday, 29 March 1951:  Basile - Mrs. Valentine Johnson, 66 years, the former Corinne Durio, died at her home here this morning at three o'clock following a short illness.  The body is resting at the family home.  Services will be read tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock at the St. Augustine Catholic church in Basile with Father Armand Cyr officiating.  Burial will be in the adjacent cemetery.  Mrs. Johnson was a native of Oberlin but a long-time resident of Basile.  She is survived by her husband; one son, John Sonnier of Basile; a daughter, Mrs. Ernest Ledoux of Eunice; one stepson, Louis Johnson of Basile; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Ned Aguillard and Mrs. Miduel Duhon of Basile, Mrs. Henry Rose of Jennings, Mrs. James Fontenot of Eunice; four brothers, Darmas, Louis and Auguste Durio, Jr. of Oberlin, Lee Durio of Lake Charles; three sisters, Mrs. Lucien Sonnier and Mrs. Gil Darbonne of Oberlin, Mrs. Barnie Andrus of Eunice.

Obituary:  The Daily Advertiser (Lafayette, LA), Monday, 2 December 1991:  (photo) Mrs. Lelia R. McGee.  Funeral services will be held today at a 2 p.m. Mass of Christian burial in the Martin and Castille Funeral Home chapel for Mrs. Lelia R. McGee, 73, the former Lelia Marie Richard, who died at 3 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, 1991, at her residence in Lafayette.  Interment will be in the St. Augustine Cemetery in Basile, La.  The Rev. Joseph F. Brennan, pastor of St. Genevieve Catholic Church, will be celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the services.  Survivors include: three daughters, Dottie Michaud and Theresa McGee of Lafayette, and Peggy M. Richard of St. Martinville; three sons, Thomas Vidrine of Summerville, S.C., Bruce Pitre Sr. of Chesapeake, Va. and Joe Pitre of Lake Charles; 20 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Bertha Mott of Moss Bluff and a brother, Delmar Richard of Iowa.  A native of Basile and a former resident of Eunice, Mrs. McGee had been a resident of Lafayette for 20 years.  She was the daughter of the late Adam Richard and the former Laurina Chelera, both natives of Basile.  Mrs. McGee was a member of the St. Genevieve Catholic Community.  A Rosary was recited Sunday evening in the funeral home.  Visitation will be held today from 8 a.m. until service time.  Martin and Castille Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Gladys Pitre:  The Eunice News (Eunice, LA), Thursday, 22 December 1977:  Mrs. Ernest Ledoux, the former Gladys Pitre, 67, of Eunice, died December 20 at 3 a.m. at Moosa Memorial Hospital after a long illness.  Services were held at St. Anthony's Catholic Church at 9 a.m. Wednesday followed by burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin's Funeral Home.  Survivors include her husband, Ernest Ledoux of Eunice; two sons, John Ernest Ledoux of Lafayette and Joseph Earl Ray Ledoux of Eunice; one daughter, Mrs. Geraldine Meeks of Baton Rouge; a half-brother, John Sonnier of Basile; and seven grandchildren.

Thomas Jefferson Pitre:  The Kinder Courier News (Kinder, LA), Thursday, 1 May 1980:  Funeral services were held for Mr. Thomas J. Pitre, 52, of Kinder Wednesday, April 23 at 2 PM at his residence with the Rev. William Reed officiating.  Burial followed in the St. Luke Cemetery under direction of Ardoin's Funeral Home of Kinder.  Mr. Pitre died Tuesday, April 22 at 8:30 AM at the Kinder Hospital of a lengthy illness.  He was a retired plumber and a veteran of Korean Conflict.  Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Florine Pitre of Kinder; and several nieces and nephews.

Alexander Bruce Pitre:  American Press (Lake Charles, LA), Saturday, 6 March 2021:  Alexander "Bruce" Pitre Sr., 78, of Chesapeake, VA, passed away after a battle with liver cancer on March 2, 2021 surrounded by his girlfriend of 15 years KellyAnn D'Amalio and family and friends.  He was born in Basile, LA on January 12, 1943 to the late Alexander "Remi" Pitre and Lezia Margaret Richard McGee.  He was raised at Boys Village in Lake Charles, LA.  Served in the US Navy from 1960-1966, married on February 5, 1964, raised three children, Susan Pitre, Kerry Lynn Allen (Mark), Alexander B. Pitre Jr.  He is survived by five grandchildren; Elizabeth McNeil (Robert), Krislynn Allen, Victoria Allen, Jessica Pitre, Isabella Perkins, and thirteen great-grandchildren, he is also survived by his brother Adam J. Pitre and three sisters Dorothy Michard, Theresa McGee, Peggy Frey and predeceased by three siblings Thomas Vidrene, Gladace La Doux, TJ Pitre.  He moved to Chesapeake in 1974 where he worked for the City Police Department, as well as the City Public Works.  He was a member of the Chesapeake City Retirees Association, a fourth degree Knight of 38 years in the Knights of Columbus, Council #11984, All Saints Assembly Father Richardson Council, member of St. Stephen the Martyr Church.  We would like to express our deep gratitude to Medi Home Hospice, Dr. Felip Tiongco, Physician's Assistant Mary Corley; Fr. Jim Connelly for all they have done to ease the passing of Bruce.  There will be a memorial service at Altmeyer Funeral Homes- Chesapeake Chapel on Monday, March 8, 2021 at 2 PM.  In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to Knights of Columbus at St. Stephen's the Martyr, or the American Cancer Society, both that represented Bruce's passion like no other.
