Mary Elizabeth Pitre:  l'Acadie Nouvelle (Caraquet, NB), Monday, 26 March 2007:  South Tetagouche - At the Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst on Friday, March 23, 2007, at the age of 102, passed away after a short illness Elizabeth Henry, wife of the late  Albert J. Henry, formerly of South Tetagouche.  Born at South Tetagouche, she was the daughter of the late Jerome and Margaret (Legacy) Pitre.  She is survived by three daughters: Marcella Pitre (Donald) and Norma Comeau (Emile), both of Beresford and  Jeannette Pitre (Jean-Claude) of South Tetagouche; two sons: Valmond Henry (Marie-Anne) of Nicholas Denys and Medric Henry (Bernice) of Smokey Lake, Alb.; one brother, Stafford Pitre (Leona) of Sainte-Anne, Gloucester County, as well as 22 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  Her husband, Albert J. Henry, in 1981, predeceased her.  There will be no visitation at the funeral home.  The funeral will take place in Sainte Famille Church, St. Pierre avenue, Bathurst, Tuesday, March 27, at 4 p.m.  The burial will take place at Ste. Marie Madeleine Cemetery in South Tetagouche later this spring.  For those who wish, the family would appreciate a donation to the Palliative Care Unit at the Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst or to a charity of your choice.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Elhatton Funeral Home in Bathurst.

Joseph Leonard Pitre:  The Times Transcript (Moncton, NB), Saturday, 10 April 1965:  Bathurst - The death of Leonard Pitre of St. Anne occurred at his home Friday at the age of 55.  He was born at South Tetagouche, son of the late Gerald and Margaret (Legacy) Pitre and was a resident of the community for most of his life.  Mr. Pitre was an employee of the public works department for four years until he became ill five months ago.  Surviving, besides his wife, the former Regina Chamberlain, are five sons, Elzear and Omer, both of Prosscha, Sask.; Eugene, Emile and Robert, at home; four daughters, Mrs. Stanley Gauthier (Florida), St. Anne; Mrs. Fred Pitre (Marian) and Mrs. Ben Legacy (Delima), both of South Tetagouche, and Anita, at home; five brothers, Philias, Shawbridge, Que.; Alex and Denis, South Tetagouche; Donat, Bathurst; and Stafford, St. Anne; two sisters, Mrs. Downing Smith (Theresa), St. Anne and Mrs. Albert Henry (Bella), South Tetagouche, and several grandchildren.  The body is resting at the home, St. Anne.  The funeral will be held Monday at 9 a.m. in Holy Family Church, West Bathurst.  Entombment will be in the West Bathurst cemetery vault pending interment later in the spring.

 

Denis Pitre:  The Times Transcript (Moncton, NB), Friday, 15 July 1966:  Bathurst - A Mace Construction employee at the Brunswick Mining and Smelting Corporation site, about 20 miles south of here, died at the Hotel Dieu Thursday morning as a result of injuries sustained in a fall.  Denis Pitre, 55, of South Tetagouche, was engaged in the building of an extension to the concentrator at the site when he fell a distance of approximately 19 feet on a cement floor.  The accident occurred on Wednesday morning about 11:20 o'clock and he was taken to Hotel Dieu in Bathurst.  He had been a Mace employee for the past 19 months.  Mr. Pitre was born in Bathurst, son of the late Jerome and Margaret (Legacy) Pitre.  He was a veteran of the Second World War and served overseas with the Forestry Corps.  He is survived by his wife, the former Macrina Gauthier, five sons Raymond and Rheal at home, Gerard, Cajetan and Alphe of Bathurst, five daughters Mrs. Emile Comeau (Margaret), Bathurst, Mrs. Real Bertin (Leona), Beresford, Theresa, Jacqueline and Monique all at home, three brothers, Alex, Donat and Stafford, Bathurst, and two sisters, Mrs. Albert Henry (Elizabeth), Bathurst and Mrs. Theresa Smyth of St. Anne.  The body will rest at the home of his sister, Mrs. Smyth of St. Anne.  The funeral will be held to Marie Magdalene Roman Catholic Church, South Tetagouche on Sunday morning at 9 o'clock.  An inquest has been ordered into the fatality by Gloucester County coroner Dr. J. D. Carson.  No date was set.  Members of the coroners jury viewed the body Thursday night.  On the jury are Rudolph Doucet, Ray Christie, Aurele LeBlanc, Victor McLean, Phillip Comeau and Harold Baxter.

 

Joseph Donat Pitre:  Elhatton’s Funeral Home (Bathurst, NB):  Donat Pitre, of the Villa Chaleur, Bathurst, passed away on Friday (February 10, 2006) at his residence at the age of 93.  Born in South Tetagouche, he was the son of the late Jerome and Marguerite (Lagace) Pitre.  He was pre-deceased by his first wife Lea (Comeau) Pitre in 1978.  He is survived by his wife, Cecilia Duguay.  Eight children from his first marriage: Four sons: Avila Pitre (Adrienne) of Robertville, Yvon Pitre (Nicole) and Edmond Pitre (Francine) both of Ste Anne, Glou. Co., Jean-Louis Pitre of Bathurst; Four daughters: Jeannine Legacy (Alex) of Nigadoo, Diane Comeau (Paul) of Bathurst, Lorraine Ouelette (André) and Laurette Doiron (Léo) both of Tracadie-Sheila, NB; One brother: Stafford Pitre (Leona) of Ste Anne, Glou. Co.; One sister: Elizabeth 'Bella' Henry (late Albert) of LaPlante; Five step-grandchildren: Marguerite Robichaud (Gerald) of Allardville, Jean-Paul Duguay (Ida) of South Tetagouche, Alfred Duguay of Saint John, NB, Maria Gauvin (Leonard) of Allardville, Patrice Duguay (Debbie) of Bathurst, 20 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  He was pre-deceased by six brother; Edmund, Georges, Philias, Alexandre, Léonard, Denis and a sister, Therese.  The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday evening (February 13, 2006) at Elhatton's Funeral Home, Bathurst, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday afternoon (February 14, 2006) at 4:00 p.m. from Holy Rosary Church, St. Peter Ave, Bathurst. Burial will be in the parish cemetery in the spring.

 

Joseph Stafford Pitre:  Elhatton’s Funeral Home (Bathurst, NB): Stafford Pitre (photo) 1915 - 2016:  Sainte-Anne, Glou. Co., NB - Stafford Pitre of Sainte-Anne, Glou. Co., passed away on Saturday November 12, 2016, at the age of 100, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst.  Born in South Tetagouche, he was the son of the late Jerome and Marguerite (Legacy) Pitre.  He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.  He is survived by his wife of 79 years, Léona (Noël) Pitre, and his ten children: Stanisclaus (Malvina), Evangelist (late Joanne), Agatha Doucet (Roger), Harold (Jeannette), Carson (Raymonde), Rose-Helen Jackson (late David) and Joan Legacy (Raymond) all of Sainte-Anne, Harvey (Helen), Levin (Tina) both of Ontario and Wanita Legacy (Eloi) of Middle River.  34 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.  Several nieces and nephews.  Three daughters-in-law: Marie-Rose Pitre of Sainte-Anne, Gladys Pitre of Ontario and Claudine Pitre of Hamilton.  One son-in-law, Gerard Landry of Bathurst.  He was predeceased by three sons: Clinton, Rodrick, Kenneth; a daughter, Mariette Landry and several brothers and sisters.  There will be no visitation at the funeral home.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday afternoon November 16, 2016, at 4 p.m. from Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Bathurst.  Donations in memory of Stafford may be made to a charity of the donors choice.  Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton Funeral Home, Bathurst.
 

Marie Therese Pitre:  L'Acadie Nouvelle (Caraquet, NB), Tuesday, 5 August 1997:  Sainte-Anne - At the Bathurst Regional Hospital, on Sunday, August 3, 1997, at the age of 79 years, Theresa Boudreau passed away, residing at Sainte-Anne.  She was the wife of first husband the late Downing Smith and second husband Edgar Boudreau.
