Louise 'Leona' Irene Peters: The Sudbury Star (ONT), 8 March 2003: Hould, Leona Mary (nee Peters) In loving memory of Leona Mary Hould (nee Peters), 91 years who passed away Thursday, March 6th, 2003 at the Extendicare-Falconbridge Sudbury. Leona was born on June 27, 1911 in Tignish P.E.I. and came to Sudbury in the early 1930’s. It was here she met and married Irvin Hould on August 16, 1948. Leona was a well liked and respected Certified Nursing Assistant and had worked in the maternity ward of the old St. Joseph’s Hospital for many years. She loved welcoming and guiding her co-workers and was known as a mentor to many of them. Leona was also known for her hospitality and a good party at Leona’s wasn’t uncommon. Leona was a member of CUPE Local 161 during her years at St. Joseph’s. The happiest times is when she held a baby in her arms and when she was playing her harmonica. After her retirement in 1975 Leona spent her time with her flowers and was always partial to Red Geraniums, which could always be found around her home and in the garden. Leona’s love for down east music especially Don Messer and his Islanders showed in her joy and ability to play the spoons and in the tapping of her feet. Leona enjoyed a good joke and could receive as well as she gave. One of her favorite quotes was "In all the things you wear your expression is the most important" this was evident in her constant smile. Many will remember the family gatherings where there was always laughter, a joke or two or more and plenty of food. She was devoted to her loving family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Leona was a devout Roman Catholic and is now at peace with her maker, where she will be smiling down upon all those who knew and loved her. Beloved wife of Irvin J. Hould of Sudbury. Loving mother of Kenneth (wife Linda) of Sudbury. Cherished grandmother of Jason (companion Charlene) Hould and Stacey Hould; great-grandchild Jaya Hould. Dear daughter of Bruno and Mary (Chiasson) Peters predeceased. Dear sister of Frank Peters of Florida and the late Bennett, Fred, Henry, John, Melvin, Wilfred and William Peters, Kate Doucette, Anne Bernard, Mary Myers and Angie all predeceased. Sadly missed by many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and the loving staff at Extendicare-Falconbridge. Resting at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, Sudbury. Funeral Prayers in the R.J. Barnard Chapel, Monday, March 10th, 2003 at 10 a.m. Interment in the Sudbury Catholic Cemetery. Donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated.
