Obituary:  Ogdensburg Advance, Thursday 7 July 1904: HELENA. Death of Peter Lashombe - Peter Lashombe who has been sick for the past year, passed away Friday by dropsy, aged 70 years 8 months.  Mr. Lashombe was a man of excellent habits, was liked by all.  He leaves a wife and large family of grown children.  The funeral was held on Monday, burial in the Catholic cemetery at Brasher Falls.

 

Probate of Peter Lashomb of Brasher:  On 2 November 1904 Albert Lashomb applied to have the will proved and recorded.  Heirs are Almyra Lashomb widow, Jennie Lashomb, William Lashomb, Henry Lashomb, Fred Lashomb, Albert Lashomb of Brasher, Ellen Bostic of Derrick, Hannah Youmell and Elmer Lashomb of N. Lawrence, Lizzie Smith of Canlin, and Peter Lashomb of Sackett's Harbor.  All property real & personal bequeathed to widow; to daughters Ellen Bostic, Hannah Youmell, Jennie Lashomb & Lizzie Smith each $300; to sons William, Elmer & Peter each $200.  No provision for son Charles Henry to whom has already been given $400; to son Fred $300; all the rest to son Albert who should arrange all burial expenses upon his mother's death and erect at their graves a suitable monument.

Obituary:  St. Lawrence Republican: Wednesday 5 Apr 1916: Mrs. Elmira Lashomb, who moved here from Brasher about 10 years ago died at her home here Saturday afternoon April 1st after a long illness.  Mrs. Lashomb was born in Brasher 78 years ago and resided in that town for a great many years.  For the past year she has been ill and unable to care for her home and has been cared for by her son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Lashomb, who moved from their home north of the village to their mother’s home here.  The funeral services were held at the Catholic church here Monday morning, April 3rd, Father St. Jacques officiating, burial in the Catholic cemetery at Brasher Falls.  Those left to mourn the loss of this mother and sister are her daughters Mrs. Charles Bostic and Mrs. Levi Youmell of this place, Henry, Fred and Bert Lashomb of Brasher, Peter of Antwerp, and her sisters, Mrs. Eliza Lashomb of Fort Jackson, Mrs. Anna Mousow of Bellingham, Washington, and Mrs. Alice Crapser of Nashua, Iowa, and her brothers, Moses Quinell of this place, Julius Quinell of Lawrenceville, Paul Quinell of Helena, Levi Quinell of Massena.
 

Obituaries for the children:

Ellen Lashomb:  Massena Observer, Thursday, 18 February 1926:  Mrs. Ellen Bostic, wife of Charles Bostic, passed away at her home in this village Sunday evening, February 7, after several months' illness, aged 70 year.  She was born in Brasher, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Lashomb and was united in marriage with Charles Bostic about 46 years ago and had had lived in this village nearly all the time since their marriage.  Mrs. Bostic was highly respected and made many friend by her quite, unassuming ways and will be missed by a large circle of relatives and friends.  She is survived by her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Peter Post, of Canton; two sisters, Mrs. l.evi Youmell, of this village, and Mrs. Lizzie O'Keefe, of Syracuse; five brothers, Henry, Fred and Bert Lashomb, of Brasher, Peter Lashomb of Florida, and Elmer Lashomb, of this village.  The funeral services were held in the Catholic church Tuesday morning, Rev. J. L. St. Jacques officiating.  Burial was made in Brasher Falls.

 

Charles Henry Lashomb:  Commercial Advertiser 1945, Brasher Falls: Henry Peter Lashamb, 86, a retired farmer, died Sunday evening (January 21st) at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Ormsby.  Funeral services were held at 10 o’clock.  The body was placed in a vault and burial will be made in St. Patrick’s Cemetery here in the spring.  Mr. Lashomb was born in Brasher Falls, a son of Peter and Elmira Quenell Lashomb.  He married Miss Anna Lalone of Canada.  He operated a farm until a few years ago. The couple went to live with their daughter.  He is survived by his wife, two sons, Melvin of Potsdam, Walter of this village, two daughters, Mrs. Lawrence Layo and Mrs. Ormsby, three brothers, Peter of Antwerp, Fred of this place, and Bert of Massena, one sister, Mrs. O’Keefe.

 

Anne 'Hannah' Lashomb:    Massena Observer, Tuesday 21 June 1938: Mrs. Youmell Dies Suddenly at age of 76: Mrs. Hannah Lashomb Youmell, has died suddenly yesterday morning at her home at 13 Clark St.  She had been in declining health for the past six months.  Mrs. Youmell had arisen as usual about -- o'clock yesterday morning and was getting breakfast when she suffered a heart attack about 6 o'clock and died within a few minutes.  Dr. Herbert Engel was called but Mrs. Youmell was dead when he arrived.  Born in Maple Ridge District of the Town of Brasher, May 17, 1862, a daughter of Peter and Elmira Quenelle, she was married on July 3, 1884, to Levi Youmell at Brasher Falls.  The couple lived here for four years and then went to North Lawrence where Mr. Youmell managed farms, operated a store and conducted an undertaking establishment until he retired 12 years ago and came to live in Massena.  They had eight children, all of them died before they were a year old.  Surviving are the husband, an adopted son, Earl Doren Youmell, Watertown; three brothers, Henry Lashomb, Maple Ridge; Peter Lashomb, Antwerp; Bert Lashomb, Brasher, and one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth O'Keefe, Syracuse. The funeral will be held tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock at Sacred Heart Church with burial at St. Patrick's Cemetery at Brasher Falls.   
 

William Lashomb:  Ogdensburg Advance, Thursday, 23 November 1911, Brasher Falls: William P. Lashomb who lives in what is called Harmony died on Monday.  He has been a great sufferer and has had difficult operations during the past few years.  We understand it was a cancer in the stomach.  He was a hard working man and has a nice farm dwelling and was comfortably situated.  ---St. Lawrence Republican, Wednesday 29 November 1911: North Lawrence: William Lashomb who lived north of this village, died at his home Monday afternoon after a long illness.  He leaves to mourn his loss his wife and seven children, also brothers and sisters and his mother, all of whom have our sympathy.  The funeral services were held at the R.C. church here, Rev. St. Jacques, officiating.

 

Peter Lashomb:  Massena Observer, Thursday, 3 April 1952, Brasher Center:  Peter LaShomb, 82, who died in Antwerp Mar. 27, was a former resident of this town but has resided in Antwerp for many years.  His parents were Peter and Myra LaShomb.  He is survived by his wife and one brother, Bert LaShomb, Brasher Falls.

 

Jane 'Jennie' Lashomb:  St. Lawrence Republican, Wednesday, 9 June 1909:  The remains of Mrs. Hilliard were brought here from Massena last Tuesday for interment in the R. C. cemetery.  A large procession of friends accompanied them.

Ogdensburg Advance, Thursday, 3 June 1909, Brasher Falls:  The funeral of Mrs. Lizzie Hilliard of the Ridge is to be held here today.  She leaves a child three months old.

 

Frederick Joseph Lashomb:  Massena Observer, Thursday, 6 June 1946:  Fred Joseph LaShomb, 71, a life-long farmer on Maple Ridge, died at 5:15 Wednesday afternoon at his home.  He had been in declining health for the past two years.  Mr. LaShomb was born on Maple Ridge, Apr. 11, 1875, a son of Peter and Elmira Quenelle LaShomb.  He attended district schools and on Jan. 23, 1899 married Miss Adelaide Sawyer of Moose Creek, Ont.  They were married in Sacred Heart Church by Father Nolan, who was then pastor.  After their marriage they lived on the LaShomb farm for a number of years and then purchased the nearby Joseph Gray farm.  Mr. LaShomb retired two years ago when his health began to fail.  Surviving are his wife; two children, Mrs. Frank LaComb, S. Main St., and Eugene LaShomb, Brasher; one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth O’Keefe, Syracuse; two brothers, Peter LaShomb, Antwerp, and Bert LaShomb, 151 Center St.; five grandchildren.  A requiem high mass will be celebrated Saturday morning at 10 o’clock at Sacred Heart Church.  Burial will be made in Calvary Cemetery.

 

Elizabeth Lashomb:  Massena Observer, Thursday, 17 August 1950:  Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth LaShomb O'Keefe, 72, were held in Syracuse Saturday, Aug. 12, at 8:30 a.m. at the Martin funeral home and at 9:30 a.m. at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Fayetteville.  Interment took place in St. Agnes Cemetery.  Mrs. O'Keefe died after a long illness on Thursday, Aug. 10, 1950 in Syracuse.   A resident there for the past 40 years, she was born in Brasher Falls; a daughter of the late Peter and Elmira LaShomb.  Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Benjamin of North Syracuse and Mrs. Marion Silkworth of Daytona Beach, Fla., and two brothers, Peter LaShomb of Antwerp and Bert LaShomb of Brasher Falls; two grandchildren, Donald and Richard Benjamin and several nieces and nephews also survive.
