Misc:  Watertown Daily Times (Watertown, NY), Friday, 31 January 1936:  Massena, Jan. 31 - Fred J. Lashombe has purchased the Fisher Ames farm on Maple Ridge in the town of Brasher.  The farm consists of 150 acres and is joined on both sides by land owned either by Mr. Lashombe or his son, Eugene.  With this plot of land, the Lashombes own 600 acres.  Mr. and Mrs. John Premo who were tenants on the farm, have moved to Massena and are residing on Woodlawn avenue.  The house on the Ames farm burned a short time ago.

 

Obituary:  Massena Observer (NY), Thursday, 6 June 1946:  Fred Joseph LaShomb, 71, a life-long farmer on Maple Ridge, died at 5:15 Wednesday afternoon at his home.  He had been in declining health for the past two years.  Mr. LaShomb was born on Maple Ridge, Apr. 11, 1875, a son of Peter and Elmira Quenelle LaShomb.  He attended district schools and on Jan. 23, 1899 married Miss Adelaide Sawyer of Moose Creek, Ont.  They were married in Sacred Heart Church by Father Nolan, who was then pastor.  After their marriage they lived on the LaShomb farm for a number of years and then purchased the nearby Joseph Gray farm.  Mr. LaShomb retired two years ago when his health began to fail.  Surviving are his wife; two children, Mrs. Frank LaComb, S. Main St., and Eugene LaShomb, Brasher; one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth O’Keefe, Syracuse; two brothers, Peter LaShomb, Antwerp, and Bert LaShomb, 151 Center St.; five grandchildren.  A requiem high mass will be celebrated Saturday morning at 10 o’clock at Sacred Heart Church.  Burial will be made in Calvary Cemetery

Obituary:  Massena Observer (NY), Monday, 6 April 1959: Mrs. Adelaide Sawyer Lashomb, 80. widow of Fred Lashomb, died in Massena Memorial Hospital at 9:20 o'clock Friday night, Apr. 3, 1959.  She had been a patient in the hospital four days.  For 20 years she had been afflicted with Rheumatoid arthritis and her condition had become worse in the past three months.  Despite the severe pain caused by the affliction, Mrs. Lashomb remained cheerful.  She was always ready to smile.  The manner in which she bore the pain was commended by her physicians, friends and relatives.  She was born in Moose Creek, Ont., June 10, 1878. a daughter of Gasper and Sophia Houle Sawyer.  She moved with her parents to Massena when she was seven years old and had resided in this area since.  She and Mr. Lashomb were married in Sacred Heart Church Jan. 23, 1899, by the late Father Nolan.  They lived on their farm in Maple Ridge and Mr. Lashomb died June 5, 1946, just about a year after they had retired and moved to a smaller home.  Since then, Mrs. Lashomb has resided with her daughter, Mrs. Frank LaComb, 609 Main St.  She is the last of a family of 12 children.  Surviving are one daughter Mrs. Frank Estelle Lacomb, Massena, and one son Eugene Lashomb, Route 2, Brasher Falls; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.  Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, also grand nieces and grand nephews.  A requiem high mass was celebrated at Sacred Heart Church at 10 o'clock this morning, and the body was placed in the vault in Calvary Cemetery to await burial.  Mrs. Lashomb was a member of Sacred Heart Church and of the League of the Sacred Heart.

Estella Lashomb:  Massena Observer, Thursday, 3 September 1970:  Mrs. Estella LaComb, 69, of 609 South Main St., widow of Frank A. LaComb, died unexpectedly at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Leola) Robillard, Wednesday morning about 7:00, Sept. 2, 1970.  She had been in failing health since June following a fall at her home.  Friends may call at the Phillips Memorial Home this afternoon and evening.  Funeral services will be Friday at 12:00 noon at Sacred Heart Church, with burial in Calvary Cemetery.  The LCBA will recite the Rosary at the funeral home Thursday evening at 7:30.  Mrs. LaComb was born in Brasher, Sept. 29, 1900, the daughter of Fred and Adelaide Sawyer Lashomb.  She was married to Frank A. LaComb on Oct. 7, 1924 in Sacred Heart Church by the Rev. Benjamin Staie.  Mr. LaComb, a well-known bus driver for many years, died July 13, 1958.  Mrs. LaComb is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Leola) Robillard, 55 Chase St., Massena; two sons, Lyle LaComb, Ogdensburg; Gerald LaComb, Tupper Lake; four grandchildren; one brother, Eugene LaShomb, Brasher Falls; nieces and nephews.  She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, League of the Sacred Heart and a promoter in Ladies Catholic Benevolent Association.

Eugene Lawrence Lashomb:  Courier & Freeman (Potsdam, NY), Tuesday, 3 May 1983: BRASHER FALLS - Funeral Services for Eugene L. LaShomb, 79, Maple Ridge Road, Brasher Falls, were Friday (April 29, 1983) at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. Francis Croyer officiating.  Burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Brasher.  Arrangements were with the Phillips Memorial Home in Massena.  Mr. LaShomb died at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday (April 27, 1983) in the Massena Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient since Feb. 9.  Surviving are three sons, Gerald, Brasher, Barry, Cicero, and Ivan, Auburn; a daughter, Mrs. Craig (Jean) Stowell, Brasher Falls; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  He was predeceased by a sister, Stella LaComb, in 1970.  Mr. LaShomb was born in Brasher on July 22, 1903, son of Frederick and Adalaide Sawyer LaShomb.  He attended local schools and married Anna Berry in 1928.  That marriage ended in divorce and he later married Rosemary LaFramboise, who died in 1975.  For many years, Mr. LaShomb operated a farm on the Maple Ridge Road, retiring in 1970.  From 1982 to 1966, he was the owner and proprietor of Gardner's Hotel in Massena.
