Obituary:  Massena Observer (NY), Tuesday 26 September 1935:  Michael LaShomb, sr., 68, died at his home on West Hatfield street at 11:35 o'clock Sunday night.  He had been in declining health for about a year but his condition was serious only for about a week.  He was born in the town of Brasher, June 25, 1867, a son of Edward and Mary LaShomb.  In early life he married Miss Phoebe Deshane.  They lived on farms in Massena and Louisville.  She died in 1927 and in 1930 he married Mrs. Delia Gonyea, of Massena.  Surviving are his widow; five sons, Michael, jr., Vernon, Leland and George, all of Massena, and Robert, of Hopkinton; two daughters, Mrs. James Mahoney, Saranac Lake, and Mrs. Carl Stone, Norwood; thirteen grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. John Raymo, Massena-Winthrop road.  Funeral services were held Tuesday morning from Sacred Heart church and burial was made in the Catholic cemetery at Louisville.

Obituary:  Massena Observer (NY), Thursday 14 July 1927:  Mrs. Phoebe Deshane LaShomb, 50, wife of Michael LaShomb, of 34 Beach street, died at 1:00 o'clock Sunday morning at the family home.  She had been ill for the past seven months, death being due to a complication of diseases.  She was born at Waddington, on July 28, 1876, daughter of Louis and Julia Barcum Deshane.  She married Michael LaShomb, of Brasher Falls, 35 years ago and had since lived in Massena and vicinity.  Surviving, besides her husband, are two daughters, Mrs. James Mahoney, of Saranac Lake, and Corrine, of Massena; five sons, Michael, jr., Leland, Vernon, Robert and George, of Massena; and her mother, Mrs. Julia Deshane.  She was a communicant and also a member of the Sacred Heart League of St. Mary's church.  The funeral was held from the church Tuesday morning at 9:00 o'clock, Rev. J.M. Bellamy officiating.  Burial was in Calvary cemetery.

Obituary:  Syracuse Herald Journal (NY), Wednesday, 17 May 1950:  Potsdam - Mrs. Mary Bouchard Kelly, 73, of Norwood, died yesterday in the Potsdam hospital of a cerebral hemorrhage.  She was born at Lyon Mountain on May 10, 1877, daughter of Louis and Sophia Fortin Bouchard.  Survivors include two children, three stepsons, four stepdaughters, a brother and a sister.  Services will be at 9 A.M. Friday at St. Andrews Church in Norwood by the Rev. Francis Maguire, pastor.  Burial will be in St. Regis Falls Cemetery.

Michael James Lashomb:  Massena Observer (NY), Tuesday, 16 May 1961:  Michael J. Lashomb, 66, of 54 Rockaway St., died at his home at 3:30 Friday afternoon, May 12, 1961.  He had been ill since 1956 and seriously ill the past week.  The body remained at the Phillips Memorial Home until 10 Monday morning when services were held in Sacred Heart Church.  Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.  Mr. Lashomb was born Jan. 29, 1895 in Massena, the son of Michael and Phoebe Deshaies Lashomb.  He was educated in Norwood schools.  On Apr. 27, 1921 he and Josephine Deruchie were married in Massena.  For many years he was employed by the Hawes Lumber Company until 1956 when ill health forced his retirement.  He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a member of the Holy Name Society.  Surviving are his wife; one son, Paul D., Massena; three grandchildren; a foster daughter, Mrs. Fred (Irene) Gilbo, Massena; four brothers George and Leland Lashomb, both of Massena and Robert and Verne Lashomb, both of Chase Mills, and two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Mahoney of Massena and Mrs. Corrine Watson of Watertown.

Myrtle S. Lashomb:  Watertown Daily Times (NY), Wednesday, 4 May 1994:  Chase Mills - The funeral for Myrtle Fezette, 96, Chase Mills, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena, with Monsignor Floyd Brown presiding.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Massena.  Mrs. Fezette died at 10:10 a.m. Monday in Massena Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient since March 8.  Calling hours are 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.  Surviving are several nephews and nieces.  Five brothers, George, Michael, Bernard, Robert and Leland LaShomb, and a sister, Connie Miller, died before her.  Born in Massena on Dec. 6, 1897, a daughter of Michael and Pheobe DeShane LaShomb, she married James H. Mahoney in 1923 in Massena.  He died July 22, 1941.  She married Myron M. Fezette on Oct. 14,1961, at Sacred Heart Church, with the Rev. Maurice O'Neil presiding.  He died March 25, 1977.  Mrs. Fezette was a homemaker

Vernon E. Lashomb:  Massena Observer (NY), Thursday, 1 February 1968:  Vernon E. Lashomb, 67, of 80 N. Main St., died in the Massena Nursing Home at 6.15 a.m. this morning, (Feb. 1, 1968), after being in failing health several years.  Body is at Donaldson Funeral Home with calling hours from 2-4 and 7-9.  Funeral services will be held Saturday morning in Sacred Heart Church and burial will be made in the Spring in St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery, Louisville.  His son, James Lashomb, Norfolk, was killed in an automobile accident last July.  His wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Losey Lashomb, died Feb. 9, 1962.  Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Agnes) Rouselle, 80 N. Main St., Mrs. Harold (Arleen) Olson, Helena, Mrs. Bruce (Wilma) Charity, Newmarket, N.H., three sons; Edward Lashomb, Plumbrook Rd., George Lashomb, Epping, N.H., and Donald Lashomb, Newmarket, N.H.; 34 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren: two sisters; Mrs. Myron (Myrtle) Fizette, Massena; Mrs. Corinne Stone, Rochester; three brothers, George Lashomb, Massena; Leland Lashomb, Massena; Robert Lashomb, Chase Mills, and several nieces and nephews.  He was born in North Stockholm May 4, 1900, a son of Michael and Phoebe Deshane Lashomb.  He attended Norwood schools and married Miss Elizabeth Losey Apr. 23, 1918 in Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. T. P. Holland, pastor, officiating.  They lived in Chase Mills after their marriage.  He was a dairy farmer most of his life but had worked at Alcoa and Hawes Lumber Company.

 

Leland Lashomb:  Massena Observer (NY), Tuesday 29 October 1974: Funeral services for Leland T. LaShomb, 70, of 51 Douglas Rd., will be held Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock in Sacred Heart Church with burial in Calvary Cemetery.  The body is at the Reagan Funeral Chapel.  Mr. LaShomb died at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon, Oct. 25, 1974, in Massena Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient several days.  Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Phoebe Derouchie LaShomb, five sons, Floyd and Thomas LaShomb, both of Norfolk; Wallace LaShomb, Fort Covington; Alvin LaShomb, in Florida, and Leland LaShomb, Kirkville, NY, 22 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Myron Fazette, Massena; and Mrs. Robert (Corrine) Miller, Rochester; one brother, Robert LaShomb, Ogdensburg.  Mr. LaShomb was born May 1, 1904 in Norwood, a son of Michael and Phoebe Deshane LaShomb.  He attended schools in Norwood and Louisville.  He was employed at Massena Operations, Alcoa, as a strander operator, and became a member of the Alcoa 25 Year Club in 1967.  He and Miss Phoebe Derouchie were married Sept. 8, 1924, in St. Agnes, Que.  They were honored by their children on their golden wedding anniversary in September with a buffet luncheon at the VFW Hall, with 100 friends and relatives attending.

George Louis Lashomb:  Massena, NY Observer, Thursday 1 June 1972:  George L. LaShomb, 64, of 55 Brighton St., Massena, died Thursday, May 25,1972.  He was hospitalized one week.  Funeral services were held on Saturday morning at 10:00 o'clock in Sacred Heart Church with burial in Calvary Cemetery.  Mr. LaShomb was born in Norwood, Dec. 26, 1907, son of Michael and Phoebe Deshane LaShomb.  He married Eleanor Barry on May 2, 1928.  He is survived by his wife; six daughters, Mrs. Frederick (Geraldine) Cousin, Swayerville, Pa.; Mrs. Leo (Helen) Burditt, Massena; Mrs. Marcel (Hilda) LaCourse, Endicott; Mrs. Paul (Mary) Jesmer, Rantoul, Ill.; Mrs. Leon (Jane) Jerry Jr., Rotterdam; and Miss Myrtle LaShomb, Syracuse; one son, Sgt. Patrick LaShomb; Hawaii; also 22 grandchildren, one great grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Myron (Myrtle) Fezette, Massena; and Mrs. Robert (Corrine) Miller, Rochester; two brothers, Robert, Ogdensburg; and Leland, Massena.  Mr. LaShomb was employed at the Highland Nursing Home.   [photo included]

 

Robert Joseph Lashomb:  Massena NY Observer, Thursday 9 December 1976: Funeral services for Robert LaShomb, 65, Tiernan Ridge Rd., Town, of Norfolk, who died at the home of a sister, Mrs. Robert Miller, Rochester, at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1976 will be held in St. Raymond's Church, Raymondville, at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, 1976.  The Rev. Everett Denesha will officiate.  Burial will follow in Visitation Cemetery, Norfolk.  Calling hours will start at the Phillips Memorial Home, 64 Andrews St., at 7p.m. Friday night and will continue until the time of the funeral.  Mr. LaShomb was convalescing at the home of his sister.  He had been receiving radium treatments for cancer at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, and had been released from the hospital on Wednesday, Dec. 1.  Robert LaShomb was born in the Town of Lawrence, Sept. 6, 1911, a son of Michael and Phoebe LaShomb.  He attended schools in Louisville and Massena and was employed at Alcoa for 10 years.  He retired with a disability.  He married Marie Derouchie in Sacred Heart Church in November, 1938.  The couple has resided on the Tiernan Ridge Road for the past 30 years.  Surviving, besides his wife, are four sons, Kenneth R. LaShomb, Winthrop Rd.; Dale, a member of the United States Air Force, now serving on Okinawa; Leo, Blue Earth, Minn.; Peter, Norfolk; two daughters, Mrs. George (Barbara) Markewich, Skaneateles; Mrs. Richard (Ann) Orton, Tiernan Ridge Rd.

Corinne Lashomb:  Massena Observer (NY), Tuesday, 22 March 1983: Rochester, N.Y. - Funeral services for Mrs. Corinne Miller, 65, Rochester, and formerly of Massena, were held March 9, 1983, at the McLaughlin Funeral Home, Rochester.  Burial was in Holy Selpulchre Cemetery.  Mrs. Miller died March 6, 1983, at Genesee Hospital, Rochester.  She had been in ill health for two months.  She is survived by: her husband, Robert; three sons, David, Texas, William, Sandy Creek and Gordon, Rochester; two daughters, Carol Molnar and Marlene Cobb; a sister, Myrtle Fizette, Massena; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  Mrs. Miller was born in Louisville on Aug. 30, 1917, daughter of Michael and Phoebe Deshane-LaShomb.  She attended Louisville and Massena schools.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
