Obituary:  Massena Observer (NY), Tuesday, 16 May 1961:  Michael J. Lashomb, 66, of 54 Rockaway St., died at his home at 3:30 Friday afternoon, May 12, 1961.  He had been ill since 1956 and seriously ill the past week.  The body remained at the Phillips Memorial Home until 10 Monday morning when services were held in Sacred Heart Church.  Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.  Mr. Lashomb was born Jan. 29, 1895 in Massena, the son of Michael and Phoebe Deshaies Lashomb.  He was educated in Norwood schools.  On Apr. 27, 1921 he and Josephine Deruchie were married in Massena.  For many years he was employed by the Hawes Lumber Company until 1956 when ill health forced his retirement.  He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a member of the Holy Name Society.  Surviving are his wife; one son, Paul D., Massena; three grandchildren; a foster daughter, Mrs. Fred (Irene) Gilbo, Massena; four brothers George and Leland Lashomb, both of Massena and Robert and Verne Lashomb, both of Chase Mills, and two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Mahoney of Massena and Mrs. Corrine Watson of Watertown.

Obituary:  Courier & Freeman (NY), Potsdam, 11 February 1920:  Mrs. Michael Lashomb, aged 25 years, died at her home in Massena Feby. 4, after a few days illness of pneumonia.  Mrs. Lashomb was before her marriage Miss Carrie Steinburg who lived with Mrs. Grace V. Chandler for several years.  She is survived by her young husband and a little son Paul aged 19 months, also by her mother and several sisters and brothers.  Mrs. Lashomb possessed a kind heart and hand, ever ready to help the sick and the needy.  She was especially interested in animal life and many of them have been saved through her efforts and because of her love for them.  None knew her but to love her and it may well be said another good woman has gone.

Obituary:  Massena Observer (NY), Thursday, 6 August 1964:  Mrs. Josephine Derouchie LaShomb, 68, 28 Rockaway St., widow of Michael J. LaShomb, died early Wednesday morning, Aug. 5, 1964, in Massena Memorial Hospital.  She had not been in good health for some time, but entered the hospital only the day before she died.  She was born in Fort Covington, Jan. 16, 1896, a daughter of William Alexander and Salina Cartier Derouchie.  She was married to Mr. LaShomb Apr. 27, 1921, and for many years he worked for Hawes Lumber Corporation.  He died May 12, 1961.  Surviving are one step-son, Paul D. LaShomb; three grandchildren; a foster daughter, Mrs. Fred (Irene) Gilbo, Chase Mills; two brothers, Albert Derouchie, Winthrop Road and Fred Derouchie, Syracuse, 2 uncles, Edward Derouchie, Montreal and Wallace Derouchie, Massena.  The body is at the Phillips Memorial Home.  Funeral services will be held at 10 Friday morning in Sacred Heart Church with burial in Louisville.

 

Obituary for the son:

Paul David Lashomb:  Massena Observer (NY, Tuesday, 9 February 1965:  Paul David LaShomb, 46, died Friday, Feb. 5, 1965.  He was born Mar. 11, 1918 in Louisville, a son of Michael and Carrie Steinbarge LaShomb.  He attended Massena schools and had worked at Alcoa and for the town of Louisville.  He married Miss Isabelle Huto, Massena, May 22, 1939.  Surviving are his wife, three children, Richard P. LaShomb, 13 1/2 Main St., Joan K. LaShomb, 498 S. Main St., Diane Lee LaShomb, Albany; two grandchildren, Richard Michael and Lisa Daphe LaShomb, Massena.  Funeral services were held this morning at 10 o'clock at Sacred Heart Church. The body was placed in Calvary Vault to await Spring burial in Louisville.
