Obituary:  Massena Observer (NY), Thursday, 1 February 1968:  Vernon E. Lashomb, 67, of 80 N. Main St., died in the Massena Nursing Home at 6.15 a.m. this morning, (Feb. 1, 1968), after being in failing health several years.  Body is at Donaldson Funeral Home with calling hours from 2-4 and 7-9.  Funeral services will be held Saturday morning in Sacred Heart Church and burial will be made in the Spring in St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery, Louisville.  His son, James Lashomb, Norfolk, was killed in an automobile accident last July.  His wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Losey Lashomb, died Feb. 9, 1962.  Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Agnes) Rouselle, 80 N. Main St., Mrs. Harold (Arleen) Olson, Helena, Mrs. Bruce (Wilma) Charity, Newmarket, N.H., three sons; Edward Lashomb, Plumbrook Rd., George Lashomb, Epping, N.H., and Donald Lashomb, Newmarket, N.H.; 34 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren: two sisters; Mrs. Myron (Myrtle) Fizette, Massena; Mrs. Corinne Stone, Rochester; three brothers, George Lashomb, Massena; Leland Lashomb, Massena; Robert Lashomb, Chase Mills, and several nieces and nephews.  He was born in North Stockholm May 4, 1900, a son of Michael and Phoebe Deshane Lashomb.  He attended Norwood schools and married Miss Elizabeth Losey Apr. 23, 1918 in Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. T. P. Holland, pastor, officiating.  They lived in Chase Mills after their marriage.  He was a dairy farmer most of his life but had worked at Alcoa and Hawes Lumber Company.

Obituary:  Watertown Daily Times (Watertown, NY), Saturday, 10 February 1962:  Wife of Vernon Lashomb Dead.  Massena, Feb. 10 - Mrs. Elizabeth L. La Shomb, 60, wife of Vernon E. Lashomb, died suddenly last night at the family home at Chase Mills.  Mrs. La Shomb had had dinner with her family and had dressed to go to the office of the family doctor when she was suddenly stricken with a heart attack.  She had been under treatment for a heart ailment two years.  The body will be taken from the Phillips Memorial home to the family home, where friends may call later today.  Mrs. La Shomb is survived by her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Agnes) Rouselle, Massena; Mrs. Harold (Arlene) Olsen, Helena; Mrs. Bruce (Wilma) Charity, Newmarket, N.H.; four sons, Edward V. - Syracuse NY Post Standard (NY), Sunday, 11 February 1962:  Massena - Mrs. Elizabeth Losey Lashomb, 60, wife of Vernon Lashomb of Chase Mills, died Friday night at her home.  The body has been taken to the family home.

- Watertown Daily Times (Watertown, NY), Monday, 12 February 1962:  Woman's Rites Held. Massena, Feb. 12 - Funeral was held this morning at 10 at St. Raymond's church, Raymondville, for Mrs. Elizabeth LaShomb, wife of Vernon LaShomb, who died at the family home in Chase Mills Friday night after suffering a heart attack.  The body was placed in the vault of Calvary cemetery to await burial in the spring.

Agnes P. Lashomb:  Watertown Daily Times (Watertown, NY), Monday, 5 May 2008:  Brasher Falls - Agnes P. Rouselle, 88, of 32 Church St., died Sunday morning at Adirondack Medical Center, Saranac Lake, where she had been a patient since Thursday.  Mrs. Rouselle was a nurse's aide for 10 years at Highland Nursing Home, Massena, retiring in 1979.  Born May 11, 1919, in Louisville, daughter of Vernon and Elizabeth Locey LaShomb, she attended Louisville schools.  She married Kenneth D. Rouselle on April 13, 1940, at the Church of the Sacred Heart, Massena.  He died Feb. 21, 1970.  She enjoyed fishing, bingo and ceramics.  Surviving are two sons and their wives, Vernon and Madeleine, Massena, and William and Bonnie, Childwold; a daughter, Marie LaPage, Northwood, N.H.; a sister and her husband, Wilma and Bruce Charity, Newmarket, N.H.; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.  An infant son, Elwood, died in July 1940.  A sister, Arlene Olson, also died before her.  The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. Donald J. Manfred officiating.  Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery, Louisville.  Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena.  Donations may be made to St. Patrick's Church or Brasher Falls Rescue Squad.

LaShomb, 54, of Route 2, Norfolk, died Thursday at Massena Memorial Hospital where he had been admitted the night before.  Donaldson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  Services are tentatively set for Monday in the Church of the Visitation in Norfolk, the Rev. George Lemieux, pastor, officiating.  Burial will be in the Church of Visitation Cemetery, Norfolk.

James Michael Lashomb:  The Post Standard (Syracuse, NY), Friday, 28 July 1967:  Massena - Services for James La Shomb, 43, killed early Thursday in a one-car accident on Route 56A, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Catholic Church of the Visitation, Norfolk.  Burial will be in Visitation Cemetery, Norfolk.  Lashomb, father of five sons and a 22-year-service man at Alcoa, Massena opeartions, was found at 3:45 a.m. Thursday in his automobile which had left Route 56A and jumped 39 feet across a culvert-type ditch.  He was pronounced dead on arrival at Massena memorial Hospital by Dr. Maurice Elder, coroner's physician.  Dr. Samuel Livingston, Madrid, issued a verdict of accidental death due to a crushed chest.  No inquest is planned.  Troopers D.D. Reardon and B.C. Arter and BCI Officer Garth Griffin of the Massena substation investigated.  The body will remain at the Phillips Memorial Home until the services.  Mr. La Shomb was born in Massena.  He attended Louisville and Massena schools and served in World War II in the Army Air Corps.  Surviving are his father, Vernon LaShomb; his wife; five sons, Norman in the Air Force at Lackland Air Force Base; Wayne, Roger, Bryan and Jack LaShomb, all at home; three brothers, Edward of Route 2, Norfolk; George of Epping, N.H., and Donald LaShomb of Exeter, N.H., and three sisters, Mrs. Bruce Charity of New Market, N.H., Mrs. Agnes Rouselle of Massena and Mrs. Harold Olson of Helena.

- Massena Observer (NY), Tuesday 1 August 1967:  Funeral services for James Michael LaShomb, 43, Plumbrook Rd., were held at 11 o'clock Saturday morning at the Church of the Visitation in Norfolk, with burial in the parish cemetery.  Mr. LaShomb was killed in a one-car accident early Thursday morning, July 27,1967, on Route 56-A.  That evening he had driven to Chase Mills to visit his aunt, Mrs. Eva Martin, and then on to Madrid.  He was returning home from Madrid on Route 56-A, near Norfolk, and at the intersection with the Stark County Rd. his vehicle went to the left of the highway for 68 feet along the grassy shoulder, into a sideways skid for 181 feet, missed a large tree, then went through a fence, hurtled into a ditch and struck the opposite bank.  The impact drove the front wheels back more than two feet and the steering column within a few inches of the back of the front seat.  Exact time of the accident is not known.  The wrecked car was not discovered until 3:45 a.m. Thursday.  A driver for the St. Lawrence Haulers saw the wreck and he awakened the Paul Tiernan family.  Members of the Norfolk Rescue Squad took nearly a half hour to pry open the door on the driver's side and release the man.  He was rushed to Massena Memorial Hospital and was declared dead.  State Policemen D. D. Reardon and R. C. Carter, BCI Officer Garth Griffin of the Massena sub-station investigated the accident.  Dr. Maurice Elder was coroner's physician, Dr. Samuel Livingston, Madrid, coroner, issued a verdict of accidental death due to a crushed chest.  The accident happened on the Paul Tiernan farm.  Mrs. Tiernan said she was awakened at about 1 o'clock by a noise.  She awakened her husband.  The dog barked.  They looked around the property but could see nothing amiss.  The lights of the car were out and the vehicle was hidden behind a large barn.  Mr. LaShomb was born in Massena, July 22, 1924, a son of Vernon LaShomb, N. Main St., and the late Mrs. Elizabeth Losey LaShomb.  He attended Massena and Louisville area schools and served in the U.S. Air Force during World War 2, from 1943-1944.  He was a 22-year man at Alcoa.  He and Miss Loretta Bush, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Corey Bush, Norfolk, were married Oct. 4, 1947.  They were married in a double wedding service with his sister, Miss Irene LaShomb and Harold Olson, each couple attending the other couple.  Since then they have resided in the township of Norfolk.  He reached his 43rd birthday last Saturday, and Mrs. LaShomb baked a cake.  Their oldest son, Norman, 19, had the same birthday, and the one cake always served, for both birthdays.  Just a few days before the son had left for training at Lackland AFB, Tex.  Surviving are the wife; five children, Norman LaShomb, who was able to return from Lackland for his father's funeral; Wayne 18, Roger 14, Bryan 10, and Jack 3; three brothers, Edward LaShomb, Norfolk, who with his wife had left just a few days ago to visit her family in England, George LaShomb, Epping, N.H., and Donald LaShomb Exeter, N.H.; three sisters, Mrs. Bruce (Wilma) Charity, Newmarket, N. H., Mrs. Kenneth (Agnes) Rouselle, N. Main St., Mrs. Harold (Arleen) Olson, Helena.  Mr. LaShomb was a communicant of the Church of the Visitation in Norfolk and the Holy Name Society.  He was a member of the Norfolk Rod and Gun Club.

Misc.:  Bellingham Herald (WA), Saturday, 19 March 1932 - Winthrop, N.Y. - (U.P.) - James Lashomb, 8, saved himself from drowning in an ice-covered stream near here when he clung to the ice after falling through while skating.  His only concern was that he lost his skates.

Arlene Lashomb:  Watertown Daily Times (Watertown, NY), Friday, 10 June 1994:  Helena - Arlene Joyce LaShomb Olson, 63, Dover, N.H., formerly of Helena, died Monday at her home, after a long illness.  The funeral was Wednesday in New Market, N.H.  Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, New Market.  Arrangements were with the Kent and Pelczar Funeral Home, New Market.  Surviving are her husband, Harold; four sons, Daniel Harold, Dennis James, Randy Vernon and Ricky Joseph, all of New Hampshire; four daughters, Dixie Jean Olson, Dianne Lyn Olson and Ruby Ann Olson, all of New Hampshire, and Donna Marie Olson, Massena; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Wilma LaShomb, New Hampshire, and Agnes Rouselle, Brasher Falls, and several nephews and nieces.  Four brothers, James, Edward, Donald and George LaShomb, died before her.  Born in Chase Mills on July 9, 1930, a daughter of Vernon and Elizabeth Locy LaShomb, she married Harold Vernon Olson on Oct. 4, 1947, at St. Patrick's Church, Louisville.

Wilma Lashomb:  Foster's Daily Democrat (Dover, NH), Friday, 21 June 2019:  Newmarket - Wilma P. Charity, 83, of Lincoln Avenue, died peacefully on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.  Born June 26, 1935 in Louisville, N.Y., she was the daughter of Vernon E. and Elizabeth (Losey) LaShomb.  Wilma was a member of St. Mary Church in Newmarket and a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary.  She enjoyed spending time with family and watching the family sporting events, she also enjoyed Bingo, going to yard sales, and eating out with Bruce.  Wilma was predeceased by her son, David B. Charity and grandson, Derek Johnson.  Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Bruce Charity of Newmarket; her son, Thomas Charity and his wife Pamela of Newmarket; her three daughters, Robin Jabre and her husband John of Wells, Maine, Tammy Lang and her husband Alaric of Winter Haven, Fla., and Gail Johnson and her husband Rick of Rochester; five grandchildren, Michael, Stacey, Rachel, Kim, and Amanda; several great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Services: Visiting hours will be held on Monday, June 24, from 4-6 p.m. at Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, Newmarket, N.H.  A prayer service will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

 

Donald R. Lashomb:  Union Leader (Manchester, NH), Monday, 4 October 1971:  Newmarket - Donald R. LaShomb, 34, of 180 Main St., died yesterday at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, Dover, after a long illness.  A native of Lewisville, N.Y., he lived in Massena, N.Y., before coming here 10 years ago.  He was formerly employed by Davison Rubber Company, Dover, and was a member of St. Mary Parish.  The family includes his wife, Mrs. Frances N. LaShomb; three sons, John M. LaShomb, Jeffrey W. LaShomb and Jody R. LaShomb, all of Newmarket; two brothers, Edward LaShomb of Norfolk, N.Y., and George LaShomb of Epping; three sisters, Mrs. Agnes Rouselle of Massena, Mrs. Harold Olson of Helena, N.Y., and Mrs. Bruce Charity of Newmarket; nieces and nephews.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday morning at St. Mary Church.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Brisson and Kent Funeral Home this evening and Tuesday afternoon and evening.
