Obituary:  The Town Talk (Alexandria, LA), Friday, 31 December 1937:  Funeral services for Magnus Pitre, 60, of Ville Platte, La., who died on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1937 were held Thursday afternoon Dec. 30, the procession leaving the residence at 1:30, going to the Ville Platte Catholic Church where the Rev. Father Bourgeois officiated at 2.  Pall-bearers were:  Maurice, Johnnie and Yeager Soileau, Jack Tate, Leroy Deville and Martin Bordelon.  Interment was made in the Ville Platte Catholic cemetery under the direction of Morgan Brothers, Ville Platte Funeral directors.

- Weekly Town Talk (Alexandria, LA), Saturday, 1 January 1938:  Pitre - At 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1937, Magnus Pitre, aged 60 years, of Ville Platte, La.  Deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs. Emelie Soileau Pitre; and seven children, Mrs. Cecilia Johnson, Elizabeth, Marshall, L. Morn - Mrs. Marie Emelie Pitre, 67, buring in 'Old Cemetery' - Funeral services were held Tuesday morning for Mrs. Marie Emelie Soileau Pitre, 67, who died at her residence early Monday morning.  Interment was in the 'Old Cemetery.'  Mrs. Pitre was the widow of the late Magnes Pitre,  She is survived by four sons, Marshall, Edward and LeRoy Pitre of Ville Platte, and Jean Pierre Pitre of New Orleans; two daughters, Mrs. Sidney Johnson and Mrs. Edward Ortego, Ville Platte, and two brothers and a sister, Johnnie and Marius Soileau and Mrs. Eugene Vidrine, all of Ville Platte.

- Beaumont Journal (TX), Tuesday, 6 January 1948:  Opelousas, La., Jan. 6 - The pastor held services Tuesday morning at Sacred Heart Catholic church in Ville Platte, with burial at the Ville Platte cemetery, for Mrs. Marie Emily Soileau Pitre, 67, who died at her home Monday.

Eliza Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Friday, 15 March 1957:  Ville Platte - Mrs. Sydney Johnson, 58, the former Eliza Pitre of Ville Platte, died Thursday noon at a local hospital.  Services were held today at 10:15 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic church.  Interment was in the old cemetery under direction of Ardoin Funeral Home.  Mrs. Johnson is survived by a son, Melvin, of Ville Platte; one sister and three brothers, Mrs. Ed Ortego, J. P., Marshall, and Edward Pitre, all of Ville Platte; and three grandchildren.

 

Marshall Adam Pitre:  The Ville Platte Gazette (Ville Platte, LA), Thursday, 1 July 1971:  Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church for Marshall Pitre, aged 63, who died at the Ville Platte Medical Center at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.  Burial was in the Old Ville Platte Cemetery with Ardoin's Funeral Home in charge.  Survivors include two sons, James V. Calvin Pitre of New Orleans and Norwood Pitre of Shreveport; five daughters, Mrs. Raymond Babb of Maringouin, Mrs. Don Roch of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Stanley Kostick of New Jersey, Mrs. Douglas Haas of New Orleans, and Mrs. Joy Chaney of Ville Platte; one brother, Edward Pitre and one sister, Mrs. Ed Ortego, both of Ville Platte; sixteen grandchildren.

Edward Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Sunday, 10 January 1988:  Ville Platte - Funeral services for Mr. Edward Pitre, 69, were held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church here with burial in old Ville Platte Cemetery.  Mr. Pitre, a resident of Ville Platte, died at 1:15 a.m. Friday in Veterans Administration Hospital in Alexandria.  He was a retired taxi driver.  Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lucille Deballion Pitre of Ville Platte; three stepsons, J. L. Guillory, Terryl Guillory, both of Ville Platte, and Bruce Fontenot of Jeanerett; three grandchildren.  Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte was in charge of all arrangements

Leroy Pitre:  Times Picayune (New Orleans, LA), Wednesday, 29 September 1954 - Leroy Pitre, 32, 3214 Tulane, auto salesman for Russo's Motor Sales, died at 7:32 p.m. Tuesday at Charity Hospital.  Funeral arrangements in charge of Lamana-Panno-Fallo, Inc., funeral home, 625 N. Rampart, were incomplete late Tuesday night.  Mr. Pitre is survived by his widow; three brothers, Gene Pitre of New Orleans and Marshall and Edward Pitre, both of Ville Platte, and two sisters, Mrs. Sidney Johnson and Mrs. Edward Ortego, both of Ville Platte.

Times Picayune, Thursday, 30 September 1954: P itre Last Rites to be in Florida - Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Bonifay, Fla., for Leroy Pitre, 32, 3214 Tulane, who died Tuesday night in Charity hospital.  Burial will be in the Florida city.  Lamana-Panno-Fallo, Inc., funeral home, 625 N. Rampart, was in charge of shipping the body to Florida.  Mr. Pitre was an auto salesman for Russo's Motor Sales.
