Obituary:  The Ville Platte Gazette (Ville Platte, LA), Thursday, 1 July 1971:  Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church for Marshall Pitre, aged 63, who died at the Ville Platte Medical Center at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.  Burial was in the Old Ville Platte Cemetery with Ardoin's Funeral Home in charge.  Survivors include two sons, James V. Calvin Pitre of New Orleans and Norwood Pitre of Shreveport; five daughters, Mrs. Raymond Babb of Maringouin, Mrs. Don Roch of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Stanley Kostick of New Jersey, Mrs. Douglas Haas of New Orleans, and Mrs. Joy Chaney of Ville Platte; one brother, Edward Pitre and one sister, Mrs. Ed Ortego, both of Ville Platte; sixteen grandchildren.

Obituary:  The Ville Platte Gazette (Ville Platte, LA), Thursday, 11 October 1990:  Funeral services were held at Sacred Heart Church at 10 a.m. Tuesday, for Mrs. Marcellous Fontenot, the former Bridget Brignac, 81, with burial following in the church Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte.  Mrs. Fontenot, a resident of Ville Platte, died at 5 a.m. Sunday, at Humana Hospital of Ville Platte, after a long illness.  Survivors include two sons, James Pitre of New Orleans and Norwood Pitre of Houma; four daughters, Mrs. Richard (Lessie) Tipton of Houston, Texas, Mrs. Stanley (Delores) Kostick of Lanoka Harbor, New Jersey, Mrs. Farrell (Joy) Fontenot of Scott and Mrs. Douglas (Donna) Haas of Metairie; 17 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

James Calvin Pitre:  Times Picayune (New Orleans, LA), Thursday, 26 October 2005:  James Calvin Pitre, age 78, on Tuesday, October 4.  Husband of Gennie LeBlanc.  Father of Cindy Weaver, Cathy Horton & her husband Joseph.  Son of the late Marshall Pitre and Bridget Brignac.  Brother of Norwood Pitre, Lessie "lee" Tipton, Delores A. Kostick, and Donna R. Haas.  Grandfather of Matthew Weaver and Caitlyn & Ashlyn Horton.  He was a native of Ville Platte, LA and a resident of Kenner, LA for the past 31 years.  The relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass from Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home Chapel, 4747 Veterans Blvd., near Clearview, on Thursday, October 6, 2005 at 2:00 PM.  Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until time of service.

 

Geneva Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Sunday, 20 February 1983:  Ville Platte - Funeral services for Mrs. Raymond Babb, 52, will be held at 3 p.m. today in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church here with burial in the church cemetery.  Mrs. Babb, the former Geneva Pitre, died Friday at 8:25 p.m. in the Ville Platte General Hospital following a short illness.  Survivors include her husband, Raymond Babb of Lecompte; mother, Mrs. Bridget Brignac of Ville Platte; three daughters, Mrs. Lester McLin Jr. and Mrs. Gray Waller, both of Livingston and Mrs. Gray Norflect of Lecompte; two brothers, James Pitre of New Orleans and Norwood Pitre of Arcadia; four sisters, Mrs. Donald Rock and Mrs. Douglas Haas, both of New Orleans, Mrs. Ferryl Fontenot of Scott and Mrs. Stan Kostick of Toms River, N.J.; six grandchildren.  Ardoin Funeral Home of Ville Platte is in charge of arrangements.

 

Lessie Lee Pitre:  Times Picayune (New Orleans, LA), Tuesday, 11 March 2014:  (photo) Lessie Lee Rock Litzsinger, the beloved wife of the late Donald Joseph Rock, the late Richard Tipton and the late Leonard Litzsinger, passed away after a courageous battle with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) and the challenges of that disease.  Lessie is survived by daughters: Patricia Rock Spann (Baxter), Susan Rock Horst (Roger), Sally Rock Wallace (Kenny), Liz Rock Lund (Danny); stepchildren: Sherri Saunders (Steve), Michael Litzsinger and Karen Mays (Tim).  She was known as 'Gramy' to her 18 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.  Lessie is also survived by her sister, Donna Haas (Doug), her brother, Norwood Pitre and her sister-in-law, Gennie Pitre.  She was preceded in death by her brother, James C. Pitre and sisters: Genevieve Babb, Dolores Kostick and Emma Joy Fontenot.  Lessie was a loving woman from Ville Platte, Louisiana, the daughter of Marshall Pitre and Bridget Brignac Pitre Fontenot.  She attended Ville Platte High and was in the graduating class of 1952.  She enjoyed playing on the basketball team, singing in the choir and marching in front of the band.  She spent her life caring for her loved ones and sharing her love of cooking with all.  She loved eating red beans and rice on Mondays with Donna and Gennie, spending time with her children and grandchildren, wearing the color pink, watching the New Orleans Saints, drinking red wine, and praying the Rosary.  Lessie's daughters would like to thank the loving and supportive staff of the Tom and Gail Benson Cancer Center and the Neuro ICU Critical Care Nurses at Ochsner Hospital.  Lessie will be greatly missed while her loved ones continue the tradition of time with family well spent, enjoying her love of cooking and sharing her recipes for generations to come.  Friends and family are invited to a Memorial Mass on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. at St. Philip Neri Church, 6500 Kawanee Avenue, Metairie, LA 70003.  Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made.
