Marie Josephine Pitre:  The Ville Platte Gazette (Ville Platte, LA), Saturday, 3 November 1928:  Mrs. Henry M. Daire buried Thursday - The funeral of Mrs. Henry M. Daire, who died Wednesday afternoon, after several years of illness, was held from the residence on West Main street Thursday afternoon, Rev. L. J. Savy, of the Catholic church, officiated at the ceremony and interment took place in the Catholic cemetery.  Mrs. Henry M. Daire, nee Marie Josephine Pitre, was a daughter of Francis J. Pitre.  She had been sick for a number of years, and suffered much during the last years of her illness.  She was fifty two years old.  Mrs. Daire was a very devout Catholic.  The deceased leaves to mourn her husband, two sons, Lee and Magnus Daire, and one daughter, Mrs. Christe Thompson, five brothers, one sister and a number of other relatives.

 

Magnus Hilaire Pitre:  The Town Talk (Alexandria, LA), Friday, 31 December 1937:  Funeral services for Magnus Pitre, 60, of Ville Platte, La., who died on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1937 were held Thursday afternoon Dec. 30, the procession leaving the residence at 1:30, going to the Ville Platte Catholic Church where the Rev. Father Bourgeois officiated at 2.  Pall-bearers were:  Maurice, Johnnie and Yeager Soileau, Jack Tate, Leroy Deville and Martin Bordelon.  Interment was made in the Ville Platte Catholic cemetery under the direction of Morgan Brothers, Ville Platte Funeral directors.

- Weekly Town Talk (Alexandria, LA), Saturday, 1 January 1938:  Pitre - At 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1937, Magnus Pitre, aged 60 years, of Ville Platte, La.  Deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs. Emelie Soileau Pitre; and seven children, Mrs. Cecilia Johnson, Elizabeth, Marshall, L. P., Maible, Edward and LeRoy Pitre.  Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, Dec. 30, the procession leaving the residence at 1:30 going to the Ville Platte Catholic Church where the Rev. Father Bourgeois officiated at 2.  Interment followed in the Ville Platte Catholic cemetery under the direction of Morgan Brothers, Ville Platte Funeral directors.

 

Irma Pitre:  The Ville Platte Gazette (Ville Platte, LA), Thursday, 18 March 1948:  Mrs. Frank Duhon Buried Thursday - Funeral services were conducted Thursday in the old cemetery for Mrs. Frank Duhon, who died at her residence in Lake Charles Wednesday.  Mrs. Duhon, the former Irma Pitre, lived for many years here before her removal to Lake Charles.  Besides her husband, she is survived by three brothers, Moise and Francois Pitre of Ville Platte, and Julius Pitre, U.S. Army.

 

Jean Baptist Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Wednesday, 2 July 1941:  Well Known St. Landry Farmer Buried Today - Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2:30 for Jean Baptist Pitre, 60, who died Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. at his home in Washington.  The funeral cortege left the Plaisance home of his daughter, Mrs. Herbert Fontenot, for Ville Platte where burial rites were held in the Catholic Church.  Interment was in the Ville Platte cemetery with Lafond & Son in charge.  The deceased, a well known farmer of the Plaisance section, is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Herbert Fontenot, of Plaisance, two sons, Louis Pitre of Ville Platte and William Pitre of Port Arthur, Tex.; one sister, Mrs. Frank Durion of Lake Charles, and three brothers, Joseph and Moise Pitre of near Ville Platte and Jules Pitre of Washington, D.C.

Joseph Pitre:  The Ville Platte Gazette (Ville Platte, LA), Thursday, 12 March 1959:  Last rites were read at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. for Joseph Pitre, 69-year-old retired farmer, who died at an Alexandria hospital Monday following a long illness.  He is survived by three sons, Dallas, Murray and Leo of Ville Platte, nine daughters, Mrs. Percy Credeur and Mrs. Arvin Smith of Opelousas, Mrs. Jack D. Pardue of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Mrs. Thomas Arnold, Mrs. James C. Andrews and Joycelyn Pitre of Lafayette, Mrs. Norman Nelson of New Orleans, Marietta Pitre of Mandeville and Mrs. William Sasoncia of New York, and twelve grandchildren.  Interment was in the Sacred Heart cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home.

Moise Pitre:  The Ville Platte Gazette (Ville Platte, LA), Thursday, 20 October 1949:  Moise Pitre Dies Yesterday, Final Rites are Today - Lingering illness proves fatal to 59-year-old Ville Platte man - Funeral services were held this afternoon for Moise Pitre, 59, who died Wednesday afternoon at 12:15 in a Lafayette hospital.  Services were read at the Sacred Heart Catholic church with interment in the old Ville Platte cemetery at 2:30.  Mr. Pitre had been critically ill since May and had been treated in New Orleans subsequent to his removal here to his home and then to the Lafayette hospital where he died.  Death was attributed to cancer of the kidney.  He is survived by his widow, the former Lula Lafleur; three daughters, Mrs. Shelby Fontenot, Mrs. Leo Fontenot, and Miss Patsy Nell; five sons, Auston, Herschel, Frank, George, and Leran.  He is also survived by several grandchildren and two brothers.
