Obituary: The Saginaw News Courier (Saginaw, MI), Sunday, 5 December 1926: Petre - Francis Petre, 71, died yesterday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Edward Rowe, 21793 Macauley street, after a long illness. He was born July 8, 1855 in New Baltimore, Mich. In 1878 he was married to Miss Ida Ferteau, who died in 1887. The same year he moved to Reese and in 1888 was married to Miss Louisa Yax. In 1890 they moved to Saginaw, where they lived until 1909, when they moved to Merrill. Mrs. Petre died January 16, 1926, and since then Mr. Petre has lived in Saginaw. He is survived by 11 children, Mrs. L. Reed, Detroit, Mrs. John Young and Mrs. John Beard, Reese, Mrs. Fred Petre, Mrs. Frank Foy, Mrs. Edward Rowe and Eleanor Petre, Saginaw, Mrs. A. Lemmer, Ethel Petre, Flint, Oscar Petre, Lansing, Elmer Petre, Merrill, and Orville Petre, Newport News, Va., 20 grandchildren, and one brother, Tousand Petre, Merrill.

Misc.: Saginaw News (Saginaw, MI), Wednesday, 30 January 1907: Mrs. Frances Pitre, 933 Bundy street has gone to Gilford to attend a reunion of her family Thursday, the occasion being the 72 birthday anniversary of her father, Francis Yax. Both Mr. and Mrs. Yax are in good health and the gathering is expected to bring together the majority of the 14 children, 57 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren which comprise the family.
Obituary: Saginaw News Courier (Saginaw, MI), 19 January 1926: Mrs. Louisa Yax Petre died Saturday evening at her home in Merrill. She was born in Canada August 10, 1869 and came to Reese when one month old. In 1888 she was married to Francis Petre at Reese and for two years they made their home there, later going to Tuscola county and from there to Saginaw. They made their home here until 1909, when they moved to Merrill. Besides her husband, Mrs. Petre leaves eight children, Mrs. A. A. Lemmer and Elmer Petre of Flint, Mrs. Frank Foye and Mrs. Edward Rowe, Saginaw, Oscar Petre, Lansing and Eleanore Petre at home; five brothers, Joseph Yax, Detroit, James and Edward Yax, Reese, Frey and William Yax, Bay City; six sisters, Mrs. Theresa Brady, Reese; Mrs. Emma Duquette, Saginaw; Mrs. Nancy Hamilton, Los Angeles, Cal.; Mrs. Jessie Letson, Essexville, and Mrs. Ida Miller, Bay City, and six grandchildren. Funeral services will take place at 9 o'clock Wednesday morning from Sacred Heart church at Merrill. Rev. Fr. D.J. Wynne of Merrill will officiate and burial will be in Mt. Olivet, Saginaw.

- Saginaw News, Wednesday, 11 December 1907: Mrs. Frank Petre, 933 Bundy street, is ill at her home as the result of taking lysol Tuesday afternoon by mistake. She has been ill with pneumonia for some time and the lysol had been used as an external application. Her husband by mistake handed her the remedy for the internal medicine, but she did not swallow it all, so that she did not suffer the full effects. Antidotes were promptly administered and Dr. C.H. Hudson was summoned. It is thought that she will recover.

Young died at her farm home, five miles southwest of Fairgrove, today after a week's illness. Born in New Baltimore, Mich., Aug. 10, 1880, she leaves: her husband, John; five daughters, Mrs. Ida J. Menther, of Toledo, O., Mrs. Mary Holbrook, of Clare, Mrs. Emmett Taylor, of Gilford, Mrs. Clara Karr, of Fairgrove, and Mrs. Thelma Birdsall, of Essexville; nine grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Charles Johnson, of Vassar, and Mrs. John Baird, of Saginaw; and a brother, Fred Petrie, of Saginaw. Prayer services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home and funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock in the Gilford United Brethren church, with the Rev. Walter Arnold officiating. Burial will be in Brookside cemetery, Fairgrove.

Passed away 11 a.m. Sunday at St. Mary's Hospital after an illness of three and a half years. Age 81 years. Mary Adaline Petre was born May 22, 1885, in Gilford, Mich., and had lived in Saginaw since 1927, coming here from Reese. She was married to John W. Baird March 28, 1906. He predeceased her Feb. 18, 1956. Mrs. Baird was a member of the Jefferson Avenue Methodist Church, and the Blue Star Mothers. Surviving are two daughters and two sons, Alfred J. and James L. Baird, Mrs. Wilmer (Edna) Gueldenzopf, all of Saginaw; Mrs. Thomas (Evelyn) Ryan, with whom she had made her home the past three and a half years; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Glen Taylor, Saginaw; Mrs. Ted Rozinger, Cleveland, Ohio; a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral service will take place 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Reitz Funeral Home. Rev. Orville W. Morrow will officiate with burial in Denmark Cemetery, Reese. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Monday. Those, who so desire, may give memorials to the Jefferson Avenue Methodist Church.
Mary Elizabeth Petre: Saginaw News (Saginaw, MI), Thursday, 9 May 1907: Petre - Miss Mary Petre, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Petre, Bundy street, died Wednesday afternoon at St. Mary's hospital of blood poisoning after a two weeks' illness. She was removed to the hospital about two weeks ago with blood poisoning originating in a cold sore on her lip. She was ill about four days before being brought to the hospital. Miss Petre would have been 17 this month and was an attendant of the public schools in this city. She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Petre, four sisters, Mabel, Helen, Ester and a baby, and four brothers, Orvil, Oscar, Elmer and Francis. She was a member of the Holy Family church, from which the funeral will take place.

She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, its Altar Society, the Third Order of St. Francis, and the League of Catholic Women. Surviving, besides her husband, are one daughter, Mrs. Herbert Richards, two grandsons; she also leaves a nephew, Dennis Farver, in the U. S. Surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Ned Rozenger, Cleveland, Ohio; Mrs. Frank Foy, Mrs. Glenn Taylor and Mrs. Mary Baird, all of Saginaw; several nieces and nephews. He also leaves a brother-in-law, Edward Rowe, Saginaw. Funeral service will take place at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Case Chapel, 9 a.m. at Holy Family Church with Rev. Fr. Thomas Horton officiating. Fr. J.B. Surprenant officiated. There were many beautiful flowers, among them a wreath from the employees of Wilcox Motor Mfg. Co. The pallbearers were Joseph Faucher, Bernard Hickey, Thos. Murray, Sarto O'Toole, Chas. Siler and Wm. Miskl, all boy friends of Merrill. Burial took place in Mt. Olivet.
