- Mathurin Honore Julien Ayo was the second son of Mathurin & Cecille born on the bayou. He was 21 when he married Rosalie Bourg. She was almost 17 and the daughter of Acadian descendants. They had 12 children, most of whom stayed close as they married and produced their own families. The 1850 census shows Mathurin as a 60-year-old farmer with his wife Rosalie 56. Their farmhand son Neuville lives there with his wife Marcelite Prejean, their son and 2 young daughters. Another son Joseph is also there with his wife and daughter; son Hermogene and wife; daughter Pauline and husband Aubin Prejean and their 3-year-old son; plus the youngest boy known as Scudday. Next door is Maximin, his wife and 4 children. Further along the bayou is Ursin and his family. Mathurin was almost 62 when he died 2 years later and widow Rosalie died 20 years after her husband in 1872.
