Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Wednesday, 15 September 1971:  Ville Platte - Funeral services will be held for Wade L. Pitre, 80, retired farmer and blacksmith, who died in the Ville Platte Medical Center in Ville Platte Tuesday at 3:40 p.m. after a long illness.  The services are scheduled for 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte, with burial to be in the Grand Prairie Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte.  Mr. Pitre is survived by three sons, Howard L., Hersey W., and Leo J. Pitre, all of Ville Platte; two daughters, Mrs. Melvin Soileau and Mrs. Roosevelt Joubert of Ville Platte.  He is also survived by four brothers, Laurent Pitre of Opelousas; Emile Pitre, Washington; Frank and Henry Pitre of Grand Prairie; two sisters, Mrs. Eddie Vidrine of Plaisance and Mrs. Herbert Sebastien of Opelousas; 11 grandchildren and 14 great=grandchildren.

Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Tuesday, 15 November 1960:  Ville Platte - Funeral services were held yesterday at 9 a.m. in St. Peter's Catholic Church of Grand Prairie, for Mrs. Wade Pitre, 70, of near Ville Platte, who died at her home Saturday, after an illness of three months.  She is survived by her husband, three sons, Hersey, Howard and Leo Pitre of Ville Platte; two daughters, Mrs. Roosevelt Joubert and Mrs. Melvin Soileau of Ville Platte; one brother, Orise Lafleur of Ville Platte; four sisters, Mrs. Leandre Fontenot, Mrs. Oscar Fusilier, Mrs. Lamar Fontenot, and Mrs. John Vidrine, all of Ville Platte and the surrounding area; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  Ardoin Funeral Home of Ville Platte was in charge of arrangements and burial was in the St. Peter's Church cemetery.

Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Monday, 30 October 1972:  Ville Platte - Funeral services were held at 9 a.m. today in Sacred Heart Catholic Church for Mrs. Wade Pitre, 71, the former Aline Lafleur.  She died at Savoy Memorial Hospital at 1:30 a.m. Sunday.  Burial was in St. Peter's Catholic Church Cemetery in Grand Prairie with Ardoin Funeral Home of Ville Platte in charge of all arrangements.  Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Avie Ledoux of Ville Platte; three step-sons, Howard, Percy and Leo Pitre of Ville Platte; two step daughters, Mrs. Melvin Soileau and Mrs. Roosevelt Joubert of Ville Platte; one sister, Mrs. Clement Thibodeaux of Eunice; three half-brothers, Elridge and Allan Guillory of Ville Platte and Aswell Guillory of Opelousas; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mary Nell Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Tuesday, 6 April 1999:  Ville Platte - Funeral services for Mrs. Roosevelt Joubert, the former Mary Nell Pitre, 86, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church here with burial in Gates of Heaven Cemetery.  The Rev. Randy Moreau will conduct the services.  Mrs. Joubert, a resident of Ville Platte, died at 6:35 p.m. Monday, April 5, 1999, in Ville Platte Medical Center.  She was a homemaker.  Survivors include: a sister, Mrs. Melvin (Pearl) Soileau of Ville Platte; and several nieces and nephews.  Mrs. Joubert was preceded in death by her husband, Roosevelt Joubert; and three brothers, Howard L. Pitre, Leo Pitre and Hersey Pitre.  Visiting hours will be observed from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. today and from 7 a.m. Wednesday until time of services.  A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.  Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte is in charge of arrangements.

 

Howard L. Pitre:  The Town Talk (Alexandria, LA), Wednesday, 11 March 1992:  Ville Platte - Services for Howard L. "Cayou" Pitre will be at 1:30 p.m. today in Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Burial will be in Gates of Heaven Cemetery under direction of Ardoin.  Pitre, 77, of Ville Platte died at 5 a.m. Tuesday in his home.  Survivors include two sons, John Burke Pitre and Charles Pitre, both of Ville Platte; two daughters, Jean Ortego of Ville Platte and Dolores Dunn of Alexandria; two sisters, Pearl Soileau and Nell Joubert, both of Ville Platte; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

 

Leo Joseph Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Monday, 25 June 1990:  Ville Platte - Funeral services for Mr. Leo Joseph Pitre, 73, were to be held at 11 a.m. today in Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church here with burial in St. Peter's Cemetery in Grand Prairie.  Mr. Pitre, a resident of Ville Platte, died at 3:38 a.m. Sunday in Humana Hospital in Ville Platte.  Survivors include his wife, Maudry Fontenot Pitre of Ville Platte; three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Peggy) Baker of Pine Prairie, Mrs. Carol (Carla) Fontenot and Mrs. Todd (Annette) Deville, both of Ville Platte; a brother, Howard "Cayou" Pitre of Ville Platte; two sisters, Mrs. Roosevelt (Nell) Joubert and Mrs. Melvin (Pearl) Soileau, both of Ville Platte; eight grandchildren.  Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte was in charge of arrangements.

Pearl Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Sunday, 16 May 2004:  Ville Platte - Funeral services for Mrs. Melvin Soileau, the former Pearl Pitre, 84, will be held at 3 p.m. Monday in Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church here with burial in the Gates of Heaven Cemetery.  Mrs. Soileau died at 12:10 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 2004, in the Ville Platte Medical Center.  Survivors include: one son, James D. "Jim" Soileau and his wife Katheline of Ville Platte; one daughter, Catherine S. McDaniel and husband Bob of Ville Platte; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by: her husband, Melvin Soileau; one sister, Mrs. Nell Joubert; and three brothers, Howard Pitre, Leo Pitre and Hersey Pitre.  Visitation will be observed Sunday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Monday from 7 a.m. until time of services in the chapel of Ardoin's Funeral home, 709 W. Main St., Ville Platte, which is in charge of arrangements.  A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

 

Hersey Wade Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Tuesday, 31 May 1988:  Ville Platte - Funeral services for Mr. Hersey Wade Pitre, 64, were to be held at 11 a.m. today in Sacred Heart Catholic Church here with burial in old Ville Platte Cemetery.  Mr. Pitre, a resident of Ville Platte, died at 8 a.m. Monday at his residence from a short illness.  He was a school bus driver and a veteran of World War II.  Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Cassie Willis Pitre of Ville Platte; two sons, Darvin Pitre and James Strother, both of Ville Platte; two brothers, Howard L. and Leo Pitre, both of Ville Platte; two sisters, Mrs. Roosevelt (Nell) Joubert and Mrs. Melvin (Pearl) Soileau, both of Ville Platte; and five grandchildren.  Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte was in charge of all arrangements.
