Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Tuesday, 31 May 1988:  Ville Platte - Funeral services for Mr. Hersey Wade Pitre, 64, were to be held at 11 a.m. today in Sacred Heart Catholic Church here with burial in old Ville Platte Cemetery.  Mr. Pitre, a resident of Ville Platte, died at 8 a.m. Monday at his residence from a short illness.  He was a school bus driver and a veteran of World War II.  Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Cassie Willis Pitre of Ville Platte; two sons, Darvin Pitre and James Strother, both of Ville Platte; two brothers, Howard L. and Leo Pitre, both of Ville Platte; two sisters, Mrs. Roosevelt (Nell) Joubert and Mrs. Melvin (Pearl) Soileau, both of Ville Platte; and five grandchildren.  Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte was in charge of all arrangements.

Obituary:  The Town Talk (Alexandria, LA), Saturday, 26 May 2001:  Oakdale - Services for Cassie Willis Pitre will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Ardoin Memorial Chapel with the Rev. James Vanderfriff officiating.  Burial will be in Ville Platte Cemetery.  Pitre, 78, of Oakdale died Thursday, May 24, 2001, in Oakdale Community Hospital.  She was a native of Glenmora and a former resident of Ville Platte.  She was a member of the Gospel Lighthouse Pentecostal Church of Oakdale.  Survivors include two sons, Darvin H. Pitre of Kansas City, Kan., and James Edwin "Soupy" Strother of Ville Platte; three brothers, J. Y. Willis of Hinesville, Ga., J. E. Willis of Sulphur and J. C. Willis of Glenmora; four sisters, Helen Hogan of Tullos, Elvie Woodard of Glenmora, Erthel Mayo of Oakdale and Ervie Carrier of St. Landry; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  Friends may call from 9 a.m.-10 p.m. today in the funeral home and from 8 a.m. until time of services Sunday in the chapel.
