Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Tuesday, 10 July 1962:  Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday for Ludo Pitre, 65, of 222 E. Smiley st.  He died at 7:40 p.m. Sunday at Our Lady of the Lourdes Hospital, Lafayette.  Pitre had been ill since an automobile accident more than a year ago.  He was a native of Prairie Ronde and a resident of Opelousas for approximately three years.  Pitre was a farmer and cattleman.  He was a member of the St. Landry Farm Bureau, the St. Landry Parish Cattlemen's Association, the Louisiana and American Angus Associations and the American Hereford Association.  Pitre's body is at the home of a son, Dallas Pitre, in Prairie Ronde.  Services will be held at the Baptist Church in Prairie Ronde.  Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.  Lafond and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  Pitre is survived by his wife, the former Eva Bertrand of Opelousas; three sons, Delton and Leroy Pitre of Opelousas and Dallas Pitre of Prairie Ronde; and one daughter, Mrs. Theogene Vassier of Opelousas.  Also surviving are a brother, Leon Pitre of Melville; three sisters, Mrs. Theogene Darville and Mrs. Allen Darville both of Melville and Mrs. E. Veillon of Eunice; 14 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.

Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Monday, 11 September 1972:  Funeral services for Mrs. Ledo Pitre, 74, of Opelousas, will be held at 3:15 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church in Prairie Ronde.  Burial will be in the church cemetery under direction of Lafond and Son Funeral Home.  The Rev. Truman Granger and the Rev. Cerial Cormier will officiate at services.  Mrs. Pitre died at 10 a.m. Sunday at Opelousas General Hospital.  The former Eva Bertrand, she was a native of Prairie Ronde.  Survivors are three sons, Delton and Leroy Pitre, both of Prairie Ronde, and Dallas Pitre of Swords; one daughter, Mrs. Theodore Vasseur of Prairie Ronde; two brothers, Eluse Bertrand of Prairie Ronde and Albert Bertrand of Ville Platte; five sisters, Mrs. Curley Pitre and Mrs. Early Deville, both of Prairie Ronde, Mrs. Ambrose Pitre, Mrs. William Sonnier and Mrs. Lawrence Fontenot, all of Opelousas; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Delton Joseph Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Friday, 27 December 1974:  Prairie Ronde - Delton Joseph Pitre, 57, died Thursday at 12:30 a.m. in the St. Landry Clinic after a brief illness.  He was a farmer and a life-long resident of Prairie Ronde.  Survivors include his widow, the former Lou Ella Brown; two step-sons, Glenn Rozas and Nicholas Rozas, both of Opelousas; two daughters, Mrs. James A. Robin and Mrs. Gerald Champagne both of Opelousas, and one step-daughter, Bobbie Guinn of Alexandria; two brothers, Leroy Pitre of Prairie Ronde and Dallas Pitre of Swords; one sister, Mrs. Theodore Vassur of Prairie Ronde and five grandchildren.  Services will be held at 2 p.m. today in the Prairie Ronde Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery directed by Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas.

Harris Pitre:  State Times Advocate (Baton Rouge, LA), Thursday, 6 March 1952:  Opelousas - Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Baptist Church in Prairie Ronde for Harris Pitre, 33, Opelousas business man, who died suddenly of a heart attack Tuesday night.  Rev. Pershing Pitre of Lake Charles, cousin of the deceased, officiated and burial was in the adjacent cemetery with Lafond and Son in charge.  Pitre is survived by his wife, the former Edith LaJack; a daughter, Jennie, both of Opelousas; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ludo Pitre of Prairie Ronde; three brothers and one sister, Delton, Leroy and Dallas Pitre and Mrs. Theodore Vassieur all of Opelousas.

Leroy Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Friday, 7 September 1979:  Prairie Ronde - Funeral services were to be held at 2 p.m. today in the Prairie Ronde Baptist Church here for Leroy Pitre, 59, of Prairie Ronde, who died at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the Opelousas General Hospital.  Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on N. Main St. of Opelousas was in charge of arrangements with burial in the church cemetery.  Survivors include his wife, Geneva Latiolais Pitre of Prairie Ronde; three sons, Gene Autray Pitre of Los Angeles, Calif., Wilfred Pitre of Opelousas; Ledo Waden Pitre of Prairie Ronde; one brother, Dallas Pitre of Swords; one sister, Mrs. Theodore (Lurline) Bassbur of Prairie Ronde and three grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, Delton Pitre and Harris Pitre.

Lurline Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Monday, 17 April 2000:  Prairie Ronde:  (photo)  Funeral services for Mrs. Theodore Vasseur, the former Lurline Pitre, 77, were held at 2 p.m. today in Prairie Ronde Baptist Church here with burial in the church cemetery.  The Rev. Bernard Waas conducted the services.  Mrs. Vasseur, a resident of Prairie Ronde, died at 10:01 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 2000, in Opelousas General Hospital.  Survivors include: three sons, Curtis G. Vasseur Sr. and wife Leola and Ronald Vasseur and wife Gerrie, both of Prairie Ronde, and Robert Vasseur and wife Becky of Moss Bluff; two daughters, Norma Ann Dougherty and husband Allen of Prairie Ronde and Rita Gail Sylvester of Eunice; 18 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.  Mrs. Vasseur was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Vasseur; a son, Lucuis Vasseur; her parents, Ledo Pitre and Eva Bertrand Pitre; and four brothers, Delton, Harris, Leroy and Dallas Pitre.  Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on the Old Sunset Hwy. in Opelousas was in charge of arrangements.

 

Dallas Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Thursday, 30 November 1995:  Funeral services for Mr. Dallas Pitre, 68, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the First United Pentecostal Church in Opelousas with burial in Prairie Ronde Baptist Cemetery.  Mr. Pitre, a resident of Swords, died at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday, November 29, 1995, in the V.A. Medical Center in Alexandria.  Survivors include: his wife, Margaret Jackson Pitre of Swords; a son, Darrell Pitre of Eunice; two stepsons, Richard Maxwell and James Maxwell, both of Brookhaven, Miss.; two daughters, Glenda Olivier of Swords and Patricia Joubert of Lumberton, Texas; a step-daughter, Laure White of Sontag, Miss.; a sister, Mrs. Lurline Vasseur of Prairie Ronde; and ten grandchildren.  Visiting hours will be held from noon to 10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. Friday until time of services.  Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on the Old Sunset Road in Opelousas is in charge of arrangements.
