Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Friday, 7 September 1979:  Prairie Ronde - Funeral services were to be held at 2 p.m. today in the Prairie Ronde Baptist Church here for Leroy Pitre, 59, of Prairie Ronde, who died at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the Opelousas General Hospital.  Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on N. Main St. of Opelousas was in charge of arrangements with burial in the church cemetery.  Survivors include his wife, Geneva Latiolais Pitre of Prairie Ronde; three sons, Gene Autray Pitre of Los Angeles, Calif., Wilfred Pitre of Opelousas; Ledo Waden Pitre of Prairie Ronde; one brother, Dallas Pitre of Swords; one sister, Mrs. Theodore (Lurline) Bassbur of Prairie Ronde and three grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, Delton Pitre and Harris Pitre.

Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Wednesday, 16 May 2007:  (photo) Funeral service for Mrs. Wilfred Pitre age 83 will be held at 10 AM Thursday May 17, 2007 at Funeral Home Chapel.  Mrs. Pitre is the formerly Rena Vasseur died May 14, 2007 at her resident in Opelousas, La.  Msgr. Louis Melancon will conduct the services.  Mrs. Rena Pitre is survived by a daughter Mrs. Loretta Prejean and her husband John Kelly Prejean of Opelousas, La., two granddaughters Mrs. Cindy Miller and her husband Glenn Miller of Gross Tete, La. and Mrs. Donna Credeur and her husband Edwin Credeur Jr. of Opelousas, La., two great-grandchildren Carl Miller Jr. and Raquel Miller, one great-great-granddaughter Gabrielle Nicole Cormier, one sister Mrs. Wilfred (Mable) Guillory of Opelousas, La., one brother Leo Vasseur of Prairie Rhonde, La.  Mrs. Rena Pitre is preceded in death by her husband Wilfred Pitre, three children Elvin, Levergne and Ana Lee, her parents Mr. Fadorin and Azeline Pitre Vasseur, three brothers Theodore, Nolton, and J.C. Vasseur, five sisters Ivel Vidrine, Orelia Deville, Lor Jayneaux, Leola Bellard, and Lonie Joubert.  Visitation will be held from 12 noon Wednesday May 16, 2207 to 10 PM.  Reopen Thursday at 8 AM until time of service.  A rosary will be recited at 7 PM Wednesday.

Obituary:  Opelousas - Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 2, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. for Enola Marie Dupre at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Homes in Opelousas.  Deacon Dwayne Joubert will officiate the services.  Rite of Committal will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Monday, December 2, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home.  A Rosary will be prayed at 1:30 p.m.  Enola Marie Dupre, age 93 and a resident of Lawtell, passed away on November 26, 2019 at Acadia St. Landry Guest Home.  Enola loved to spend time with her friends and family.  She enjoyed crocheting and listening to Cajun music.  Enola will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.  She is survived by her son, James Ray Johnson; brother, Austin Dupre, Jr.; grandchildren, Madori LaHaye (Vincent, Jr.), Sheila Richard (Troy) and Angela Fontenot (Joseph); eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Austin Dupre and Pauline Vasseur Dupre; and brothers, Clydiss Dupre (Margaret), Floyd Dupre (Joyce) and Teurling Dupre.

Obituary:  The Church Point News (LA), Wednesday, 13 December 1989:  Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, December 3, 1989 in the St. Bridget Catholic Church in Lawtell for Geneva Pitre, the former, Geneva Latiolais, 47, of Prairie Ronde.  The Church Point native died Friday, Dec. 1 in the Lafayette General Hospital following a short illness.  Burial was in the Prairie Rhonde Baptist Cemetery under the direction of Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas.  Survivors are one son, Ledo Pitre of Prairie Rhonde; one daughter-in-law, Danielle Pitre; two sisters, Mrs. Glen (Ana Belle) Bourgeois of Church Point and Mrs. Ray (Fay) Quebodeaux of Lake Charles; one grandson, Phillip Pitre.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Pitre and her parents, Phillip and Ursula Latiolais.  Pallbearers were Glen Bourgeois, Dale Miller, Bobby Richard, Ray Deville, Allen Quebodeaux and Phillip Quebodeaux.  She was employed at the Acadia-St. Landry Guest Home in Church Point.

Gene Autry Pitre:  Misc:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Sunday, 3 March 1957:  State police here Saturday issued a state-wide alarm for a missing Opelousas boy.  He is Gene Autrey Pitre, 16, police said.  He is the son of Mrs. Dolly Pitre, College Ave.  Police said the boy had been reported missing since noon Thursday.  They gave this description of the youth: Height, 5 feet 10 inches; weight, 135 pounds, brown hair and eyes; wears eyeglasses.  When last seen he was wearing a red shirt and blue jeans, police said.

 

Wilfred Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Tuesday, 21 August 2012:  (photo) Breaux Bridge - Wilfred Pitre, 67, passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2012 at his residence in Breaux Bridge.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 , at First United Pentecostal Church in Breaux Bridge.  Interment will follow at d'Augereau - Green Cemetery in Breaux Bridge.  The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Monday and continue on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at First United Pentecostal Church, 3454 Main Hwy, Breaux Bridge, LA 70517.  Wilfred was a former Pastor of the First Apostolic Church in Brookhaven, Mississippi.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting and was a craftsman of rustic furniture.  Survivors include wife, Verna d' Augereau Pitre of Breaux Bridge; his son, Boisy G. Pitre and his wife, Toni of Opelousas; his daughters, Naomi Beth Pitre and Rebekah Dawn Pitre, both of Breaux Bridge; his brother, Ledo Waven Pitre of Crowley; and two step-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Pitre; his mother, Dolly Dupre' and his brother, Gene Autry Pitre.  Pallbearers will be Boisy Pitre, Mitch Pitre, Marlin d'Augereau, Allen d'Augereau, Darrell Pitre and Darrell Olivier.  Honorary pallbearers will be Lee Morrison, Milton d' Augereau, Harry d' Augereau, Harry Johnson, Dirk Soileau, Jerry Delaughter and Ronnie Lacombe.  Pellerin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
