Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Friday, 26 December 1952:  Ville Platte - Funeral services were held at the Sacred Heart Catholic church here Friday afternoon for Olivier Pitre, 76, who died suddenly Christmas day.  Interment followed in the church cemetery.  Mr. Pitre had just eaten dinner when he was stricken with a heart attack.  He is survived by his wife, the former Atile Soileau; a daughter, Mrs. Elie Fontenot; three sons, Olipsey Pitre of Houston and Harry and Roy Pitre of Ville Platte, eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.  Ardoin Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Tuesday, 8 June 1954:  Ville Platte - Funeral services were held at 5 p.m. yesterday at Sacred Heart Catholic church for Mrs. Olivier Pitre, 71, who died at her home at 4:30 p.m. Sunday.  Mrs. Pitre, the former Atile Soileau, was buried in the church cemetery with Ardoin Funeral Home in charge.  Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Elie Fontenot of Ville Platte; three sons, Olipsey Pitre, Houston, Tex.; Roy and Harry Pitre of Ville Platte; three sisters, Mrs. Cleo Tate of Eunice; Mrs. Edville Marcantel and Mrs. Lester Daire of Ville Platte; six brothers, Henry, Jules, Robert, Alphonse, Durand and Marion Soileau of Ville Platte, nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Olipsie Pitre:  The Ville Platte Gazette (Ville Platte, LA), Thursday, 17 June 1999:  Port Arthur, Texas - Funeral services were held for Olipsie Pitre, 94, of Nederland, Texas at St. Charles Catholic Church in Nederland, Texas on Monday, June 14.  Burial followed in the Greenlawn Memorial Park in Port Arthur, Texas.  Formerly from Ville Platte, Olipsie Pitre died Friday, June 11, 1999, at Mid-Jefferson Hospital in Nederland, Texas.  He had retired from Western Electric Telephone in Houston, Texas in 1962.  Survivors include his wife, Alma Walker Pitre; three sons, Charles Pitre of Las Vegas, Nevada, Alton Pitre and Paul Pitre, both of Liberty, Texas; one stepson, David Walker of Galveston, Texas; and one brother, Harry Pitre of Ville Platte.

Eve Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Thursday, 24 August 1989:  Ville Platte - Funeral services for Mrs. Elie Fontenot, the former Eve Pitre, 81, will be held at 3 p.m. today in Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church here with burial in Tee-Mamou Cemetery.  Mrs. Fontenot, a resident of Ville Platte, died at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday in Humana Hospital in Ville Platte.  Survivors include a son, Nathan Fontenot of Ville Platte; three brothers, Olipsie Pitre of Nederland, Texas, Roy and Harry Pitre, both of Ville Platte; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.  Ardoin's Guardian Chapel of Ville Platte is in charge of arrangements.

Roy Pitre:  The Town Talk (Alexandria, LA), Saturday, 18 April 1998:  Ville Platte - Services for Roy Pitre will be at 1 p.m. Sunday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Entombment will be in Sacred Heart Mausoleum under direction of Ardoin.  Pitre, 87, of Ville Platte died Friday, April 17, 1998, in Ville Platte Medical Center.  Survivors include his wife, Sellonie Fontenot Pitre of Ville Platte; one son, Anthony Pitre of Ville Platte; one daughter, Cecile Miller of Baton Rouge; two brothers, Harry Pitre of Ville Platte and Olipsie Pitre of Beaumont, Texas; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  A rosary service will begin at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.  Friends may call from 2-9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until time of services Sunday in the funeral home.

 

Harry Pitre:  Ville Platte Gazette (Ville Platte, LA), 31 January 2018:  Harry Pitre:  March 08, 1923 - January 30, 2018:  Ville Platte - Funeral services for Mr. Harry Pitre, 94, will be held today, February 1, 2018 at 1 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church mausoleum.  Mr. Pitre, a resident of Ville Platte, and a WWII Veteran, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Mercy Regional Medical Center.  He will be missed by his loving family, wife, Rosa Briley Pitre of Ville Platte; children, David Paul Fontenot and wife, Patty Ruth of Ville Platte; Arlene Coreil and husband, Paul of Baton Rouge; Janice Colligan and husband, Jim of Ville Platte; Peggy Tate and husband, Mitch of Ville Platte; John Pitre and wife, Lexie of Boyce; 11 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Olivier and Atile Soileau Pitre, grandchildren, Abram Coreil, Lesley Fontenot Brunet, and brothers and sister.  Visitation will be held today, February 1, 2018 from 10 a.m. until the time of services, with a rosary being recited at 11 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, masses for Mr. Harry can be made in his name.  LaVille Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
