Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Friday, 22 May 1987:  Ville Platte - Funeral services for Mrs. Avey Soileau, the former Avey Manuel, 81, are incomplete, but will be held Saturday in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church here with burial in the old Ville Platte Cemetery.  Mrs. Soileau, a retired janitor of Lake Charles, died at 12:05 a.m. today in St. Patrick's Hospital of Lake Charles after a long illness.  Survivors include a son, Donald Chapman of New York, N.Y.; a daughter, Mrs. Grace P. Vidrine of Lake Charles; a step-daughter, Mrs. Joyce Miller of Ville Platte; three grandchildren.  Visitation will be through 10 p.m. today and from 7 a.m. Saturday to time of services in Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte, which is in charge of arrangements.

 

Misc.:  Weekly Town Talk (Alexandria, LA), Saturday, 8 November 1947:  Ville Platte, La., Nov. 4 - Miss Grace Pitre, daughter of Mrs. Artheon Chapman and the late Mr. Pitre, and Mr. Russell Vidrine, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Vidrine of Plaisance, were married at the Catholic church with Msgr. J.M. Bourgeois officiating.  Attendants were Misses Nell Mae Smith and Marjorie Fontenot and Messrs. Herman Fontnot and Clarence Rozas.

Grace Pitre:  The Ville Platte Gazette (Ville Platte, LA), Sunday, 8 June 2008:  Lake Charles - Funeral services will be held for Grace Pitre Vidrine, 85, of Lake Charles, at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Lake Charles at 10 a.m., Monday, June 9.  Burial will follow in the Consolata Cemetery.  A native of Ville Platte, Mrs. Vidrine died Friday, June 6, 2008, at a local hospital after a lengthy illness.  She was a 1940 graduate of Ville Platte High School and lived most of her life in Lake Charles.  She worked as a bookkeeper for Folse Motor Company, and she later worked as a telephone operator for the Ville Platte Telephone Company.  She also was a devout member of St. Margaret Catholic Church for 55 years.  She will be most remembered for her talent of working crossword puzzles and for her pride in her excellent culinary skills that no one else could begin to measure up to.  Survivors include her devoted husband of 60 years, Russell A. Vidrine of Lake Charles; three daughters, Chris Vidrine, Susan Lowrey and her husband, Russell, and Marlene Vidrine-Barrilleaux and her husband, Clay, all of Lake Charles; two grandsons, Michael David Lowrey and Daniel Paul Lowrey, both of Lake Charles; and one brother, Donald Ray Chapman of Eunice.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice Pitre and Avey Manuel Soileau; her son, Martin Paul Vidrine and two step-sisters, Lillie Landreneau and Joyce Miller.  Msgr. Charles Dubois will officiate.  Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles will be in charge of arrangements.
