Obituaries for the children:

Charles Pitre:  Detroit Free Press (Detroit, MI), Sunday, 22 March 1903:  Choked to death by meat - Charles Peters was eating it at his supper - muscles contracted and he couldn't breathe - Doctor arrived on scene too late to save him - "Accidental strangulation" was the cause of death noted on a certificate which appeared yesterday at the health office, and bore the name of Charles Peters.  Peters was choked to death Thursday by a piece of meat.  He was a carpenter and returned to his home, 1009 Monroe avenue, from work on the night in question, in good health and with a good appetite.  During the progress of the evening meal, however, a large chunk of meat in some manner became lodged in his throat and refused to go either up or down.  The pressure contracted the muscles, entirely closing the windpipe, and the man at once began to show all the symptoms of suffocation.  Dr. E. Rodd, of 955 Champlain street, received a hurry-up call and on arrival opened the trachea in order to let in air.  Peters, however, was too far gone to rally and his heart action soon failed altogether.  The deceased was a widower 57 years old and lived with his parents, who are very aged.

Victor Pitre:  Detroit Times (Detroit, MI), Thursday, 20 August 1908:  Deaths - Victor Peters, 50 years, 28 Cutler; tuberculosis.
