Obituaries for the children:
Marie Helene Philomene Pitre: The Flint Daily Journal (Flint, MI), Monday, 11 December 1933: Mrs. Jay Harris, 59 years old, of Detroit, shot accidentally yesterday morning by a 13-year-old boy, to whom her husband had given a .22-calibre rifle, died today in Hurley hospital. A bullet penetrated her chest on the left side and was believed to have glanced downward into her abdomen. The shooting happened at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Nash, on the Dort highway between the Mt. Morris and Stanley roads, about a mile from Mt. Morris. The boy is Nash's son, Walter Edwin. He made a statement at the sheriff's office last night and then was taken back to his home. Unaware that it was occupied, the boy fired at an out building at the rear of the house and hit Mrs. Harris. He was trying out the rifle. Mr. Harris presented the gun to him during the summer. The firing mechanism was defective and Saturday Mr. Harris took the gun to Detroit for repairs. He returned it to the boy yesterday. Mrs. Harris was taken to the hospital but physicians were unable to determine where the bullet had lodged. An x-ray examination failed to show its location. Sheriff Thomas W. Wolcott and Deputy Gerald Ruddy, who investigated, declared the shooting accidental.
Josephine Pitre: Misc - Detroit Times (Detroit, MI), Sunday, 1 September 1957: Happy Anniversary (photo of the couple) Mr. and Mrs. Henry Glaser: "Live right and don't cheat, if you want to stay married 60 years." And if you don't believe it can be done with that simple formula, Mr. and Mrs. Henry L. Glaser, 14230 Auburn, will prove otherwise Sunday - their sixtieth wedding anniversary. Glaser, who will be 80 in February and his wife, Josephine, 83 in April, said: "It was real love when we first met. I had only $10 in my pocket when we got married." A retired insurance executive with the Metropolitan Life Co., Glaser has pretty definite views on today's romancing. He said: "It's not true love today like in the old days. Girls want too much luxury to begin with and at one time. In the old days, if a man had only a dollar in his pocket and he was a good man, that was enough. You've got to make a real beginning to be married 60 years." Glaser, born at Stoney Creek near Monroe, and his wife from Canada, met while working in a store in Detroit. The Glasers have a son, Roy, 59; a daughter, Mrs. Grace Smith; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. All will be present for an anniversary dinner in the couple's honor Sunday at Mrs. Smith's home, 14150 Warwick Rd.
