Death occurred early Sunday morning. The deceased had been in the hospital for some time and it was thought he was getting better, but a sudden change for the worse caused his death. He is survived by one son in Detroit, and a daughter, Mrs. Lassaline, of Walkerville. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Ford, after which interment will be made in Our Lady of the Lake cemetery.

Nelly Mathilde Pitre: The Windsor Star (ONT), Friday, 29 September 1899: The employees in the pill department of Parke, Davis & Co. at Walkerville, were shocked this forenoon by the sudden death of Miss Nellie Pitre, who dropped to the floor from her place at the table and expired instantly without a word or sign. Dr. Samson was called, but he was of the opinion that she died before reaching the floor. The doctor attributes the death to heart disease. She was apparently in good health, but about a year ago, as far as could be remembered, had a fainting fit. The deceased girl, who was about 20 years of age, resided on Fifth st. with Mrs. W. Parker, a relative.
- The Windsor Star (ONT), Monday, 2 October 1899: The funeral of Miss Nellie Pitre, whose sudden death while at work in Parke, Davis & Co.’s laboratory at Walkerville on Friday was reported in The Record, took place this morning, service being held in Our Lady of the Lake church. The services were largely attended by friends of the deceased, and by the employees of Parke, Davis & Co. The employees were given the privilege of attending the funeral, and nearly all availed themselves of the opportunity. The pall bearers were John Doane, James Ross, Emery Reid, W. B. Revell, J. Bradford and Geo. Hickman. Among the floral offerings were two beautiful pieces, one from the employees and the other from the company’s superintendent.
