Obituary:  Courier & Freeman (Potsdam, NY), 2 February 1950:  LaShomb Dies, Ran Postal Van - A Requiem Mass was offered for Miner Joseph LaShomb in St. Mary’s Church Jan. 24, three days after the former post office employee and bartender died in Ogdensburg.  Burial followed in Holy Cross cemetery, Hopkinton.  Pallbearers for the father of Rutherford, Neil and Elwood LaShomb were George Smith, John O'Hargan, George Amelotte, Tim Calnon, Stanley LaValley and Ezra Perry.  Leo Sullivan had charge of the funeral arrangements.  The elder Mr. LaShomb was 67 when he died after six weeks' illness in the A. Barton Hepburn Hospital.  Although he lived most of his adult life in Potsdam, he divided his time between this village and Ogdensburg since his second marriage, in 1939, to Emma Vincent, who survives him.  A native of Brasher Falls, Mr. La Shomb was born on April 30, 1882, a son of Louis and Eliza Quinell La Shomb.  Twenty-five years later in 1907, he was married to Ruby Sanpier in Hopkinton.  She died in 1936.  Of that marriage there are eight surviving children, three sons in Potsdam and the following daughters: Mrs. Margaret Rose, Ogdensburg; Mrs. Katherine Finlon, Washington, D. C. and Mrs. Mary McGuire, Mrs. June Benecke and Mrs. Benedetta McKay, all of Long Island.  The couple had 13 grandchildren.  Mr. LaShomb also leaves six sisters: Mrs. Hattie Blair and Mrs. Mabel Perry, Hopkinton; Mrs. Louise Sharlow, Massena; Mrs. Lola Hamilton and Mrs. Alice LaClair, Syracuse and Mrs. Ida Sanpier of Allens Falls.

Obituary:  Courier & Freeman (Potsdam, NY), 1 January 1936, Southville - Mrs. Minor Lashomb had a very bad shock on Christmas eve from which she never regained consciousness and passed away Friday, Dec. 27 at 2 o’clock.  Ruby Sampier Lashomb was born in the town of Parishville 46 years ago and has always lived in this vicinity.  About 28 years ago she married Minor Lashomb who together with eight children remain to mourn the loss.  Three of the children are married and live near home and the rest are at home, two attend Potsdam high and the two youngest girls 12 and 11 are in the school here.  One daughter, Mary 21, owing to her mother’s ill health for the past two years has kept house for the family most of the time.  Prayer was at the house at 10 and services at 10:30 at the Holy Cross church in Hopkinton Monday morning and interment in the cemetery at Hopkinton.

Obituary:  Ogdensburg Advance News (NY), Sunday, 9 January 1972:  Mrs. Emma Gooley Vincent LaShombe Seguin, 85, of 256 Belmont Courts, city, widow of Edward Seguin, died unexpectedly at 1:20 a.m.Saturday (Jan. 8, 1972) at Hepburn Hospital.  She was taken to the hospital in the Rescue Squad ambulance Friday.  The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Fox Funeral Home, 528 Franklin St., and at 10:30 a.m. at Notre Dame Church.  Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery.  Calling hours at the funeral home are afternoons and evenings today and Monday.  Surviving are a son, Marcel Vincent of Youngstown, N.Y.; two daughters, Mrs. Pauline Trumble of this city, and Mrs. Myron (Rita) Mellon of Norwood; two sisters, Mrs. Lillian Roberts of Rouses Point, and Mrs. Theodore (Bertha) Montpelier of this city; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  Mrs. Seguin was born at Champlain, N.Y., Oct. 9,1886, a daughter of Dexter and Sophia Letenvre Gooley.  She attended schools at Rouses Point.  She was first married to Eustache Vincent of Guillaume, Que., Canada, in 1910.  They lived at Alburgh, Vt., and Ogdensburg.  He was employed by the Rutland Railroad.  He died in 1934.  She was married to Miner LaShombe of Potsdam, April 9, 1939 at Notre Dame Church here.  For eight years, they lived at Potsdam, returning to Ogdensburg in 1947.  Mr. LaShombe died in January 1950.  She was married to Edward Seguin of Ogdensburg at Notre Dame Church in 1966.  He died in 1968.  Since his death, Mrs. Seguin had resided at Belmont Courts.  She was a member of Notre Dame Church Parish and of the Ogdensburg Senior Citizens' Club.

Rutherford Lashomb:  Courier & Freeman (Potsdam, NY), Tuesday, 30 Sep 1980: Funeral services for Rutherford LaShomb, 72, of Rte. 3, Potsdam were held Monday, (Sept. 29, 1980) at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Potsdam, Rev. Euclid Marier of Holy Cross Church of Hopkinton and St. Michael's Church in Parishville officiating.  Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery.  Arrangements were with the Garner Funeral Home.  Mr. LaShomb was dead on arrival at Potsdam Hospital, Friday evening (Sept. 26, 1980) after apparently being stricken with a heart attack at home.  He had been ill for several months.  Mr. LaShomb is survived by his wife, Margaret; three sons, Eugene of Lubbock, Texas; Paul of Potsdam; Richard of Norwood; two daughters, Miss Shirley LaShomb of Potsdam; Mrs. Joyce Mitchell of Massena; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Maguire of Jacksonville, Fla., Mrs. June Beneke of Long Island, Mrs. Bernetta Mitch, Walterborough, S.C.; Mrs. Catherine Fenlon of Silver Springs, Md.; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by one son, Rudy, in 1973; two brothers, Neil and Elwood; and one sister, Margaret Rose.  Mr. LaShomb was born on July 16, 1908, in Stockholm, the son of Minor and Ruby (Sampier) LaShomb.  He attended local schools and married Margaret E. Ellis in Hopkinton on April 30, 1931.  He worked as a machine shop operator for Potsdam Auto Parts until his retirement in 1973.  He was a member of St. Michael's Parish of Parishville, and the Potsdam, Norwood, and Parishville Senior Citizen's Clubs.
 

Margaret Lashomb:  Potsdam Courier & Freeman (NY), Tuesday, 22 October 1974:  Funeral services for Margaret L. Rose, 64, were held Thursday, Oct. 17, 1974 at 10:30 a.m. at the Garner Funeral Home and at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church with the Rev. Msgr. William J. Argy officiating.  Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Hopkinton.  Mrs. Rose died Monday, Oct. 14, 1974 at the Edward John Noble Hospital in Gouverneur, where she had been a patient for two weeks.  Surviving are a son, Raymond, Jr. of Indiana; a brother, Rutherford Lashomb of Potsdam; four sisters, Mrs. William (Mary) McGuire of Central Islip, L.I., Mrs. John (June) Benekey of Commack, L.I., Mrs. Edward (Katherine) Fenlon of Silver Springs, Md., Mrs. Michael (Bernetta) Mitch of Levittown, L.I.; three grandchildren and nieces and nephews.  She was born Feb. 8, 1910 in Parisville, a daughter of Minor and Rubie Sampier Lashomb.  She married Raymond Rose in 1931.  He died in 1970.  She had been living with Mrs. Vera Davis in Edwards.

Samuel Neil Lajambe:  Courier Freeman (Potsdam, NY), Thursday, 12 December 1968: West Stockholm - Neil LaShomb, 55, W. Stockholm, died of a coronary occlusion about noon Friday, Dec. 6, while plowing snow in a driveway.  The tractor was stopped, but the motor was still running.  Mr. LaShombe had slumped over the steering wheel and was noticed by neighbors.  The Potsdam Rescue Squad was called and he was taken to Potsdam hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival by Dr. Carl Clark.  The body was released to the Garner Funeral Home.  Mr. LaShombe had been under the care of Dr. John Austin for a heart condition.  He had been plowing snow all morning in the neighborhood of his home.  Mr. LaShombe was born Dec. 4, 1912, in Parishville, a son of Minor and Ruby Sampier LaShombe.  He married Georgia Ellis April 22, 1933, in the Holy Cross Church in Hopkinton.  He was a veteran of World War II and was self-employed.  Besides his wife, he is survived by his step-mother, Mrs. Edward Sequin of Ogdensburg, two sons, Samuel of Potsdam and Charles, at home; a daughter, Mrs. Gary (Rose) Lade of Bridgeport; a brother, Rutherford LaShomb of Potsdam; five sisters, Mrs. William (Mary) Maguire of Central Islip, L. I., Mrs. John (June) Beneke of Comack, L.I., Mrs. Michael (Bernetta) Mitch of Levittown, Mrs. Edward (Catherine) Fenlon of Silver Springs, Md., and Mrs. Raymond (Margaret) Rose of Ogdensburg, and five grandchildren.  Services were held Monday morning at 9 a.m. from the Garner Funeral Home, followed by a requiem mass at 9:30 from St. Mary’s Church.  Burial will be in the spring in the family plot in Hopkinton cemetery.

LaShomb, 41, of 157 Holland St., will be Monday at the Garner Funeral Home, Potsdam.  Burial will be in Hopkinton Cemetery.  Mr. LaShomb, who died Wednesday at home after a short illness, was born in Parishville and lived here eight years.  A veteran of World War II in the South Pacific Theater.  Mr. LaShomb was employed at W. Fitzgerald Contractors Co.  Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Bessie Allen LaShomb; two brothers, Rutherford J. and Neil S. LaShomb, both of Potsdam; five sisters, Mrs. Raymond Rose of Ogdensburg, Mrs. William McGuire of Central Islip, Mrs. John Beneke of Commack, Mrs. Michael Mitch of Levittown and Mrs. Edward Fenlon of Silver Springs, Md.  Friends may call from 2 to 4 today at the Burns Funeral Home, 652 W. Bernetta Lashomb:  The Post and Courier (Charleston, SC), Tuesday, 9 October 2007:  Walterboro - Mrs. Bernetta LaShombe "Bunny" Mitch, of 318 Hill St., widow of Michael Mitch, died Sunday afternoon at her residence after an extended illness.  She was 83.  Mrs. Mitch was born April 8, 1924, in West Stockholm, NY a daughter of the late Minor LaShombe and Ruby Sampier LaShombe.  A former antique dealer, she was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, where she was formerly active in the church choir.  Survivors include a son, Michael E. Mitch, of Honea Path, and a daughter, Victoria Luckschieter, and husband Bruce, of Massapequa, Long Island.  There are seven grandchildren, Tommy Luckschieter, Michelle Lucas, Michael Mitch, Jr., Vickie Anne Davis, Nicole Mitch, Daniel Mitch and Will Mitch.  Eight great-grandchildren also survive.  A Rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, in the chapel of Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, with visitation following until 8:00 p.m.  A private committal service will be held at the Beaufort National Cemetery, where she will be interred beside her late husband.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be made to the Hospice Care and Palliative Foundation, Walterboro, SC.  Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, Walterboro, SC, is in charge of arrangements.
