Obituary: Courier Freeman (Potsdam, NY), Thursday, 12 December 1968: West Stockholm - Neil LaShomb, 55, W. Stockholm, died of a coronary occlusion about noon Friday, Dec. 6, while plowing snow in a driveway. The tractor was stopped, but the motor was still running. Mr. LaShombe had slumped over the steering wheel and was noticed by neighbors. The Potsdam Rescue Squad was called and he was taken to Potsdam hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival by Dr. Carl Clark. The body was released to the Garner Funeral Home. Mr. LaShombe had been under the care of Dr. John Austin for a heart condition. He had been plowing snow all morning in the neighborhood of his home. Mr. LaShombe was born Dec. 4, 1912, in Parishville, a son of Minor and Ruby Sampier LaShombe. He married Georgia Ellis April 22, 1933, in the Holy Cross Church in Hopkinton. He was a veteran of World War II and was self-employed. Besides his wife, he is survived by his step-mother, Mrs. Edward Sequin of Ogdensburg, two sons, Samuel of Potsdam and Charles, at home; a daughter, Mrs. Gary (Rose) Lade of Bridgeport; a brother, Rutherford LaShomb of Potsdam; five sisters, Mrs. William (Mary) Maguire of Central Islip, L. I., Mrs. John (June) Beneke of Comack, L.I., Mrs. Michael (Bernetta) Mitch of Levittown, Mrs. Edward (Catherine) Fenlon of Silver Springs, Md., and Mrs. Raymond (Margaret) Rose of Ogdensburg, and five grandchildren. Services were held Monday morning at 9 a.m. from the Garner Funeral Home, followed by a requiem mass at 9:30 from St. Mary’s Church. Burial will be in the spring in the family plot in Hopkinton cemetery.

LaShombe, 91, of Potsdam will be held Oct. 28 at 12 p.m. the Holy Cross
Cemetery in Hopkinton with the Rev. Lee Sweeney celebrant. There will be
no calling hours. Arrangements are with the Garner Funeral Home in
Potsdam. Mrs. LaShombe died Thursday (Oct. 19, 2006) at Massena Memorial
Hospital, where she had been admitted the day prior. She had been a
resident of the St. Regis Nursing Home in Massena. She is survived by a
son, Charles and Jane LaShombe of Norwood; a daughter, Rose and Donald
Myers of Chittenango; seven grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and two
great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Neil S.
LaShombe in 1968; two brothers, Gideon and Robert Ellis; two sisters,
Ella Hayes and Margaret LaShombe; and a son, Samuel N. LaShombe in
1977. Mrs. LaShombe was born on Sept. 14, 1915 in Parishville, the
daughter of Ernst Ellis and Elizabeth Tupper Ellis. She attended
Potsdam High School. She received her GED in 1965. She married
Neil S. LaShombe on April 22, 1933 at the Holy Cross Church in Hopkinton.
They lived in West Stockholm. She worked at Potsdam Central School from
1959-1978 in the cafeteria. She was one of the first residents of the
Midtown Apartments in Potsdam, and was very active in the senior citizens clubs.
She was a lifetime member of the West Stockholm Fire Department Ladies
Auxiliary. Memorial contributions can be made to the West Stockholm
Volunteer Rescue.

Samuel Neil Lashomb: Potsdam Courier and Freeman (NY), Tuesday, 31 May 1977: Samuel N. LaShombe, 42, Parishville, was pronounced dead on arrival at Potsdam Hospital following a one-car accident May 12. According to the St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Department, LaShombe apparently suffered a heart attack while driving north on Route 11, three miles from Sannfordville. He was pronouced dead by coroner's physician Dr. Carol Hollan. The funeral was Sunday, May 15 at the Garner Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Mary's Church, Potsdam, Reverend Anthony Pease, celebrant. Burial was in Visitation Cemetery, Norfolk. LaShombe is survived by his wife, Virginia; two daughters, Michele 17, and Joanne 13; a son, Martin 12; his mother, Georgia LaShombe, Unionville; a brother, Charles, Norwood; and a sister, Rose Lade, Chittenango. He was born Nov. 29, 1934 in Potsdam, son of Neil and Georgia Ellis LaShombe, and was a graduate of Potsdam High School. He later served with the Army in Germany. He married Virginia Regan in the Church of the Visitation, Norfolk. May 10, 1958. LaShombe, a 21-year employee of the New York Telephone Co., was a foreman with the company at the time of his death. He was a member of St. Michael's Church, the Potsdam Junior Hockey Board, the New York Telephone Pioneers, and the Potsdam B.P.O. Elks, of which he was a trustee and a past exalted ruler.

Rose Marie Lashomb: Daily Courier Observer (Massena, NY), Tuesday, 5 June 2012: Rose Marie Myers, 72, of Bridgeport passed away Saturday surrounded by her loving family following a long illness. A daughter of the late Neil and Georgia LaShombe she grew up in the West Stockholm and Potsdam area moving to Bridgeport in 1959. She worked for Galson Corp. of East Syracuse as a lab technician and receptionist. She will be missed everyday, especially her smile and caring heart that touched all those who knew her. We all love you Rose. Besides her parents, Rose was also pre-deceased by her brother Sam LaShombe. Surviving are her husband of 28 years, Donald Myers, her son Scott (Denise) Lade of Florida, her daughter Brenda (Charles) Church of Bridgeport; her stepson Donald (Tracey) Myers, her stepdaughter Teri (Steve) Smith; her brother Charles (Jane) LaShombe; half-brother Elbridge Randell; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A calling hour will be held 11-12noon Thursday at Traub Funeral Home, Bridgeport with a 12noon service at the funeral home, followed by a 1pm Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis of Assisi Church Bridgeport. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of CNY.
