Obituary:  Teche News (St. Martinville, LA), Friday, 20 April 1956:  Funeral services were held last Friday at St. Genevieve church in Lafayette for Walter Pitre, who died in a New Orleans hospital Thursday of last week.  Interment was in the St. Genevieve Catholic cemetery in Lafayette.  Survivors include two sons, J.D. Pitre of Beaumont, Texas and Lester A. Pitre of Lafayette; two sisters, Mrs. Jack Sullivan and Mrs. Adam Duplechien of Port Arthur, Texas and 10 grandchildren.  Mr. Pitre was a native of St. Martin Parish.  He was the son of the late Joseph Pitre and Alicia LaGrange, both natives of St. Martin Parish.  He had lived most of his life in Lafayette and was employed by the City of Lafayette.

Obituary:  Beaumont Journal (TX), Saturday, 15 April 1950:  Lafayette, La., April 15 - Funeral services for Mrs. Walter Pitre, 63, were held at 5 p.m. Friday at St. Genevieve's Catholic church with burial in the church cemetery.  Survivors include her husband; sons, Lester A. Pitre of Lafayette and J.D. Pitre of Beaumont, Texas; one brother, George Lalande of Kidder, Mrs. Joe Mallet, Mrs. Arnaudville; five sisters, Mrs. Louis Manuel Mallet, Mrs. Jean Quebodeaux and Mrs. Adolph Dupuis of Arnaudville.  Ten grandchildren also survive.  Martin and Castille Funeral home had charge of funeral arrangements.

Lester Anthony Pitre:  Beaumont Journal (TX), Wednesday, 5 February 1969:  Lafayette - Funeral services for Lester Anthony Pitre of Lafayette will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday in St. Patrick Catholic Church in Lafayette.  Burial in Calvary Cemetery will be under direction of Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette.  Pitre died at 7:30 p.m. Monday in Lafayette following a short illness.  He was a native and lifelong resident of Lafayette and was a cab driver.  Among his survivors is a brother, J.D. Pitre of Beaumont.
