Obituary:  The Daily Advertiser (Lafayette, LA), Sunday, 1 March 1953:  Ville Platte, March 1 - Funeral services were held here Friday for Joseph L. 'Bebe' Pitre, age 77 of Ville Platte, who died late Thursday afternoon.  Services were at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Msgr. J. M. Bourgeois officiating.  Interment was in the adjacent cemetery.  He is survived by four sons, J. A., Carlton, J. B. and Luke, all of Ville Platte; four daughters, Mrs. Darius Ardoin, Mrs. Orise Foret, Mrs. Moise Ortego and Mrs. Luke Ardoin, all of Ville Platte; one brother, Willie, of Ville Platte; and four sisters, Mrs. Artemon Guillory, Mrs. Ellie Ardoin, Mrs. Odin Ardoin and Mrs. Alfred Ardoin all of Ville Platte.  Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte was in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Tuesday, 24 March 1964:  Mrs. 'Beb' Pitre Funeral Rites in Ville Platte - Ville Platte - Funeral services were held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Sunday at 2 p.m. for Mrs. Joseph L. 'Beb' Pitre, 83, of Ville Platte, who died at the Ville Platte Medical Center after an illness of many years.  The former Marie Louisa Soileau, she is survived by three sons, Carlton Pitre of Cottondale, Fla., J. B. Pitre of Gonzales, and Luke Pitre of Baton Rouge; four daughters, Mrs. Darius Ardoin of Mamou, Mrs. Orise Foret and Mrs. Moise Ortego of Ville Platte, and Mrs. Luke Ardoin of Grand Prairie.  Also surviving are one brother, Alibe 'Beb' Soileau of Ville Platte, and one sister, Mrs. Gilbert Soileau of Washington; 24 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.  Burial was in the Sacred Heart cemetery with Ardoin Funeral Home in charge.

Marie Therese Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Tuesday, 27 December 1983:  Mamou - Funeral services for Mrs. Darius Ardoin, 84, were to be held at 10 a.m. today in St. Ann Roman Catholic Church here with burial in the Reed Cemetery.  Mrs. Ardoin, the former Marie Theresa Pitre of Mamou, died at 9:05 a.m. Monday in Savoy Memorial Hospital following a short illness.  Survivors include three sons, Louis, John and Leo Roberie, all of Mamou; two daughters, Mrs. Shelby (Stella) Fontenot of Jennings and Mrs. Alcide (Susan) Fontenot of Pine Prairie; two brothers, Carlton Pitre of Florida and Luke Pitre of Baton Rouge; three sisters, Mrs. Oris Foret, Mrs. Moise Ortego and Mrs. Luke Ardoin, all of Ville Platte; 21 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren.  Ardoin Funeral Home of Mamou is in charge of arrangements.

 

Adelie 'Adile' Pitre:  The Ville Platte Gazette (Ville Platte, LA), Thursday, 24 February 1994:  Funeral services were held on Wednesday, February 23, 1994 at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church here for Mrs. Orise Foret, the former Adile Pitre, 90, of Ville Platte, who died at 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 22, 1994 in Ville Platte Medical Center following a long illness.  Burial followed in Evangeline Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte.  She was a housewife.  Mrs. Foret was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Orise Foret.  Survivors include: three sons, Huey Foret, Harold Foret, and Byron Foret, all of Ville Platte; one daughter, Joycelyn Lee of Opelousas; one brother, Luke Pitre of Baton Rouge; two sisters, Mrs. Moise (Rita) Ortego, and Mrs. Luke (Belle) Ardoin, both of Ville Platte; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Joseph Ambroise Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Wednesday, 28 April 1954:  Ville Platte - Funeral services were held at 9 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic church for J. A. Pitre, 48, who died at 6:50 a.m. yesterday after an illness of approximately two months.  Burial was in the church cemetery with Ardoin Funeral Home in charge.  Mr. Pitre is survived by his mother, Mrs. J. L. Pitre; four sisters, Mrs. Darius Ardoin of Mamou, Mrs. Luke Ardoin of Grand Prairie, and Mrs. Orise Foret and Mrs. Moise Ortego, Ville Platte; three brothers, Colton Pitre of Cottondale, Fla., J. B. and Luke Pitre of Grand Prairie.

 

Rita Pitre:  The Ville Platte Gazette (Ville Platte, LA), Thursday, 4 April 2002:  Mrs. Moise (Rita P.) Ortego, March 9, 1908 - April 1, 2002 - Funeral services were held for Mrs. Moise (Rita P.) Ortego, 94, of Ville Platte, the former Rita Pitre, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 2.  Burial followed in the Evangeline Memorial Cemetery.  A native of Tate Cove, Mrs. Ortego died at 12:40 a.m., Monday, April 1, 2002, at Ville Platte Medical Center after a short illness.  She was a homemaker.  Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Edwin and Eva Ortego of Ville Platte; three grandchildren, Wayne Ortego, James Ortego and his wife, Sheri, and Tony Ortego and his wife, Kellie; a sister, Mary Belle Ardoin of Ville Platte; eight grandchildren, Dana Ortego, Joe Ortego, Keith Ortego, Quentin Ortego, Leanna Ortego, Jacob Ortego, Nicholas Ortego and Emily Ortego; and two great-great-grandchildren, Hannah Ortego and Tristi Ortego.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Moise Ortego.  LaVille Funeral Home of Ville Platte was in charge of arrangements.

Jean Baptiste Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Thursday, 24 August 1967:  Funeral services are pending for J. B. 'Bot' Pitre, 55, of Gonzales, who died at 9:30 this morning of self-inflicted gunshot wounds.  His body will be brought to Lafond and Son Funeral Home in Opelousas tonight.  Services will be held in Grand Prairie.  The death was ruled a suicide by Ascension Parish authorities.  Survivors are his widow, the former Louanna Roberie; three sons, John Elvin and Carl Pitre of Gonzales and Pfc. Charles J. Luke Pitre:  Funeral services for Mr. Luke "Pete" Pitre, 85, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas with burial in Bellevue Memorial Park.  The Rev. Angelo Cremaldi will conduct the services.  Mr. Pitre, a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Grand Prairie, died Monday, March 26, 2001, at his residence.  He was a Retired Security Guard for the State of Louisiana.  Survivors include: three daughters, Deanie Bourque and husband Matherne of Grand Prairie, Rena Felder Sebastian and husband John Felder and Karen Gautreau and husband Errol, both of Baton Rouge; two sisters, Rita Ortego and Belle Ardoin, both of Ville Platte; 11 grandchildren, Donna Brignac, Mona Esquilin, Liz Roberie, Patty Bourque, James Ricky Sebastian, Roxane Eskan, Renee Sebastian, Lisa McLean, Lori McGregor, Jamie Vanbiber and Jill Keith; 20 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.  Mr. Pitre was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Brignac Pitre.  Pallbearers will be James Ricky Sebastian, John Elvin Pitre, John McLean, Johnny McGregor, Craig Vanbiber and Lyle Brignac.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Heart Association.  Visiting hours will be observed from 5 to 9 p.m. today in Greenoaks Funeral Home in Baton Rouge, and at 10 a.m. Thursday until time of services in Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas.

 

Mary Belle Pitre:  The Ville Platte Gazette (Ville Platte, LA), Thursday, 23 August 2007:  Funeral services were held for Mary Belle Ardoin, 88, of Ville Platte, at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Ville Platte at 11 a.m., Monday, August 20.  Burial followed in the Evangeline Memorial Cemetery.  Ms. Ardoin died Saturday, August 18, 2007, at Ville Platte Medical Center.  She was a homemaker and seamstress.  Survivors include one son, Paul Fenerick Ardoina and his wife, Bonnie, of Grand Prairie; three daughters, Charlene Blood of Pine Prairie, Cindy Faye Fontenot and her husband, Donald Lee, of Ville Platte and Linda Reed and her husband, Phillip, of Grand Prairie; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, J. B. 'Bebe' and Louise Soileau Pitre; her husband, Luke J. Ardoin; one son-in-law, James Walter Blood Sr.; and one grandson, James Walter Blood Jr.   LaVille Funeral Home of Ville Platte was in charge of arrangements.
