Obituary:  The Bangor Daily News (Bangor, ME), Wednesday, 20 September 1961:  Jerome J. Peters - Dexter - Jerome J. Peters, 88, died Tuesday morning at a local nursing home.  He was born Sept. 29, 1872 at Rustico, P.E.I., the son of Gilbert and Lucy (Doiron) Peters.  He came to Dexter from North Adams, Mass., about 50 years ago.  Survivors are three sons, Irving of Locust Valley, N.Y., Fred of New Rochelle, N.Y., and Leo Peters of Dexter; two sisters, Mrs. Louise Bryson of Oregon and Mrs. Catherine Holmes of Revere, Mass.; 21 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.  A funeral Mass will be said Thursday at 9 a.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church here by the Rev. Napoleon Madore.  Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

- The Eastern Gazette, 21 September 1961:  A funeral Mass was celebrated this morning, Thursday, at 9 a. m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Dexter, for Jerome J. Peters, 88, who died Tuesday morning at St. Dominic's Nursing Home at Dexter after a period of failing health.  The Rev. Napoleon Madore officiated, and interment was at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter.  He was born Sept. 29, 1872 at Rustico, P. E. I., the son of Gilbert and Lucy (Doiron) Peters.  He came to Dexter from North Andover, Mass., about 50 years ago.  A machinist by trade, he retired in 1945 after having been employed many years by the Fay and Scott Company.  He is survived by three sons, Irving of Locust Valley, N. Y., Fred of New Rochelle, N. Y., and Leo of Dexter; two daughters, Mrs. Louise Bryson of Oregon and Mrs. Catherine Holmes of Revere, Mass., 21 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Obituary:  The Bangor Daily News (Bangor, ME), Tuesday, 24 February 1925:  Death of Mrs. Catherine L. Peters Shocks the Community - Local Notes - Dexter, Feb. 23 - The many friends of Mrs. Catherine LeClair Peters, wife of Jerome Peters of this town were shocked and grieved to learn of her untimely death which occurred early Sunday morning at the Plummer Memorial hospital.  Mrs. Peters was shopping on Saturday evening when stricken with a heart attack, which proved fatal being removed to the office of Dr. Edward Whalen and after to the hospital where the end came.  The deceased was born in Hope River, Prince Edward Island 46 years ago.  When a young woman she was united in marriage to Jerome Peters.  For the past fifteen years she has made her home in this town where she has made a wide circle of friends who will regret her passing.  She was active in the St. Ann's Catholic church of which she was a member also of the Lady Maccabees, Womens Christian Temperance Union and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Edward Pouliott Post of the American Legion.  Besides her husband, Jerome Peters of this town she is survived by six children, Irving, Lucy, Leo, Louise and Catherine of this town and Frederick of New York.  Two sisters Mrs. Arthur Chenette and Mrs. Arthur Bossiau both of Lynn, Mass., and by three brothers, Benjamin LeClair of New York City, Arthur and Theodore of Lynn, Mass.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning from St. Ann's Catholic church, Rev. Fr. T. C. Maney officiating.  The family have the heartfelt sympathy of their many friends in this community.

John Irving Peters:  The Herald American (Syracuse, NY), 18 August 1991:  Irving John ''Nick'' Peters, 89, formerly of Oswego, died Aug. 16 in Towanda, Pa.  A resident of Ulster, Pa., Mr. Peters was a graduate of Oswego State Normal School, New York University and Cornell University.  He served as an industrial arts instructor and later as assistant principal at Locust Valley High School on Long Island.  He retired in 1968.  Survivors include his wife, Catherine; four daughters, Theresa Edwards of Trumbull, Conn., Sheila Kraus of Ulster, Catherine Gates of Whitesboro, and Sister Sean Kathleen Peters C.S.J. of St. Louis; a brother, Leo Peters of Dexter, Me.; two sisters, Louise Bryson of Eugene, Ore., and Catherine Holmes of Revere, Mass.; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday in the Immaculate Conception Church, Ulster, Pa.  Burial at 3 p.m. in St. Peters Cemetery, Oswego.  Arrangements under director of the Bowen-Farr Funeral Home, Ulster.  Family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

 

Frederick Vincent Peters:  Frederick V. Peters, 69, of Dexter died at his Grove Street residence Feb. 4 (1974) after a long illness.  He was born in North Andover, Mass., March 15, 1904, son of Jerome and Catherine (LeClere) Peters.  He was educated in the Andover schools, attended Boston University, Columbia University and New York University.  He was a graduate of the state teachers college, Oswego, N.Y.  He taught for 35 years in the school department of New Rochelle, N.Y.  He retired from teaching in 1964 and has made his home in the Dexter area since that time.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in New Rochelle, was a treasurer of the New Rochelle Teachers Club Credit Union, was a communicant of St. Anne's Catholic Church, Dexter.  He is survived by his widow, Yvonne of Dexter; two sons, Joseph of Marysville, Ohio; one daughter, Mrs. Yvonne Payette of Planation, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; two brothers, Irving of Ulster, Pa., and Leo Peters of Dexter; two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Holmes of Chelsea. Mass., Mrs. Louise Bryson of Florence, Ore.  Funeral services will be held at St. Anne's Catholic Church today (Thursday) at 10 a.m. Rosary was said at the Crosby Funeral Home Wednesday evening.

 

Albert Leo Peters:  The Eastern Gazette, 26 April 1993:  Dexter - Leo A. Peters, 85, died April 19, 1993, at a Dexter nursing home.  He was born June 26, 1907, in North Andover, MA, the son of Jerome and Katherine (LeClair) Peters.  He attended Dexter schools and graduated from NY State Teachers College in Oswego, NY.  He was an industrial arts teacher and a printer.  He was a communicant of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Dexter.  He is survived by his wife, Adelaide (Cinq-Mars) Peters of Dexter; three sons and their wives, Thomas and Edna Peters of Metheun, MA, Richard and Joan Peters of Dexter and James and Evelyn Peters of Andover, MA; a stepdaughter and her husband, Merrill and Mary Alice Boynton of Pittston; a sister, Louise Bryson of Junction City, Oregon; six grandchildren, two step-granddaughters and five great-grandchildren.  A Mass of Christian Burial was held April 22 at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Dexter with the Rev. Marcel Robitaille officiating.  Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter.  Arrangements by Crosby and Neal Funeral Home, Dexter.
