Obituary: Morning Sentinel (Waterville, ME), Friday, 31 May 1957: Fairfield - Mrs. Mary Ernestine Peters Loubier died at the home of her son, Vincent Peters, Thursday morning after several weeks illness. She was born in Beauceville, Que., Can., Dec. 24, 1882 the daughter of Henry and Celena (Busque) Couture. She has been a resident of this town for many years. She was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne. She leaves three sons, Lawrence Peters, Waterville; Gregory Peters, Waterbury, Conn.; Vincent Peters, Fairfield; two daughters, Mrs. Pelgie Freeman, Norwalk, Calif., and Mrs. Marguerite Emery, Fairfield; two stepsons, Maurice Loubier, Fairfield, Clarence Loubier, Hartford, Conn.; three step-daughters, Mrs. Addie Higgins, Winslow; Mrs. Rose Robinson, Waterville and Mrs. Freda Pelletier, Florida. Two sisters, Mrs. Delia Poirier and Mrs. Rose LaRochelle, Fairfield; sixteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The body is at the Lawry Funeral Home where friends may call. Peters, 77, of 10 First Rangeway, died late Monday night at a local hospital shortly after being admitted. He was born in Fairfield, Jan. 13, 1909, son of Gilbert and Mary (Couture) Peters. A lifelong resident of Waterville, he was a 25-year employee of the Waterville Fire Department, retiring in 1969 as a lieutenant. He had also been employed by Hollingsworth & Whitney Co., later Scott Paper Co. A son, Lawrence Peters, was killed in action in Vietnam in 1966. A great-grandson, Nicholas Veilleux, died previously. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Anna (Gurski) Peters of Waterville; two sons, Daniel Peters of Winslow and Gilbert Peters, Waterville; one daughter, Mrs. Louis (Emily) Maroon of Manasses, Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Carroll (Margaret) Emery of Fairfield and Mrs. Pelgia Freeman of Norwock, Calif.; one brother, Vincent C. Peters of Fairfield; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Veilleux Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery.

He has been in ill health for several years. He was born in 1910, the son of the late Gilbert Peters and Mrs. Charles Loubier. He was a graduate of the parochial school. He is survived by three brothers, Lawrence, Vincent, and Gregory and two sisters, Mrs. Carroll Emery of Benton and Miss Plegie Peters of this town.
Joseph Vincent Cornelius Peters: Morning Sentinel (Waterville, ME), Monday, 30 December 1991: (photo) Fairfield - Vincent C. Peters, 80, of 6 Gilbreth St., founder and operator of Peters Gas and Oil Co. here for 35 years, died unexpectedly Saturday in Portland. Prior to establishing that business, he was a long-time service station owner-operator here. Born Sept. 17, 1911, in Waterville, son of Gilbert and Mary (Couture) Peters, he graduated in 1932 Fairfield's Lawrence High School and, in 1935, married Wilma LaVoie. She died in 1968. A World War II veteran who served with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Leyte, he was a member of the National Guard. He was a member and past commander of the Grover-Hinckley American Legion Post here and was also a member of the Fairfield Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post. A member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church here, he was a life member of Waterville Council, Knights of Columbus, and St. Jude League. He served on the town council here and town budget committee and was a Fairfield Fire Department member. He was a member of the School Administrative District 49 board of directors that authorized construction of an elementary school in Fairfield. He served on the first board of directors for the state vocational-technical school in Portland and was a member of the Waterville Regional Vocational-Technical Center board of directors. For 16 years, he served as treasurer for the Fairfield Little League and youth baseball organizations. He was a past president of the Fairfield Kiwanis Club with over 25 years of perfect attendance at its meetings. He was also a member of the New England and International Kiwanis Foundations. For over 30 years, he was a member of the Fairfield Republican Town Committee and served as treasurer of the Somerset County Republican Committee. He served on the Fairfield Industrial Committee and was a Waterville Area Chamber of Commerce, Economic Resources Council of Maine and Central Maine Apartment Owners Association member. For the former Depositors Trust Co., now Key Bank, he served on the Waterville-area advisory board and was a member and past president of Kennebec Water District's board of directors. He served on the Goodwill-Hinckley School board of directors. He was also a member of the Pine Tree Society for Handicapped Children and Adults headquartered in Bath, Boy Scouts of America Alumni Family, Gulf of Maine Aquarium, National Park Service, Radio Parish Church of America, American Red Cross, National Insurance Consumers Organization, Ellis Island Foundation, Special Olympics, and Interdenominational Men's Breakfast Group in Waterville. In 1968, he was presented with Fairfield Jaycees' distinguished service award and, in 1973, with the Lawrence High School Bulldog award by the school's alumni association. Surviving are his wife, Winona Berrie Mullen, whom he married 22 years ago, and a son, James, both of Fairfield; two daughters, Mrs. Emile (Janice) Landry of Oakland and Mrs. James (Janine) Longhran of Fort Wayne, Ind.; two sisters, Mrs. Carroll (Marguerite) Emery of Fairfield and Mrs. Pelegia Freeman of Norwalk, Calif.; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was born Jan. 6, 1914, in Fairfield, Me., the son of Gilbert and Mary (Taylor) Peters. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had been employed by Uniroyal Corp. Surviving are two sons, Gregory Peters Jr., of Torrington, and Dennis Peters of Waterbury, Conn.; a daughter, Nanette Peters of Waterbury; two brothers, Lawrence of Waterville, Me., and Vincent of Fairfield, Me.; a sister, Marguerite Emery, several nieces and nephews. Committal services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Chapel of the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta, Me.

Edith Margaret Peters: Morning Sentinel (Waterville, ME), Thursday, 1 November 2012: Fairfield - Marguerite E. (Peters) Emery, of Fairfield, passed away peacefully at Oak Grove Center in Waterville on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012. Marguerite was born on Aug. 1, 1919, in Fairfield, to Gilbert and Mary Peters, the youngest of six children. She attended Immaculate Heart of Mary School in Fairfield. On April 18, 1936, she married Carroll A. Emery at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, and they attended the church for many years. For several years following her husband's retirement, they delivered Meals on Wheels. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Carroll; her grandson, Eric Emery; her brothers, Lawrence, Vincent, Bernard and Gregory; her sister, Pelgia Freeman; and her sons-in-law, Robert King and Daniel Bacheller. Marguerite is survived by her daughters, Carolyn King, of Lowville, N.Y. and Gail Bacheller, of Clinton; her sons, Richard Emery, of Belgrade Lakes, and Bernard Emery and his wife, Dru, of Glenburn; her grandchildren; great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and very special friends, Theresa Thibodeau and June Sheive. Graveside committal services will take place at the Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.
