Obituary:  The Town Talk (Alexandria, LA), Monday, 28 April 1947:  Oakdale, La., April 28 - Funeral services for Eulese Pitre, 72, of Elton were held at the Catholic church of Elton Saturday with the Rev. Francois officiating.  Interment was made in the Liberty Chano cemetery under the direction of Hargrove Funeral Home of Oakdale.  Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Doris Pitre of Elton; four sons, Elzie Pitre of Kinder; A.J. Pitre of Elton; M.J. Pitre of Welch; and Adras Pitre of Jennings; a daughter, Mrs. Frank Miller of Welch; two brothers, Marues Pitre of Lake Charles; and Artelus Pitre of Kinder; two sisters, Mrs. John Lafleur and Mrs. Valentine Arville, both of Kinder; and 15 grandchildren.

Obituary:  The Eunice News (Eunice, LA), Thursday, 27 August 1953:  Elton, La. - Funeral services were conducted August 16 at four p.m. for Mrs. Doris Langley Pitre at St. Paul's Catholic Church with Rev. William Frantzen officiating, followed by burial in the Liberty cemetery.  Mrs. Pitre had been in poor health for several years.  For eight weeks before her death on Saturday the 15th at four p.m., she had suffered from the effects of a heart attack.  Mrs. Pitre had lived in the Elton Community all of her life.  Pallbearers were: Mitchel Pitre, Adras Pitre, Elza Pitre, Carl Pitre, Fines Pitre, and Murry Langley.  Surviving are three sons, Elza Pitre, Kinder; Mitchel Pitre, Roanoke; Adras Pitre, Jennings; two daughters, Mrs. Frank Miller of Kinder; Mrs. Jim Manuel, Kinder.  Two sisters, Mrs. Armond Manuel, Kinder; Mrs. Augustine Fruge, Elton; two brothers - Abner Langley, Kinder; Bephrien Langley, Elton; 15 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren.

Elzie Joseph Pitre:  Lake Charles American Press (Lake Charles, LA), Friday, 27 March 1964:  Kinder - Funeral services for Elzie J. Pitre, 61, of Route 1, Kinder, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.  Rites will be held from St. Philip Neri Catholic Church with Rev. A.J. Robichaud, pastor, officiating.  Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery near Elton under direction of Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder.  A Rosary will be said at the funeral home at 7 p.m. today.  Mr. Pitre died at 7:15 p.m. Thursday in a Lake Charles hospital.  He was a member of the Catholic church, a farmer and also in the concrete works business.  He was a native of Kinder.  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Loviana M. Pitre; one son, John Sheldon Pitre of LeBlanc; two daughters, Mrs. George Hammonds Jr. of Kinder and Mrs. H.D. Larson of Lake Charles; one brother, Adras P. Pitre of Jennings; one sister, Mrs. Frank Miller of Sulphur, one half-sister, Mrs. Jim Manuel of Kinder; and 10 grandchildren.

Aliuse Joseph Pitre:  Beaumont Journal (TX), Friday, 26 October 1951:  Jennings, La., Oct. 26 - Alius Joseph Pitre, 47, oil salesman of Elton, died at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at his home after an illness of several days.  He was a native and lifelong resident of Elton.  Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist church in Elton by the Rev. E.N. Weaver, with burial at Liberty cemetery directed by Segura funeral home.  Surviving are his wife: son, Carl, of Elton; two daughters, Mrs. E.D. Philpott of Owensville, Ark. and Annette Pitre of Elton; his mother, Mrs. Doris Pitre of Elton; brothers, Elza of Kinder, M.J. of Roanoke and Adras Pitre of Jennings; sisters, Mrs. Frank Miller of Sulphur and Mrs. Jim Manuel of Kinder and one grandchild.

Anthony Pitre:  Beaumont Journal (TX), Wednesday, 17 January 1945:  Sgt. Atney Pitre, 38, is killed on Leyte - Jennings, La., Jan. 17 - Sgt. Atney Pitre of Elton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eulese Pitre, who live several miles south of Elton was killed in action on December 13 on Leyte Island in the Philippines.  Sergeant Pitre who was 38 years of age, was inducted into the army in August, 1942.  He had been in the Pacific area for the past five months.  The sergeant had lived in Elton all his life.  He is survived by his parents; four brothers, A.J. Pitre of Elton, Mitchell Pitre of Welsh, Adras Pitre of Jennings and Elvie Pitre of Kinder, and a sister, Mrs. Frank Miller, of Elton.

 

Mitchell Joseph Pitre:  Lake Charles American Press (Lake Charles, LA), Saturday 22 September 1962:  Roanoke - Funeral services for Mitchell Joseph Pitre, 53, a Roanoke rice farmer and cattleman, were to be held at 3 p.m. today in the Evangelical United Brethren church at Roanoke.  Rev. Alvin Kleinsasser, pastor of the Jennings Evangelical United Brethren church, was to officiate.  Burial was to be in the China cemetery near Elton under direction of the Miguez funeral home Jennings.  Mr. Pitre died suddenly about 10 a.m. Friday shortly after being admitted to the Jennings American Legion hospital.  A native of Elton he had lived at Roanoke since 1938.  Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Leola Hill Pitre; two sons, Wayne and Donald Pitre, both of Roanoke; one daughter, Miss Lina Pitre, a student at Louisiana college; two brothers, E.J. Pitre of Kinder and Adras Pitre of Jennings; one sister, Mrs. Frank Miller of Sulpher; one half-sister, Mrs. James Manuel of Kinder, and one grandchild.
