Obituary:  Beaumont Journal (TX), Friday, 26 October 1951:  Jennings, La., Oct. 26 - Alius Joseph Pitre, 47, oil salesman of Elton, died at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at his home after an illness of several days.  He was a native and lifelong resident of Elton.  Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist church in Elton by the Rev. E.N. Weaver, with burial at Liberty cemetery directed by Segura funeral home.  Surviving are his wife: son, Carl, of Elton; two daughters, Mrs. E. D. Philpott of Owensville, Ark. and Annette Pitre of Elton; his mother, Mrs. Doris Pitre of Elton; brothers, Elza of Kinder, M. J. of Roanoke and Adras Pitre of Jennings; sisters, Mrs. Frank Miller of Sulphur and Mrs. Jim Manuel of Kinder and one grandchild.

Obituaries for the children:

Madelyn I. Pitre:  Madelyn Philpot Green, age 85, of Mena, died Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at the Rich Mountain Nursing and Rehab in Mena.  She was born at home on June 16, 1927, weighing only between two and three pounds, to Aliuse Joseph and Lucinda Bertrand Pitre in Elton, Louisiana.  Madelyn was a Christian and lived her life by His standards.  It was very important to her that her children grew up following The Lord's Will for their lives.  At 18 she fell in love with, and married, 'her pastor,' remaining married to him until he passed away in 1982; then in 1999 she married for the second time marrying 'the love of her life,' her second husband.  During the time she was raising her family, she made all their clothes, cooked three good meals a day, baked homemade bread, canned garden vegetables and prepared desserts from scratch; not-to-mention, while keeping an immaculate house.  In her 'spare time,' she was a self-taught hair stylist to her husband, son, four daughters and herself.  Later in life she worked outside of the home as the office manager for a dentist in Mer Rouge, Louisiana and later as an associate librarian in Missouri City, Texas.  Madelyn was an excellent alto singer and taught herself to play the piano.  She had a talent for working with her hands whether it was with fabric, crochet or embroidery.  She also wrote poems, some of which were published in our local Mountain Signal and in the Baptist Home Life magazine, etc.  Madelyn, formerly a member of the Williams Trace Baptist Church of Sugarland, Texas, became a member of the First Baptist Church of Mena after moving here in 2009.  She dearly loved her large extended family and friends and will be missed by all who knew her.  Madelyn was preceded in death by her father, Aliuse Joseph Pitre; her mother, Lucinda Bertrand Pitre Tupper; her step-father, Henry A. Tupper; her first husband, the Reverend Euel V. Philpot, her second husband, Major Albert B. Green; one son, Warren Burke Philpot and her sister, Annette L. Pitre.  She is survived by her son, Len Alyn Philpot and wife, Annette of Pineville, Louisiana; four daughters and three son-in-laws, Carolyn and John Horn of Lenexa, Kansas, Janalyn Philpot-Aulds and husband, Gus Aulds of Mena, Sheralyn and Phillip Miller of Humble, Texas and Rondalyn Baker of Meadows Place, Texas; two step-sons, Wayne Green and wife Lisa of Henderson, Nevada and Tony Green of Cincinnati, Ohio; three step-daughters, Sandra Finley of Texarkana, Arkansas, Gay Tuttle of Houston, Texas and Elizabeth Moore and husband Keith of Houston, Texas; one brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Delores Pitre of Elton, Louisiana; six grandchildren, Katherine Kerr of Long Island, New York, James Horn of Wathena, Kansas, Lauren Evangelista of Kansas City, Kansas, Evan Baker of San Diego, California, Alex Baker of Meadows Place, Texas, and Rachel Philpot of Pineville, Louisiana; numerous great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.  Funeral Services will be Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at the Cherry Hill Baptist Church with Brother Dink Doss and Janalyn Philpot-Aulds officiating.  Interment will follow in the Cherry Hill Cemetery under the direction of Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena.  A visitation will be Friday, April 12, 2013 from 6-8 P.M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mena.  Pallbearers will be Len Philpot, John Horn, Gus Aulds, Phillip Miller, Tony Green and John Standifer.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ninth Street Ministries, Mena, Arkansas.

 

Carl Aden Pitre:  Funeral services for Mr. Carl Aden Pitre, 81, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 5, 2015 in the First Baptist Church of Elton with Bros. Dore Langley, Pat Thomas and Jake Crowell officiating.  Burial will be in the China Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings.  Visitation will be in the funeral home Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.; and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services.  Mr. Pitre died at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 3, 2015 in the Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jennings.  Mr. Pitre was a lifelong resident of Elton and was owner of a dry cleaning business.  He was a Godly man, devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.  He leaves behind a legacy with the Sign Shop, Real Tailors and Cleaners and with his school bus route.  He had a God given talent, a good business man and a love for children.  He is survived by his wife, Deloris Pitre of Elton; two daughters, Lori Hanks and husband Philip of Buna, Texas, Shawn Nichols and husband Scott of Pineville; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Alias and Lucinda Bertrand Pitre; and two sisters, Madelyn Philpot Greene and Annette Pitre.

Annette L. Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), 29 August 2001:  Elton - Funeral services for Annette Pitre, 65, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, in First Baptist Church.  Brother Jake Crowell will officiate.  Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home.  Visitation is 5-10 p.m. today in the funeral home and from 8 a.m. Thursday in the church.  Ms. Pitre died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001, in her residence.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Elton.  Survivors include one brother, Carl Pitre of Elton; and one sister, Mrs. Madelyn Philpot Green of Houston.
