Obituary:  Agriculturist, 27 January 1927:  Mr. Eusebe Peters the oldest and a most respected resident of Fortune Cove, passed away at his home there on New Years morning at the age of 92.  The late Mr. Peters was born in Rustico, but lived in Fortune Cove for a great many years.  He was a thrifty and kind-hearted gentleman and in spite of his advanced years remained active until a short time before his death.  He leaves to mourn a sorrowing widow, four daughters and three sons.  The daughters are all married and away from home, one daughter and one son in the United States; one daughter in Miminigash and two daughters in Bloomfield; two sons Albert in the old homestead and Bennett in Bloomfield.  The funeral service was held on Monday, January 3rd, 1927 at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, Bloomfield, Rev. J. D. Gaudet officiating at church and grave.  The pallbearers were Colo Arsenault, Joseph Peters, John Hogan, F. Gallant, Paul Gallant, Prosper Perry.  Rest in Peace.  [contributed by Bob McDevitt]

John Baptist Peters:  Sun Journal (Lewiston, ME), Wednesday, 27 January 1954:  Mexico - John B. Peters, 66, died Monday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Joseph A. Arsenault, 44 Middle Ave., with whom he had made his home.  He was born Feb. 11, 1887, P.E.I., son of Eusebius and Philomene Wedge Peters.  A former millwright at Oxford Paper Co., he retired three years ago.  He had been a resident of Mexico more than 30 years.  He was a member of Holy Name Society, K. of C., and A. G. Barry Council, K. of C.  Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Joseph A. Arsenault, Mrs. Wilfred Doherty, both of Mexico, and Mrs. Sylvio Morneau, Biddeford; a brother, Albert Peters, Bloomfield, P.E.I.; two sisters, Mrs. Leon Peters, Bloomfield, and Mrs. John J. Arsenault, Providence, R.I., seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

 

Joanne d'Arc Pitre:  Charlottetown Guardian (PEI), Tuesday, 6 September 1949:  In Memoriam - Mrs. Benjamin L. Arsenault - The communities of Howlan and Woodstock, were very deeply grieved on Tuesday morning Aug. 23rd when it became known that the Angel of Death had visited the district at midnight and claimed for its own the soul of Mrs. Ben L. Arsenault at the age of 71 years.  Mrs. Arsenault had been ill all last winter, having been quite a while in Western Hospital where all the best that medical aid could do was done for her.  Later in the spring she was removed to her home where she again received careful attention by her doctor and devoted husband and family but all to no avail and on above date her spirit gently winged its way back to its Redeemer.  During her illness she was very often visited by her beloved pastor the Rev. Fr. Rooney who administered to her the last holy rites of the Catholic Church of which she had always been a very devout member.  Her family were all by her bedside but her eldest son Joseph when she passed away but he arrived in time for her funeral.  Besides her sorrowing husband she is survived by the following sons and daughters, Joseph and Alban of Providence, R.I., Robert of St. John, N.B., and Eusebe on the homestead, (Judith), Mrs. Rae Griffin of Tignish, (Marion) Mrs. Harvey Murphy of Alberton, (Laurette) Mrs. Melvin Gallant of Coleman, also the following sisters and brothers, Mrs. John J. Arsenault, Providence, R.I., Mrs. Leon Peters of Bloomfield, Bennett Peters, of Bloomfield, Albert Peters of Fortune Cove and John Peters of Rumford, Me., besides quite a number of grandchildren whom she loved dearly and who will cherish happy memories of their dear grandmother.  Her funeral which was largely attended was held on Friday morning from St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church.  Rev. Fr. Rooney celebrated her Funeral Mass and also officiated at the grave where all that was mortal of a devoted wife and loving mother was tenderly laid to rest there to await a glorious resurrection beside her beloved parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Eusebe Peters, also her sister, (Rose) Mrs. Gallant who predeceased her.  Her pallbearers were, Robert Gallant, Wm. Shield, Peter Gallant, Leo and Bert Peters and Lawrence Peters.  May her soul rest in peace.  Floral tributes were:- Wreath: Husband and family. Spray: Son Joseph. Marie Rose Pitre:  Charlottetown Guardian (PEI), Monday, 18 October 1948: The sympathy of the community goes out to Mr. Ben Peters and Mrs. Leon Peters, brother and sister of Mrs. Rose Gallant, whose death took place in Alberton Hospital on Saturday the 2nd inst.  Funeral services were held in St. Anthony's Church Monday the 4th.

Sophique Pitre:  Mrs. John J. Arsenault - Mrs. Sophia E. (Peters) Arsenault, 84, formerly of Glenham Street, died yesterday in the Holy Trinity Home, Pawtucket, after a one-year illness.  She was the widow of John J. Arsenault.  Born in Prince Edward Island, Canada, she lived in Providence for 35 years.  She is survived by three sons, Joseph A. Arsenault of Meriden, Conn., James R. Arsenault of Providence and Francis L. Arsenault of Warwick; three daughters, Sister Mary Joan of Arc, F.M.M., of Yokahama, Japan, and Mrs. Martina L. Vigneau and Mrs. Walter Swider, both of Warwick; a brother, Albert Peters in Canada; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  The funeral will be held Friday at 6 a.m. from the James J. Gallegly and Sons Funeral Home, 671 Broad St., with a requiem Mass in the Holy Trinity Home Chapel on Main Street, Pawtucket, at 7 a.m.  Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, in Rumford, Maine.
