- Cape Breton land petitions, Year 1822: Ralph Peters & John Gautereau: Petition to Kempt:  Ralph Peters is a native of Prince Edward Island, age 29, is married and has two children. He asks a lot adjoining Joseph d'Orient, on the north side of Ball's Creek. John Gautereau, a native of the Island of Miquelon, age 45, is married.

Obituaries for the children:

Christine Pitre:  Charlottetown Guardian (PEI), Saturday, 11 October 1913: The Late Mrs. Peters - The death occurred on Monday, after a short illness of Mrs. Maurice Peters, at the advanced age of 88 years.  Deceased was a native of Rustico, but with her husband removed to Summerside in 1866 where she has since resided. T here are left to mourn besides her husband, now in his 85th year, three sons and two daughters.  The funeral took place yesterday morning at nine o'clock to the R. C. Cemetery and was largely attended.

 

Eusebe Pitre:  Agriculturist, 27 January 1927:  Mr. Eusebe Peters the oldest and a most respected resident of Fortune Cove, passed away at his home there on New Years morning at the age of 92.  The late Mr. Peters was born in Rustico, but lived in Fortune Cove for a great many years.  He was a thrifty and kind-hearted gentleman and in spite of his advanced years remained active until a short time before his death.  He leaves to mourn a sorrowing widow, four daughters and three sons.  The daughters are all married and away from home, one daughter and one son in the United States; one daughter in Miminigash and two daughters in Bloomfield; two sons Albert in the old homestead and Bennett in Bloomfield.  The funeral service was held on Monday, January 3rd, 1927 at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, Bloomfield, Rev. J. D. Gaudet officiating at church and grave.  The pallbearers were Colo Arsenault, Joseph Peters, John Hogan, F. Gallant, Paul Gallant, Prosper Perry.  Rest in Peace.  [contributed by Bob McDevitt]

Aged Resident Dead - Mr. Euseb Peters, the oldest citizen of Fortune Cove, passed away at his home there on New Year's morning, at the age of 92 years.  The  late Mr. Peters was born in Rustico, but has lived in Fortune Cove for a great many years.  He was a thrifty and respected citizen and in spite of his advanced age, remained active until a short time before his death.  He leaves to mourn a sorrowing widow, four daughters and two sons.  The daughters are all married and away from home, two living in the United States, one in Miminigash, and one in Bloomfield.  The sons are Benjamin in Bloomfield and Albert at home.  The funeral service was held on Monday morning, Jan. 3rd at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church, Bloomfield.

 

Gelase Pitre:  There passed peacefully to his Eternal Rest on Sunday morning last, January 6th, at the home of his daughter Mrs. Charles Arsenault, one of Summerside's oldest and most respected residents in the person of Mr. Jelos Peters, aged 87 years.  The deceased was a native of Rustico and in his early life taught school for a number of years in this Province and also in the Province of Quebec.  Fifty-six years ago he came to Summerside and undertook the management of a limekiln on Upper Central Street for the late Mr. Harry Green, then Postmaster.  Mr. Peters also engaged in fishing and was a man who could put his hand to any useful work, and whose character was that of a man of honor and integrity.  There are left to cherish his memory out of a family of ten children, four daughters and three sons as follows: Mrs. Peter Arsenault, and Mrs. Jas. Gallant, of Auburn, Maine, Miss Minnie, in Boston and Mrs. Chas. Arsenault, Summerside; Benjamin in Halifax, and James and Peter in Boston, to all of whom the deep sympathy of a wide circle of friends is extended.  The funeral took place on Tuesday to St. Paul's Church and cemetery, being largely attended, Rev. Urban Gillis being the officiating priest.
