Obituary: Charlottetown Guardian (PEI), Friday, 14 December 1951: A gloom of sadness was cast over the community of Bloomfield on Sunday, December 2nd, by the sudden passing of Bennett Peters at his home. Although the deceased had been in failing health for the past month, his death was unexpected. He was born April 17, 1872, at Fortune Cove, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Eusebe Peters. He will be sadly missed by his sorrowing wife, family relatives and many friends. There are left to mourn their loss, his wife, the former Mary Arsenault, a son, Lawrence, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Joseph T. Gallant (Phoebe) of Upper Howlan and Mrs. David LaCouture (Margaret) of Brockton, Mass.; two brothers, Albert of Fortune Cove and John of Mexico, Maine; two sisters, Mrs. Leon Peters (Josephine) of Bloomfield, and Mrs. John J. Arsenault (Sophia) of Providence, R.I.; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The funeral, which was very largely attended, took place from the family residence at St. Anthony's Church on Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. The pall bearers were: Bert Peters, Earl Stewart, Reginald McAusland, Jerry Peters, Peter Gallant and Eusebe Arsenault.
- Charlottetown Guardian (PEI), Monday, 17 December 1951: Many from Howlan wended their way to Bloomfield to pay their last respects to a dear friend by attending the wake and funeral of the late Bennet Peters whose death occurred at his home on Sunday, December 2. The late Mr. Peters was the victim of a stroke a short time ago from which he did rally. His funeral service and burial were held at St. Anthony's R.C. Church on Wednesday, December 5, the Rev. Fr. Rooney, pastor, officiating.
- Charlottetown Guardian (PEI), Monday, 17 December 1951: Mrs. Joseph T. Gallant of Forest View district recently spent a few days at her parents' home in Bloomfield during the illness and death of her father, the late Mr. Bennett Peters.
