Obituary:  Kennebec Journal (Augusta, ME), Wednesday, 1 March 1916:  Stephen Peters died Monday night at the home of his son, 68 Harrison avenue, aged 68 years.  He was born in Prince Edward Island and was a bricklayer by trade.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday forenoon at 9 o'clock from Saint Joseph's Church.

Obituary:  Kennebec Journal (Augusta, ME), Tuesday, 16 July 1901:  Gudia Peters died at her home on Maple street, Monday morning, the result of a complication of diseases with old age.  She was 62 years old.  The funeral will be held from St. Joseph's Catholic church, at 9 o'clock this morning.

Firmin Pitre:  Kennebec Journal (Augusta, ME), Tuesday, 4 January 1938:  Freeman Peters died yesterday at the home of his sister, Mrs. Moses Thebeault, Pittston, where he has been making his home since the death of his son, Frank Peters, two weeks ago.  He was a resident of Gardiner for 38 years.  He was born December 21, 1857, in Rustico, Prince Edward Island, the son of Steven and Judith Gallant Peters.  He was the husband of the late Mary L. Splude Peters.  He is survived by two sons, Manuel J. Peters, Haverhill, Mass., and John Peters, Pittston; four daughters, Mrs. Alice Bates, Auburn, Mrs. Emma Dill, Gardiner, Mrs. Josephine McCourtney, Augusta, and Miss Evelyn Peters, Hebron; three brothers, Gilbert Peters, St. Johns, New Brunswick, Joseph Peters, Duluth, Michigan and John Peters, Gardiner; two sisters, Mrs. Moses Thibeault, Pittston and Mrs. Dennis Bishop, Litchfield; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  Funeral services will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Church Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock.

Edesse 'Edith' Pitre:  Kennebec Journal (Augusta, ME), Friday, 22 February 1935:  The death of Mrs. Edith Peters Noel, 73, occurred early Thursday evening at her home on West street.  She had been ill for the past two months.  She was born in Prince Edwards Island and moved to Gardiner 35 years ago.  She was the daughter of Steven Peters and Mary Gallant.  She leaves three sons, Joseph of Gardiner, James of Skowhegan, and Charles W. of South Gardiner; four daughters, Mrs. Emma Annis, South Gardiner, Mrs. Eliza Morrell, Gardiner, Mrs. Agnes Fitzgerald, Augusta, and Mrs. Catherine Minot, Worcester, Mass.; four brothers, Freeman Peters, Gardiner, Gilbert Peters, St. John, N.B., Joseph Peters, Minneapolis, Minn., John Peters, Gardiner; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Thibault, Gardiner, Mrs. Elizabeth Bishop, Litchfield, and one great-grandson.  She was a member of the St. Josephs' women's club.  Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9 o'clock from St. Joseph's church.

Marie Pitre:  Kennebec Journal (Augusta, ME), Wednesday, 4 November 1925:  Mrs. Mary Curry passed away at her home, 55 Middle street Tuesday forenoon after an illness of two weeks.  Mrs. Curry was born in Canada, Oct. 19, 1866, and was the daughter of Stephen and Judea (Gallant) Peters.  Besides her husband, Thomas Curry, she is survived by four sons, Arthur, Edward and Richard Doucette of Gardiner and Frank Doucette of Hallowell; four brothers, John, Freeman and Joseph Peters of Gardiner and Gilbert Peters of Canada; three sisters, Mrs. Moses Tebo, Gardiner, Mrs. James Noel, Gardiner and Mrs. Dennis Bishop, Litchfield.  The funeral will be held from St. Joseph's church, Thursday at 9:30 A.M.

Philomene 'Lizzie' Pitre:  The Lewiston Daily Sun (Lewiston, ME), Thursday, 5 September 1957:  Gardiner - Mrs. Elizabeth P. Bishop, 82, died at her home on Cobbossee Ave. early Sunday morning, after being in failing health for several months.  She was born in New Brunswick, July 5, 1975, the daughter of Steven and Judith Peters.  Surviving is her husband, Dennis Bishop; two sons, Arthur W. Bishop Sr., Gardiner, and George P. Bishop, North Turner; three daughters, Mrs. Earl Chase, Augusta; Mrs. Anthony Mirra, Boston; and Mrs. Roy Brown, Augusta; a brother, Joseph Peters of Duluth, Minn.; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Gilbert Pitre:  Saint John Times Globe (St. John, NB), Saturday, 22 January 1938:  Many friends will regret to learn of the death of Gilbert Peters which occurred on Friday morning at the General Hospital.  Mr. Peters had been in failing health for the last two years and was seriously ill for a month.  He was born in Prince Edward Island, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Peters, and came to Saint John 22 years ago.  He resided at 20 Hanover Street, and was a member of the Cathedral parish.  Besides his wife he is survived by one son, Ernest, New York City; five daughters - Mrs. John McCarthy, Mrs. James Kemp, Miss Mary Peters, Miss Georgina Peters and Miss Hilda Peters, all of Saint John, two brothers, John Peters, Gardiner, Me., and Joseph, of western Canada, and two sisters, Mrs. Moses Thibideau, and Mrs. Denis Bishop, both of Gardiner.  The funeral will be held on Monday morning at 8 o'clock from O'Neill's Funeral Home to the Cathedral for high mass of requiem at 8:15 o'clock.  Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.   

 

Etienne Jean Baptiste Pitre:  Kennebec Journal (Augusta, ME), Thursday, 21 April 1949:  Gardiner - John B. Peters, 86, died suddenly at his Harrison Avenue home Wednesday afternoon.  He was born August 27, 1880, at Petit Rocher, N.B., and was the son of Stephen and Judith Gallant Peters.  He is survived by two sons, Albert J. and Lawrence J. of Gardiner; three daughters, Mrs. Fred Thornton of Gardiner, Mrs. Carl Purdy of Gardiner and Mrs. Langdon Wilson of Bethlehem, Penn.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild, a brother Joseph of Clougett, Minn., a sister, Mrs. Dennis Bishop of Gardiner and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was a member of the LOOM and had been employed at the S. D. Warren Paper Company for 43 years.  Funeral mass will be from St. Joseph's Catholic Church at 9 o'clock Saturday morning.  Friends may call at his Harrison Avenue home.
