Obituary:  Saint John Times Globe (St. John, NB), Saturday, 22 January 1938:  Many friends will regret to learn of the death of Gilbert Peters which occurred on Friday morning at the General Hospital.  Mr. Peters had been in failing health for the last two years and was seriously ill for a month.  He was born in Prince Edward Island, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Peters, and came to Saint John 22 years ago.  He resided at 20 Hanover Street, and was a member of the Cathedral parish.  Besides his wife he is survived by one son, Ernest, New York City; five daughters - Mrs. John McCarthy, Mrs. James Kemp, Miss Mary Peters, Miss Georgina Peters and Miss Hilda Peters, all of Saint John, two brothers, John Peters, Gardiner, Me., and Joseph, of western Canada, and two sisters, Mrs. Moses Thibideau, and Mrs. Denis Bishop, both of Gardiner.  The funeral will be held on Monday morning at 8 o'clock from O'Neill's Funeral Home to the Cathedral for high mass of requiem at 8:15 o'clock.  Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Obituary:  Saint John Times Globe (St. John, NB), Saturday, 15 December 1956:  Ill for the last five months, Mrs. Mary Rebecca Peters, 18 Clarence Street, widow of Gilbert Peters, died early last evening at St. Mary's Nursing Home, 79 Orange Street.  She was in her 85th year.  Born at Green Point, Gloucester County, the daughter of the late Joseph and Angela (Boudreau) Legace, she had been a resident of Saint John for the last 42 years.  Mrs. Peters was a member of the Cathedral Parish and when her health permitted took an active part in church affairs.  Her husband died some 20 years ago.  Surviving are a son, Ernest Peters, New York, N.Y.; three daughters, Mrs. James Kemp and Mrs. Stanley Crawford of Saint John and Mrs. Michael Cowan, Toronto, Ont.; eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren.  The funeral will be held on Monday morning at 9:45 o'clock from O'Neill's Funeral Home to the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception for high mass of requiem at 10.  Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Mary Bertha Pitre:  Saint John Times Globe (St. John, NB), Wednesday, 23 October 1935:  Miss Bertha Peters, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Peters, Saint John, died at the Saint John Tuberculosis Hospital yesterday, leaving five sisters and one brother.  The sisters are Mrs. John McCarty and Misses Georgina, Mary, Elizabeth and Hilda Peters, all of Saint John.  One brother, Ernest, lives in the United States.  The funeral will be held from her late residence, 22 Pond Street, details to be announced later.

 

Mary Catherine Pitre:  Telegraph Journal (St. John, NB), Thursday, 7 July 1949:  McCarthy - At St. Joseph's Hospital on July 4, 1949, Catherine McCarthy, wife of Josh S. McCarthy and daughter of Mary and the late Gilbert Peters, leaving to mourn her husband, mother, one brother and four sisters.  Resting at Garvin's Funeral Home, from where the funeral will be held on Thursday morning at 8:45 to St. Peter's Church for solemn high mass of requiem at 1 o'clock.  Interment in St. Joseph's cemetery.

 

Mary Jane Pitre:  Telegraph Journal (St. John, NB), Friday, 24 March 1950:  Peters - At the Saint John Tuberculosis Hospital, on March 21, 1950, Mary Peters, daughter of Mrs. Mary (Lagace) Peters and the late Gilbert Peters, survived by her mother, one brother and three sisters.  Resting at Garvin's Funeral Home, from where the funeral will be held on Friday morning at 8:30 to St. Joachim's Church, Silver Falls, for high mass of requiem at 9 o'clock.  Interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

 

Mary Eugenia (Elizabeth) Pitre:  Saint John Times Globe (St. John, NB), Monday, 26 September 1988:  Kemp - At St. Joseph's Hospital, on Thursday, September 22, 1988, Mrs. Elizabeth M. (Pitre) Kemp of Stevenson Tower, wife of the late James Walter Kemp; survived by two sons, James W., of Saint John, Gerald F., of Fredericton, two daughters, Judy (Mrs. Walter Ellis) of Saint John, Elizabeth (Mrs. Hart Steeves) of Ottawa, one sister, Hilda (Mrs. Kenneth Crawford), of Saint John, nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews.  Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, from where the funeral will be held, on Monday at 10:15 a.m., to St. Peter's Church, Clarendon Street, where funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m.  Cremation will take place at Fernhill Cemetery, interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery.  Visiting 2-4, 7-9 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.

 

Mary Matilda Pitre:  St. John Times Globe (St. John, NB), Tuesday, 30 March 1993:  Crawford - At. St. Joseph's Hospital on March 27, 1993, Marie M. Crawford, of 33 Smythe Street Saint John, wife of Kenneth S. Crawford.  Survived by her husband, two daughters Shirley Reed of Ontario and Ethel Mason of Saint John, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  Resting at the Castle Funeral Home (Hillsley) from where the funeral will be held on Tuesday at 2:00p.m.  Interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery.  Visiting hours 2-4 and 7-9 Monday.
