Obituary: La Gazette (QUE), Thursday, 19 December 1957: It is with regret that we learned of the mother of Alderman Martin Pitre de Beauharnois, who died last Friday, at the age of 92, in Lemieux, Ontario. The funeral service was sung by Miss Ernest Denis, last Monday, December 16, at 10:00 o'clock in the morning, in the middle of a great help of relatives and friends, in the parish church. The funeral song was performed by the Casselman choir. The porters were all grandchildren of the deceased: Urgel, Aurele, Denis, Reynald, Emile and Charles Pitre. Interment took place in the parish cemetery, Lemieux, Ontario. The deceased leaves to mourn her loss six boys: Messrs. Eusebe, Josephat, Gedeon, of Cornwall, Godfroy and Napoleon of Lemieux, Ontario and Ernestine of Cornwall; her daughters-in-law: Mrs Eusebe Pitre, nee Rachel Dore, Mrs Josephat Pitre, nee Anges Boileau, Mrs Gedeon Pitre, nee Emilia Carriere, Mrs Godfroy Pitre, nee Bertha Denis, Mrs Napoleon Pitre, nee Lea, Mrs Martin Pitre, nee Josephine Leblanc; her brothers-in-law: Mr. Johnny Ryan of Ste-Justine, Mr. Hector Denis of Lemieux, Ontario and Mr. Adelard Chaplin of Cornwall, as well as 47 grandchildren, 134 great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, forming the grand total of 178. The family sincerely thanks all the people who showed them expressions of sympathy on the occasion of the death of Mrs. Eusebe Pitre, either by mass offerings, floral tributes, telegrams, visits or attendance at the funeral.

She is survived by 2 sons: Lucien of Lemieux, Ernest of Sudbury; 2 daughters: Mrs. Gilbert Warren (Antoinette), Mrs. Ernest Russo (Marie-Anne) both of Ottawa; 2 brothers: Gedeon of Casselman; Martin of Beauharnois, Quebec; as well as 25 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Funeral direction entrusted to Lafleur & Robert, Casselman.
