Obituary: La Gazette (QUE), Thursday, 19 December 1957: It is with regret that we learned of the mother of Alderman Martin Pitre de Beauharnois, who died last Friday, at the age of 92, in Lemieux, Ontario. The funeral service was sung by Miss Ernest Denis, last Monday, December 16, at 10:00 o'clock in the morning, in the middle of a great help of relatives and friends, in the parish church. The funeral song was performed by the Casselman choir. The porters were all grandchildren of the deceased: Urgel, Aurele, Denis, Reynald, Emile and Charles Pitre. Interment took place in the parish cemetery, Lemieux, Ontario. The deceased leaves to mourn her loss six boys: Messrs. Eusebe, Josephat, Gedeon, of Cornwall, Godfroy and Napoleon of Lemieux, Ontario and Ernestine of Cornwall; her daughters-in-law: Mrs Eusebe Pitre, nee Rachel Dore, Mrs Josephat Pitre, nee Anges Boileau, Mrs Gedeon Pitre, nee Emilia Carriere, Mrs Godfroy Pitre, nee Bertha Denis, Mrs Napoleon Pitre, nee Lea, Mrs Martin Pitre, nee Josephine Leblanc; her brothers-in-law: Mr. Johnny Ryan of Ste-Justine, Mr. Hector Denis of Lemieux, Ontario and Mr. Adelard Chaplin of Cornwall, as well as 47 grandchildren, 134 great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, forming the grand total of 178. Marie Ernestine Pitre: Standard Freeholder (Cornwall, ONT), Monday, 20 November 1961: Mrs. Adelard Chatelain died Sunday evening at the Hotel Dieu Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was 61 years old. Mrs. Chatelain lived at 233 Prince Albert street Cornwall. She was the former Ernestine Pitre, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Esube Pitre, of Lemieux, Ont. She came to Cornwall 30 years ago. She was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne of Nativity Church. She is survived by her husband, Adelard Chatelain and one sister, Mrs. Hector Dore of Lemieux, Ont. She also leaves six brothers. They are Gedeon Pitre, Esube Pitre and Joseph Pitre of Cornwall, Napoleon and Goffrey Pitre of Lemieux and Martin Pitre in Beauharnois, Que. Funeral services will be held from the Bonneville Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 22, to Nativity Church. Service will be at 10 a.m. with burial in Nativity cemetery.
