Obituary: Detroit Free Press (MI), Tuesday, 28 August 1923: Monroe, Mich., Aug. 27 - The funeral of Albert Pete, 50 years old, Erie fisherman, who died from gas asphyxiation in a motor boat while on Lake Erie last Thursday will be held Wednesday morning from St. Joseph's church in the village of Erie, 12 miles south of here. Harvey Monimee, 28 years old, companion of Pete, is in critical condition at his home in Erie township. He was burned in the explosion.

Friends may call after 7 tonight at the Clark H. Ford and Son Funeral Home, Rockwood, where the rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home and at 10 in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rockwood. The Rev. Thomas M. Sauter will officiate and burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Erie. The son of Albert and Laura Pete, he was born July 29, 1895, at Erie. Surviving are three brothers, Floyd of Williamsburg, Russell of Holiday, Fla., and Vern of Oregon; three sisters, Mrs. Arthur (Esther) Schuler of Holiday, Fla., Mrs. Harold (Beulah) Babcock of Alabama and Mrs. Richard (Naomi) Linley of Fort Wayne, Ind., and several nieces and nephews in Monroe County.

She was originally from Michigan and moved to this area five and one-half years ago. She is survived by a son, Raymond Zimmerman, Cape Coral, Fla.; a daughter, Laura B. Morden, Lecanto; two brothers, Floyd Pete and Russell Pete; a sister, Naomi Lindly; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Services were held Monday at Fountains Memorial Park, Homosassa.

Thomas Augustus Pete: Toledo Blade (Toledo, OH), Thursday, 15 May 1913: In plain view of their mother, who stood watching them from the door of her home on the shore Wednesday afternoon, Thomas and Albert Pete, aged 16 and 8 respectively, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Pete, living on Bay creek, near where the stream empties into the lake 1 1/2 miles south of Toledo Beach, were drowned. Their playmate, Arthur Benore, 10, met a similar fate when the duckboat, in which all three were fishing capsized in the lake half a mile from shore. John Benore, 14-year-old brother of Arthur Benore, the only other occupant of the boat, saved himself by clinging to the bottom of the craft until he was rescued by Mrs. Pete, who went to his assistance in a rowboat. The Benore boy lives with his parents on the Erie road near the Toledo Beach line, two miles south of Toledo Beach. The Toledo police were notified and Motor Patrolman Tibbles, by order of Safety Director Mooney, started with grappling hooks to search for the bodies. Tibbles, assisted by several men, recovered the three bodies in seven feet of water. The bodies were taken to the Pete home, where physicians made a futile attempt to revive the drowned boys with a Rail-Light Pulmotor. Drs. C. M. Harpster and Frank L. Klopfenstein, who had hurried with the pulmotor on a special car to the Pete home, worked with the machine for more than an hour. The four boys started in the boat on a fishing trip and had been out on the lake for more than an hour when a large wave, according to the rescued boy, struck the side of the boat and capsized it. Bert Pete, father of the drowned brothers, is a fisherman employed by the Toledo Fish Co. The father of the Benore boys is also a fisherman.

The funeral will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church in Scottsboro with the Rev. Liam Sullivan officiating. The body will be cremated. Floyd Liguori Pete: Floyd L. Pete Sr., died Jan. 19, 1991 - Williamsburg - Floyd L. Pete Sr., 83, of Williamsburg, died Saturday at Grand Traverse Community Hospital in Traverse City. A resident of Williamsburg since 1964, he was a retired farmer and electrical contractor. He had lived for many years in Newport, where he was a former member of the Swan Boat Club, the Newport Volunteer Fire Department and St. Charles Catholic Church. He belonged to Worker Council No. 7419 Knights of Columbus and St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, both in Kalkaska. Born in Erie on Aug. 9, 1907, he was the son of Albert and Laura (Russeau) Pete. On March 1, 1926, in Trenton, he married the former Bertha Droulliard, who died in 1988. Surviving are two sons, Floyd L. Pete Jr. of Monroe and Hartwell Pete of San Clemente, Calif.; three daughters, Joy Revard of Carlton, Patricia Kleine of Sturgis and Cheryle Shinaver of Sterling Heights; a brother, Russell Pete of South Rockwood; a sister, Naomi Lindly of Fort Wayne, Ind.; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church. The Rev. Patrick Barrett will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary of the Woods Cemetery, Barker Creek. Friends may visit until 9 tonight at Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska, where a rosary will be recited at 7:30 tonight. He was born August 9, 1912 at Erie, Michigan and was united in marriage to his wife, Irene, in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1963. He was a veteran of World War II; a member of the Eagles Lodge; a past President of the Triangle Lake Grange. She was born on Dec. 28, 1915, in Erie, Mich. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Indianapolis. She had participated in various bowling leagues in Fort Wayne and loved to fish. She previously ran a day care business out of her home in Fort Wayne. She is survived by her daughter, Sister Carol Lindly of Terre Haute. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Madison Lindly Sr.; and son, Richard Madison Lindly Jr. Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at Church of the Immaculate Conception in St. Mary-of-the-Woods, with visitation from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday.
