Daniel Albert Pete: The Monroe Evening News (Monroe, MI), Friday, 11 November 1983: Newport - Daniel Pete, 53, of Newport died of cancer at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in his home. He had been ill since June. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Saturday in the Clark H. Ford and Son Funeral Home, Rockwood. Services will be at 9:15 a.m. Monday in the funeral home and at 10 in St. Charles Catholic Church. The Rev. Charles Fontana of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Carleton, will officiate and burial will be in St. Charles Cemetery. Born Sept. 17, 1930, in Wyandotte, he was the son of Russell and Opal (Cook) Pete. He married Maureen Bergmoser May 19, 1951, in St. Charles Church. He had been a mail carrier with the Newport Post Office for the past 21 years. Prior to that, he had been a Sealtest milkman for 13 years. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Swan Boat Club Board of Directors, Floral City Chapter 79, Disabled American Veterans, and St. Charles Dad's Club. Surviving are his wife; his parents of Houghton Lake; two sons, Jeff of Dallas, Texas, and Marty at home; four daughters, Pam Hiteshew of Rockwood, Vicki Armstrong of Belleville, Lori McKenzie of Trenton and Toni Kayson of South Rockwood; a sister, Letty Wiseman of Rockwood, and seven grandchildren.
