He was born August 9, 1912 at Erie, Michigan and was united in marriage to his wife, Irene, in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1963. He was a veteran of World War II; a member of the Eagles Lodge; a past President of the Triangle Lake Grange. Surviving are his wife Irene, one daughter, Mrs. Cecil Whittaker of San Bernardino, California; two sons: David of Blachly, Verdon II of San Diego, California, two step-sons, Raymond and Regis Gigler of Riverside, California, David Gigler of Saugus, California, step-daughter, Mary Waring of Riverside, two brothers, Floyd of Williamsburg, Michigan, Russell of Holiday, Florida, two sisters Ethel Schuller of Holiday, Florida, Beulah Babcock of Woodville, Alabama, Naomi Lindly of Fort Wayne, Indiana; twenty-one grandchildren. Obituary: Daily Press (Victorville, CA), Saturday, 23 February 2008: Rita A. Pete, 90, of Apple Valley, passed away Feb. 15, 2008, after a brief illness. She was born Nov. 11, 1917, in Lowell, Mass. The family moved to Michigan where she grew up and married. In 1947, the family moved to California. She was a longtime resident of Rialto and moved to Apple Valley in 2002. She was employed by Rohr Aircraft in Arlington as a prefabricator for 30 years. Rita is survived by her children, Beverly Whittaker of Spring Valley Lake; David S. Pete and wife Bernardine of Redmond, Ore.; V.J. Pete and wife Jan of San Diego; grandchildren John Burke, David Burke (Ilene), Michelle Kersten (Stephen), Launa Barbosa (Tom), Maria Whittaker, Pamela Cole and Joseph Pete; seven great-grandchildren, Cassandra, Megan and Kaitlin Burke, Autumn and Dylan Kersten, Chad and Jason Cole. A visitation will be at 12 noon, followed by services at 1 p.m. at Green Acres Memorial Park and Mortuary, Bloomington. Obituary: Eugene Register-Guard (Eugene City, OR), 8 November 2001: (photo) Dexter - Irene E. Pete-Boyd of Dexter died Nov. 5 of complications from Alzheimer's disease. She was 88. Pete-Boyd was born May 18, 1913, in Millvale, Pa., to Jacob and Mary Ann Becker Osche. Her husband, Verdon J. Pete, died previously. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking and painting. She was a member of a grange. Survivors include three sons, David Gigler of Dextor, Raymond Gigler of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and Regis Gigler of Long Beach, Calif.; a daughter, Mary Waring, of Waldport; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Private services are planned. Andreason's Cremation & Burial Service in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.
