Obituary: Times Picayune (New Orleans, LA), Thursday, 9 March 1922: Mrs. Virginia Adele Pitre, nee Lefort, mother of Vic. A. Pitre, mayor of Westwego, was buried Wednesday afternoon from the residence in Barataria Boulevard, Marrero, La., where she made her home with a son, Marius M. Pitre. Mrs. Pitre was 82 years of age and the widow of Augustin Pitre. She had been a life-long resident of Jefferson parish, having been born at Cheniere Caminada.
- New Orleans States (New Orleans, LA), Sunday, 12 March 1922: In the death of Mrs. Virginia Adele Pitre, nee Lefort, widow of Austin Pitre, which occurred last Tuesday, Jefferson parish loses one of its oldest residents. Born at Cheniere Caminada, eighty-two years ago, Mrs. Pitre spent her entire lifetime in Jefferson. She was a resident of Cheniere at the time of the great stowm which swept the Gulf Coast in the nineties and lost thirteen children in that great catastrophe. In 1903 she moved to Westwego, where she resided until a few months ago, when she moved to Marrero, making her home with her son, Marius M. Pitre, well known lumber merchant. She also leaves two other sons, Vic A. Pitre, mayor of Westwego and Edward Pitre of New Orleans, and one daughter, Mrs. O. Labauve. Mrs. Pitre was buried with service at the Westwego Catholic Church.

His death was sudden and a shock to his friends. His remains were buried this morning at 10 o'clock, Father Stenmans of Gretna officiating. The interment was in the Westwego Catholic cemetery.
