Obituaries for the children:

Joseph Alfred 'Frederick' Pitre:  The Times Transcript (Moncton, NB), Thursday, 24 February 1966:  Bathurst - The death of Fred W. Pitre, 823 Landry Lane, occurred at the Hotel Dieu on Wednesday after a short illness.  He was 76.  Born in Bathurst, he was a son of the late William Pitre of Rough Waters and his wife the former Catherine Roy of Petit Rocher.  Mr. Pitre, a lifelong resident of the Bathurst area, was a retired millwright of Bathurst Paper Ltd.  He was a member of the company's Quarter Century Club and was a third degree Knight of Columbus council 1935.  Following his mill retirement, Mr. Pitre was a taxi operator until three years ago.  His first wife, the former Catherine Lavigne, died in 1951.  Surviving are his wife, the former Elva McLeod; two sons, Elmer, Bathurst and William of Toronto; four daughters Mrs. Leo Malley (Eva); Mrs. Anthony Melanson (Clara); and Mrs. Lawny Babin (Violet) all of Bathurst; and Mrs. Grattan Hazel (Lillian), of Rumford, Maine; six sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Lavigne; Mrs. Bertha Holstein; and Mrs. Edith Watson all of Bathurst; Mrs. George Doucet (Florence) Robertville, Mrs. Eva Pitre, Long Island, New York and Mrs. Gilbert Doucet (Francis) Cowansville, Quebec and 13 grandchildren.  The body is resting at Elhattan's funeral home from where the funeral will be held to St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church on Friday morning for requiem high mass at 9 o'clock.  Entombment will be in the South Bathurst vault with interment to be made in the spring.

 

Mary Elizabeth Ann Pitre:  Saint John Times Globe (St. John, NB), Friday, 6 March 1959:  Ill for the last year, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Ann McVane, wife of George N. McVane, 93 Acadia Street, died Thursday in the Saint John General Hospital.  She was 66 years of age.  Mrs. McVane was born at Bathurst, the daughter of the late William and Catherine Petrie, and had been a resident here for the last 45 years.  Mrs. McVane was a parishioner of St. Peter's Parish.  Surviving are her husband, a son, Clifford J. McVane, Toronto, Ont.; three brothers, Dennis Petrie, Rumford, Me.; Frederick Petrie, Bathurst; Howard Petrie, Hornepayne, Ont.; six sisters, Mrs. William Petrie, Bronx, N.Y.; Mrs. Charles Hertz, Long Island, N.Y.; Mrs. Amos Watson, East Bathurst; Mrs. George Doucet, Robertville; Mrs. James Lavigne, West Bathurst; Mrs. Gilbert Doucet, Cowansville, Que.; four grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.  The funeral will be held on Saturday morning at 8:45 o'clock from O'Neill's Funeral Home to St. Peter's Church for high mass of requiem at 9.  Entombment at Fernhill Cemetery until the spring, when interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

 

Marie Edith Pitre:  The Times Transcript (Moncton, NB), Tuesday, 24 July 1984:  Allardville - Edith MacPherson, 91, died Saturday at Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a lengthy illness.  Born in Bathurst, she was a daughter of the late William and Catherine (Roy) Pitre.  Her first husband, Amos Watson of Bathurst, died in 1956.  She is survived by her second husband, Alvin MacPherson; one son, Gerald Watson, Allardville; one daughter, Doris Desylva, Saint John; one brother, Howard Pitre, Ontario; five sisters, Eva Pitre, New York; Beatrice Lavigne and Bertha Holster, both of Bathurst, Florence Doucet, Quebec; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.  The body is at Elhattan's Funeral Home, Bathurst.  Funeral mass will be celebrated today at 4 p.m. from Christ the King Roman Catholic Church, Allardville.  Burial wil be in the St. Mary Ave. family lot in Bathurst.

 

Marie Eva Pitre:  Sarasota Herald Tribune (Sarasota, FL), Tuesday, 4 December 1990:  Eva Petrie, 93, 1100 block Lemon Bay Drive, Venice, died Dec. 1, 1990.  She was born Oct. 13, 1897, in West Bathurst, New Brunswick, and came to this area three years ago from Huntington Station, N.Y.  She was a member of St. Hugh's Catholic Church.  Survivors include a daughter, Lillian Bowers of Venice, three sisters, Francis Doucet of Cowansville, Quebec, Florence Doucet of Robertville, New Brunswick, and Bertha Holste of West Bathurst, New Brunswick; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.  Services and burial will be in New York, Lemon Bay Funeral Home, Venice Chapel, is in charge.

 

Joseph Denis Pitre:  The Lewiston Daily Sun (Lewiston, ME), Tuesday, 12 December 1972:  Roxbury - Dennis J. Petrie, 66, died Monday at Rumford Community Hospital where he had been a patient five days.  He resided at Silver Lake and had lived in the area more than 44 years.  Mr. Petrie was born Aug. 25, 1906, in West Bathurst, N.B., the son of William and Katherine Roy Petrie.  He was a communicant of St. Theresa's Church, Mexico, and a member of the Oxford Paper Co. 25-and 40-Year Clubs.  Mr. Petrie was employed by the Oxford Paper Co. for 40 years until retiring in 1967.  He was married in Bathurst on Sept. 15, 1926, to Alice Boudreau who survives.  Also surviving are three sons, Dennis Paul of New Haven, Conn., J. R. of Winthrop, Mass., and J. Roger of Rumford; four daughters, Mrs. Cora Wade, Dixfield, Mrs. Marie Coffin, South Rumford, Mrs. Joan Daigle, Rumford, and Mrs. Sharon Sirois, Winthrop, Mass.; a brother, Howard of North Bay, Ont.; six sisters, Mrs. Eva Petrie, Long Island, N.Y., Mrs. Bertha Holste, New York, N.Y., Mrs. Frances Doucette, Cowansville, Que., Mrs. Florence Doucette, Robertville, N.B.; Mrs. Beatrice Lavigne and Mrs. Edith McPherson, both of Bathurst, N.B.; 30 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

 

Marguerite Catherine 'Frances' Pitre:  Doucet Pitre Madame Marguerite.  At Brome-Missisquoi Perkins Hospital of Cowansville, Thursday 12 January 1995, at the age of 86 years, passed away Madame Marguerite Pitre, wife of the late Mr. Joseph Albert Doucet.  She is survived by her children: Irma (Gilles Pepin) of Cowansville; Gary (Eliane Lussier) of Chateauguay; Delcina (Rosaire Masseau) of Chateauguay; Dorice (Gilles Therrien) of Dunham; Denis (Huguette Giroux) of Chateauguay; Ronald (Mafie Sabourin) of Bromont; Gerald (Diane Hall) of Ottawa.  Grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, as well as many other relatives and friends.  Madame Doucet will be shown at the funeral home of Cowansville.  Visiting hours are: Sunday 15 January 2-5 p.m. and 7-10 p.m.  The funeral will take place at Ste. Therese de l'Enfant Jesus church of Cowansville, Monday 16 January 1995 at 11 a.m.  The Eucharistic celebration will be followed by cremation, and burial of the ashes to follow at a later date.  Please note: The salon will be open Monday the day of the funeral starting at 9 a.m.  Instead of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Marie Florence Pitre:  l'Acadie Nouvelle (Caraquet, NB), Saturday, 27 September 2003:  Robertville -At the Villa Sormany in Robertville, on Friday, September 26, 2003, at the age of 92, passed away Florence Doucet, wife of the late Georges V. Doucet, domiciled at Villa Sormany.  Born at Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Willie et Catherine (Roy) Pitre.  She is survived by five sons: Real (Delima Lagace), Clifford (late Anita Doucet) and Denis (Armande Roy), all of Robertville, Gilbert (Pauline Migneault) of Kapuskasing, Ont. and Clovis of Bathurst; seven daughters: Jeannette (Henri Pitre) of Val Rita, Ont., Marie (Ulric Charpentier) and Irene (Ernie Credger), both of Moonbeam, Ont., Yvonne (Celestin Frenette), Sr Emelie Doucet, ss.cc.jm., Noella (Jacques Pelletier) and Lucie Hachey, all of Robertville, and 26 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by one son, Edgar.  Madame Doucet was the last living person in her immediate family.  The remains will lie in state starting at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 28, at the Heritage Funeral Home, Beresford.  Funeral mass will be celebrated from Ste. Therese of Robertville Roman Catholic Church on Monday, September 29th at 7 p.m.  Interment will be in the parish cemetery.  Visiting hours: Sunday, September 28, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday, September 29, from 2 to 4 p.m.
