Obituary:  The Lewiston Daily Sun (Lewiston, ME), Tuesday, 12 December 1972:  Roxbury - Dennis J. Petrie, 66, died Monday at Rumford Community Hospital where he had been a patient five days.  He resided at Silver Lake and had lived in the area more than 44 years.  Mr. Petrie was born Aug. 25, 1906, in West Bathurst, N.B., the son of William and Katherine Roy Petrie.  He was a communicant of St. Theresa's Church, Mexico, and a member of the Oxford Paper Co. 25-and 40-Year Clubs.  Mr. Petrie was employed by the Oxford Paper Co. for 40 years until retiring in 1967.  He was married in Bathurst on Sept. 15, 1926, to Alice Boudreau who survives.  Also surviving are three sons, Dennis Paul of New Haven, Conn., J. R. of Winthrop, Mass., and J. Roger of Rumford; four daughters, Mrs. Cora Wade, Dixfield, Mrs. Marie Coffin, South Rumford, Mrs. Joan Daigle, Rumford, and Mrs. Sharon Sirois, Winthrop, Mass.; a brother, Howard of North Bay, Ont.; six sisters, Mrs. Eva Petrie, Long Island, N.Y., Mrs. Bertha Holste, New York, N.Y., Mrs. Frances Doucette, Cowansville, Que., Mrs. Florence Doucette, Robertville, N.B.; Mrs. Beatrice Lavigne and Mrs. Edith McPherson, both of Bathurst, N.B.; 30 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Obituary:  Sun Journal (Lewiston, ME), Monday, 30 November 1981:  Rumford - Alice B. Petrie, 72, died Sunday at the Rumford Community Hospital.  She had resided at 220 Penobscot St. in Rumford for the past eight years.  She was formerly of Roxbury where she had lived for many years.  She was born Nigadoo, N.B., July 3, 1909, daughter of Paul and Ermance Boudreau.  She was a communicant of St. Athanasius-St. John Church.  She was married in Bathurst, N.B., Sept. 14, 1926, to Dennis J. Petrie.  He died in Rumford, Dec. 11, 1972.  Survivors include three sons, Dennis Paul of New Haven, Conn., J. R. and J. Roger, both of Rumford; four daughters, Mrs. Cora Wade of Dixfield, Mrs. Marie Coffin, Mrs. Joan Daigle, and Mrs. Sharon Sirois of Rumford; two brothers, Aurele Boudreau of Mexico and Alphonse Boudreau of Rumford; a sister, Mrs. Dolores Boucher of Lewiston; 31 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.

Dennis Paul Petrie:  Sun Journal (Lewiston, ME), Tuesday, 2 January 1996:  Strong - Dennis Paul Petrie, 68, of Main Street, Strong, died Sunday at his home following a long illness.  He was born June 25, 1927 in St. John, New Brunswick, son of Dennis J. and Alice Boudreau Petrie.  He attended Rumford schools.  Mr. Petrie was a veteran of the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1947.  Upon his discharge from the Navy, he made his home in Connecticut, where he attended night school and earned his degree as an electronics technician, a field he worked in until his retirement.  On Aug. 1, 1987, he married Priscilla Coffin in Hamden, Conn., moving to Maine in 1990.  He enjoyed photography, electronics, painting and fishing.  He also played many musical instruments.  He is survived by his wife, Priscilla, of Strong; three sons, Dennis Jr. and Stephen, both of Arizona and John of Delaware; one daughter, Elizabeth Gallagher of Connecticut; one brother, Roger Petrie of Rumford; four sisters, Mrs. Clifford (Cora) Wade of Dixfield, Mrs. Millett (Marie) Coffin, Mrs. Albert (Joan) Cyr and Mrs. Rudy (Sharon) Sirois, all of Rumford; nine step-children; many grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph 'J.R.' Petrie, who died on Dec. 27, 1995.

Joseph Roger Petrie:  Sun Journal (Lewiston, ME), Sunday, 1 April 2007:  (photo) Rumford - Joseph Roger Petrie, 78, of Knox Street, Rumford, died March 30 at home with his devoted wife by his side.  He was born in Rumford on Jan. 5, 1929, the son of Dennis and Alice (Boudreau) Petrie.  He joined the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of World War II.  He was employed at Oxford Paper Co. until his retirement.  He was a member of the VFW Post 1641, the American Legion Post 24 and the Father Barry Knights of Columbus Council 2091, which is where he held offices of treasurer, trustee and pilot of the 4th degree.  He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and bowling.  He was a member of the Monday Men's Pine Tree Bowling League, Wednesday's Couples League and Dot Day's on Fridays.  He was an active communicant of St. Athanasius & St. John Catholic Church and a devoted volunteer at Thursday night bingo.  In 1848, he married Estelle (Jaros) Petrie, who predeceased him in 1986.  He was fortunate to find love again, and in 1999, he married Shirley (Bradbury) Petrie, with whom he happily shared his final years.  He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Bradbury) Petrie; his loving children, David Petrie and wife, Margaret, of Attleboro, Mass., Priscilla 'Cilla' Prevost and husband, David, of Rumford, Wayne Petrie of Rumford, Mark Petrie and wife, Teresa, of Rumford, Gloria Provencher and husband, Terrance, of Rumford, and Gary Petrie and wife, Deanna, of Rumford; daughter-in-law, Nancy Petrie of Berlin, N.H.; three sisters, Marie Coffin and husband, Millett, Joan Cyr and husband, Al, and Sharon Sirois and husband, Rudy, all of Rumford; 17 grandchildren, Jeanette, Jane, Kristyn, Kelley, Kevin, Patrick, Tareena, Matthew, Malinda, Michael, Jason, Bryanne, Jonathan, Sydney, Kendal, Julianne and Amanda; and seven great-grandchildren, Campbell, Alexis, Jade, Gavyn, Ava, Britney and Kylie.  He was predeceased by his first wife, Estelle Jaros Petrie; a son, Bernard; brothers, J. Cora Mary Petrie:  Sun Journal (Lewiston, ME), Thursday, 5 October 2000:  (photo) Farmington - Cora Wade, 70, of Averill Road, Dixfield, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, at the Orchard Park Living Center.  Born in Rumford, July 11, 1930, the daughter of Dennis and Alice (Boudreau) Petrie, she attended St. John's School and Stephen's High School in Rumford.  Mrs. Wade was a communicant of St. Joseph's Mission Church in Dixfield.  She was married in Rumford on June 20, 1949, to Clifford C. Wade and he died in Dixfield on May 30, 1999.  Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Al (Brenda) McCarthy of Weld, Mrs. Michael (Cynthia) Woodard of Jacksonville, Fla., Mrs. Carl (Marion) Porter of Dixfield and Mrs. Daniel (Lynn) Smith of Statesboro, Ga.; three sons and their wives, Neil and Margaret, Lee and Audrey all of Weld and Douglas and Donna of Rumford; 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Joseph Roger Petrie of Rumford; and three sisters, Mrs. Rudy (Sharon) Sirois, Mrs. Albert (Joan) Cyr and Mrs. Millett (Marie) Coffin, all of Rumford.  She was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph Roland 'J.R.' Petrie and Dennis Petrie.

 

Joseph Roland Petrie:  Sun Journal (Lewiston, ME), Thursday, 28 December 1995:  Rumford - Joseph 'J.R.' Petrie, 60, of 51 Essex St., died Wednesday, Dec. 27, at his home.  He was born on Oct. 1, 1935, in Rumford, son of Dennis J. and Alice Boudreau Petrie and attended Rumford schools, graduating from Stephens High School in the class of 1954.  For a number of years, he resided in the Hartford, Conn. area.  He returned to Rumford in 1972 and had been employed at Pulla's Home Center as a clerk and store manager.  He was a former member of the Fr, Ambrose J. Barry Council 2091 of the Knights of Columbus, where he served two terms as Grand Knight and was also a member of the Rumford Lodge of Elks 862, where he served in the chairs all the way up to Leading Knight.  Survivors include four sons, Joseph and Michael, both of Hartford, Conn., David of New Hampshire and Jay of Rumford, two brothers, Roger of Rumford and Dennis of Strong; four sisters, Mrs. Clifford (Cora) Wade of Dixfield, Mrs. Millett (Marie) Coffin, Mrs. Albert (Joan) Cyr and Mrs. Rudy (Sharon) Sirois, all of Rumford; and four grandchildren.

 

Joan Petrie:  Sun Journal (Lewiston, ME), Monday, 10 October 2011:  (photo) Lewiston - Joan Petrie Cyr, 71, of Rumford, died Saturday, Oct. 8, at Central Maine Medical Center.  She was born in Rumford on March 25, 1940, the daughter of Dennis and Alice (Boudreau) Petrie, and received her GED from Mountain Valley High School in Rumford.  Joan was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior, St. Athanasius-St. John Church.  She enjoyed crafts, music, embroidery, her pets, time with her family, especially playing penny poker with her family.  Joan was married in Rumford on Oct. 11, 1958, to Gerald Daigle, who died June 1, 1981, and later married in Rumford on Dec. 1, 1990, to Albert Joseph Cyr Sr., who died April 1, 2007.  Survivors include her children, Gerald 'Jerry' Daigle of Dixfield, Linda Fillds of Rumford, Catherine Derouche of Mexico, and Jennifer Turbide of Limerick; stepchildren, Albert Cyr Jr. of Rumford and Susan Kolek of Dracut, Mass.; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sisters, Sharon Sirois and Marie Coffin of Rumford.
