Obituary: Massena Observer (NY), Tuesday, 6 September 1938: Funeral services for William H. LaShomb, 55, were held this morning at 10 o'clock from St. Mary's Church, Massena. Burial was made in St. Patrick's Cemetery at Brasher Falls. Seriously ill only three hours, Mr. I.aShomb died at the Albion Hotel in Potsdam Saturday morning at 2:15 o’clock. About 10 months ago he suffered a stroke and was forced to give up his work at the aluminum plant. They resided at 57 Somerset Ave. In July Mr. and Mrs. LaShomb secured employment at the Albion Hotel. He never fully recovered his health although he was able to do light work. Late Friday evening he complained that he was not feeling well and at that time suffered another stroke and died within three hours. The body was brought to Massena Saturday morning by J. L. Phillips and taken to the family home at 57 Somerset Ave. Mr. LaShomb was born at Maple Ridge, Town of Brasher, Dec. 21, 1882, a son of Henry C. and Anna Lalonde LaShomb, both of whom are still living. He grew to manhood on the home farm and married Miss Maude McDonald of Brushton. They would have celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary next Friday. Mr. and Mrs. LaShomb lived at Brasher Iron Works, Pierpont and other places in the North Country and then they moved to Massachusetts. They returned to Massena and Mr. LaShomb secured employment at the aluminum plant and worked there until he was forced to give up his work due to ill health. He was a member of St. Mary's Church. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry C. LaShomb, who reside in this section; his wife; two sons, Howard LaShomb, Liberty Ave., and Lester LaShomb, Cedar St.; one daughter, Mrs. Carl Dutt, 57 Somerset Ave. Brothers and sisters surviving arc Mrs. Frank Ormsby, 61 Bishop Ave., Melvin LaShomb, Nicholville, Walter LaShomb, Brasher Falls, Mrs. I.awrence Layo, 31 Malby. A sister, Mrs. Thomas White, died three years ago.

Obituary: Massena Observer (NY), Tuesday, 2 June 1970: Funeral services for Mrs. Maude White, 80, of 57 Somerset Ave., were held Monday morning at 10 o'clock in St Mary's Church Massena, with burial in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Brasher Falls. Mrs. White died in Massena Memorial Hospital Friday morning, May 29, 1970, where she had been a patient, since May 4. Surviving are one son, Lester LaShomb, Massena; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Four children predeceased her. A son, Howard LaShomb, died Feb. 5, 1969: and a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy LaShomb Dutt, died May 29, 1962. Two daughters, Mildred and Irena, died in infancy. Also surviving are three stepsons, Walter White, Malone, Clement White, Helena, and Leroy White in Stockholm. Mrs. White was born July 25, 1889, in Brushton, a daughter of David and Mary Barton McDonald. She was married to William LaShomb Sept. 9, 1908, in St. Mary's Church, Brushton, and he died Sept. 3, 1938. She was married to Thomas White June 28, 1939, in St. Mary's Church, Massena, and he died July 25, 1962.

Howard Leo Lashomb: Massena Observer (NY), Thursday, 6 February 1969 - Howard Leo Lashomb, 59, of 24 Pine St., died in Massena Memorial Hospital at 4:55 o'clock Wednesday morning, Feb. 5, 1969, where he had been a patient three weeks. The body is at the Phillips Memorial Home. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:30 o'clock at Sacred Heart Church, with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Surviving are the wife; two sons, Raymond Lashomb, Sturbridge, Mass., and Donald D. Lashomb, Massena; mother, Mrs. Maud White, 57 Somerset Ave., one brother, Lester Lashomb, Massena; five grandchildren; three nieces and two nephews. Mr. Lashomb was born July 10, 1909, in Brasher Falls, a son of Maud McDonald Lashomb White and the late William Lashomb. He attended schools in Worcester, Mass., and married Miss Johanna (Jennie) Lamoureux, Apr. 5, 1925. They were married in the Holy Name of Jesus Church in Worcester. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Massena and Mr. Lashomb began working at Massena Operations, Alcoa, Oct. 2, 1926. He was employed in the merchant mill until he retired in April 1966, due to health reasons. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a member of the League of the Sacred Heart and the Alcoa 25 Year Club. The League of the Sacred Heart will recite the Rosary Thursday night at 8 o'clock at Phillips Memorial Home, for Howard Leo Lashomb.
Lester David Lashomb: Ogdensburg Advance (NY), Sunday, 19 November 2000: Massena - A Mass of Christian Burial for Lester D. LaShomb, 87, of 34 Churchill Avenue, Massena, who was a resident at the Highland Nursing Home in Massena, since June of 2000 will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church in Massena. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Massena. Calling hours will be held Monday from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Donaldson Funeral Home in Massena. Mr. LaShomb died Saturday (Nov. 18, 2000) at the Massena Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; two sons: Lester D. Jr. of Newington, Conn., and Richard K. of Oneida; one daughter, Barbara Helmase of Atlanta, Ga.; four step-daughters: Sheila and Billy Ayotte of Massena, Linda and Richard O'Brien of Ind., Barbara and Douglas Caruso of Oswego, and Mary and Gary McCaffrey of Coconut Creek, Fla.; nine grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Frances M. Henderson; a daughter, Phyllis LaPoint on Dec. 17, 1980; a grandson, Mark Helmase in 1995; one sister, Dorothy Dutt; and a brother, Howard. Mr. LaShomb was born on Aug. 11, 1913 in Brasher, the son of William and Maude (McDonald) LaShomb. He attended schools in Massena. He married Frances M. Henderson on Feb. 16, 1935 at St. Mary's Church. She died on Oct. 14, 1986. He then married Ruth Denis on June 23,1990 at the St. Lawrence Church in Louisville by Monsignor Floyd Brown. He was the head roller in the blooming mill at Alcoa for 38 years before retiring in 1978. He was the owner of LaShomb's Window Cleaning for many years. He was a member of the St. Lawrence Assembly #710 Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus serving as past faithful navigator, a member of the 25 year club at Alcoa, a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1141, a life member of the Moose Lodge #1110, and a past president of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He was also a past president of the Massena Senior Citizens, and member of the Legion of the Moose. He enjoyed bowling and being a member of the Blooming Mill Bowling League. Memorial donations may be made to the Massena Volunteer Rescue Squad.
Dorothy Lashombe: Massena Observer (NY), Thursday, 31 May 1962: Mrs. Dorothy M. LaShombe Dutt, 42, wife of Carl Dutt, Massena-Winthrop Rd., died at 9:25 o'clock Tuesday night, May 29, 1962, in Massena Memorial Hospital. She was in good health until she became ill Tuesday morning at about 5 o'clock. Her condition became suddenly worse at about 2 p.m., when she suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and was taken to the hospital. Mrs. Dutt was born Dec. 17, 1919, in Malone, a daughter of William and Maude McDonald LaShombe. She moved to Massena with her parents and attended Massena schools. She and Mr. Dutt were married Nov. 25, 1936, in St. Mary's Church by the late Rt. Rev. Msgr. John M. Bellamy, then pastor. They have since resided in Massena and area. Mr. Dutt is employed at Alcoa Plant. Surviving are the husband; her mother, Mrs. Maude White, 57 Somerset Ave.; one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Shirley) Rakoce, 13 Cedar St.; two granddaughters; two brothers, Lester LaShombe, Allen St., and Howard LaShombe, Pine St. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock at Sacred Heart Church with burial in Calvary Cemetery. The body is at the Phillips Memorial Home.
